There are other things that will help with the hot flashes. I stayed on the pill for a long time because it helped with my PMDD symptoms and my irregular cycle. When my doctor finally said I had to go off the pill because of my age and for some reason he was concerned about stroke (don't know why don't smoke, etc). I told…

I think the thing that helped me learn to stretch is doing regular hatha yoga. Before the yoga, I did not hold the stretch long enough and would sometimes bounce. So two things specific, don't bounce and hold for the stretch for a 15 count or even longer if you want. I was also a bit limited in what I did as a stretch, you…

I feel your pain with the hot/cold sheet dance. I started out with pj pants - then they came off, next went the quilt, then blanket. Then I got cold and put pj pants back on, then hot again. Finally fell asleep good around 4:30 - alarm went of at 6:05 as usual. It is just starting to get cool here in SC, so it will get a…

If your insurance will permit, go to an endochrinologist instead of your family doctor or even your gyn. They deal with hormone issues daily and typically have a much better grasp of where your levels should be. I originally was treated by my gynocologist, but he was not quick to react to fluctuations (I once gained 15…

I tried to answer on the old page, but it lost my post. It must have been right around the time it was locked. 1. What is one place you haven’t traveled that you would love to go to? Ireland/Scotland or Russia - Don't really know why other than I like old stuff. Maybe the fact that they are a little mystical. 2. Do you…

I just found this thread. Great Idea. Wish I found it sooner. I'm almost 5'1". I've never joined one of the groups. How do I record the challenge, etc.? I found it and have added myself.

Not sure about the how the levels are tested in Spain, but I've never hear of Hashimoto's causing fluctuations up and down. If you have Hashimoto's then your thyroid function is typically decreased. I have had hashimoto since I was in my mid 20's maybe younger. My levels have never been too high (just too low). The do…

Count me in. I'm 48. Between the hypothyroid (since my mid-20s) and peri-M (this spring), I don't know whether I'm coming or going. I convinced my doctor to leave me on the pill for a while, but he finally said no more this past spring. I have been all over the place ever since with a cycle ranging anywhere between 20 days…

We just planted 4 in our backyard - can't wait until next year to harvest.

I understand not wanting to taylor everthing. I'm more of the traditional 10-11 inch difference. Some things work others don't. I also stick with lots of skirts for the same reason. However, when pants fit well it can be worth it. Perhaps invest in just a couple pair of really great pants and jeans and have those taylored.…

lower rise and tayloring is probably your best bet especially if you are not planning to lose more. You might be able to tone and redistribute a little, but probably not enought to completely solve the issue with jeans. Also, Marilyn Monroe had a similar waist to hip ratio, you are in good company.
-
That's right - Monroe got up to about a 12-14 US at some points - now that would be a the much smaller size, maybe a 4-8, today. I have suits from 15 years ago that are a 14p and the are about the same at the 10p I bought a month ago. I suspect that those 14p from 15 years ago were a lot bigger than the 14 in Marilyn's day.

You look quite fit in the photos (you may have felt fat, but you were NOT). You also look like your frame is medium to large. Remember that muscle is much denser than fat, so you may have weighed 170, but looked like you weighed 145 - 150. Also remember that in high school you probably had not reached your full size. Many…

Keep up the good work. I started slow, so I can't really provide much insight. I have lost 36 lbs in about a year. I'm happy with that because I feel confident that once I reach my goal I will be better equipped to maintain it. I can say that the loss does slow down some. The less you need to lose, the slower it will be.…

They don't really go away,:ohwell: but you can make them less noticable. My dermatologist told me to use Cerave cream. It's very good and keeps skin hydrated so they don't look so bad.

Dry beans are very easy. Most need to be soaked for a bit, but all make great soup with just the basics of stock, carrots, celery, onion and a little spice. We had lima bean soup every week when I was a kid. My mom is a champ at stretching everything. She just used a left over ham bone to make stock (frozen from the 2 or 3…

The article certainly made the point I was trying to make. Although a little more political than it needed to be.

This is what I don't get. A bag of apples may cost more than a bag of chips, but when you consider volume, serving size and the many things that can be done with them, then they are more affordable. I mean a bag of chips is what 12 oz (12 1 oz servings) and a bag of apples 5 lbs (10-12 6oz servings). I think part of it is…

That's a tough one. New York or San Fran are very tolerant as to religion, but stick their nose in about the smoking, garbage collection, energy use, etc. In certain areas smoking is still very OK, but the ones I can think of are fairly religious areas (I don't know why). I would say someplace like Montana. Not many people…

I have to say I agree to a certain extent. Humans are social animals and avoid doing things that are not socially acceptable. Some examples come to mind: Europeans drink alcohol regularly, however, being intoxicated is unacceptable and rarely seen in public (I'm told); in the olden days having a child out of wedlock was…

Some smells are pretty tough to get out. Try adding a little baking soda to your wash.

I'm very direct. I have learned not to offer unless asked though. . Send me a friend request.

Sounds like you are figuring it out on your own. It's different for everyone and a balancing act. You want to reduce calories enough to be in a defecit, but not so much that you decrease your bmr. Experment a little and see how you feel. your body will tell you a lot.

I could not see your diary, so it's hard to comment on what might be right or wrong. From your pic and back ground info, it does not appear you need to lose much. If that's the case, you might have cut back too much on your food. Try  changing your settings to half a pound a week. Someone who only needs to lose a…

I don't know about the peanut thing, but gluten issues have been around for a long time. Just not easy to diagnose. I've had symptoms 35-40 years. Really as long as I can remember. Doctors just said IBS and try to determine my triggers. That's awful hard to do when there is wheat in just about everything. I only learned…

You should not feel sick, bloated after eating a normal amount of food. Symptoms of gluten intollerance include; feeling overly full or bloated after eating foods with wheat, rye, or barley; chronic loose bowels and /or constipation (I alternated); very smelly bm; pain in the gut (I always desribed mine as a brick in my…

So many things go into whether you reach your goal. For now, it looks like you are doing well. You are losing weight at a reasonable rate. That will probably slow a little as you get closer to your goal. I know mine has, but changing up exercize, drinking more water, etc. usually helps get past that. It also helps to keep…

I was watching Dr. Oz last week and he had a few suggestions regarding this. Thie first is to work out first thing in the morning, before eating. He said that it helps to burn the stored energy. He also said to take any fiber supplements about 15 minutes before your meal. They help fill you and work better. I have been…
