I agree, every bite counts and could easily add up if not tracked. I try to gauge what percentage of a serving I eat and use that. Like if a serving of chips is 10 chips and I eat 2, I put in .2 of a serving. I might be off by a few calories but at least it's in my food diary.

Each pound of muscle mass added burns 50 calories per day versus idle fat mass. Doesn't sound like much but would add up - replace 10 lbs of fat with 10 lbs of muscle and burn the equivalent of one pound per week (or be able to eat an extra 500 calories/day without weight gain!!)

My sister worked at one in Buffalo NY area in the early 1980s. Yes, the "warm-up" included the old 'jigglers'. We were talking about it not too long ago and I dug out a picture of her in her leotard, tights and leg warmers!! Of course, she had the big hair and big eyeglasses from the 80s too!!

I'm here!! East Amherst NY.

I've been eating Uncle Sam original cereal with blueberries (preferably fresh but will settle for frozen) and soy or skim milk for over 2 years now. I buy the cereal by the case!! Love the flaxseed.

Bump....thanks for the great info!!

April 1, 2009....weighed 325 lbs and faced turning 50 in August 2009. Decided it was now or never. Started avoiding simple carbs and high fat foods, trying to stay around 1200-1500 calories a day (although I wasn't tracking my food intake). Also started doing Leslie Sansone 1 mile walk on exercise TV. For the first month,…

I think you need the egg as a binder. You might try just using the white to keep the fat and calories down. But I'm no food scientist

Isn't spinning the greatest? I love it. Been spinning since Oct 2010 and have lost 57 lbs since then. Of course, I am eating within my calorie allowance, but the spinning is such a great cardio workout and burns loads of calories. I hate running and elliptical - so glad I gave spinning a try.

100 calories a day is 10 lbs a year. 200 calories a day is 20 lbs a year. It's so easy to eat an extra couple hundred calories every day without realizing it. The pounds slowly creep back on. The answer for me is My Fitness Pal - for life! I believe that for me to keep the weight off, I will have to track calorie intake…

Braums Chocolate Toffee Ice Cream, definitely!

Exercise is important but it won't shrink your skin. I burn 4000 calories a week doing cardio and I also do a couple hours of weight training each week. I have great biceps and triceps, rock hard, but it doesn't help the hanging skin on my underarms. My quads and hamstrings are well defined too, but when I stand, gravity…

Depends how old you are mostly and how long you have been overweight. The older you are, the more likely your skin will not rebound. I am 51 and have lost 150+ lbs over 1.5 years, averaging 2 lbs/week. My skin is horrible - I am going to have to save up for surgery or just live with it. Dreading summer - it's easy to cover…

It is more expensive to eat healthy food. Do you have Aldi in your area? Their produce is very reasonable and of good quality for the most part. It's prepackaged so you might have to buy more than you want, for instance, I like cucumber in my salad but they come 3 to a package and it's hard to use them up sometimes. But…

Yes, you can succeed!! One trick is to keep your metabolism up by frequent short sessions of exercise. I do the 15-20 minute Leslie Sansone 1 mile walks available for free on Exercise TV. Space them out throughout the day. You can always find 15 minutes to squeeze one in at least twice a day and you don't get sweaty, but…

It's horrible...of course, I am 51 so that probably doesn't help LOL!!

Don't be overwhelmed by the amount of weight you want to lose. One pound at a time. Stay faithful to your exercise and eating plan and record every bite you put in your mouth. That alone keeps me from nibbling. You found a great site to track your intake - just keep doing it. I am getting close to my goal, have lost 150…

Lean protein!!

Too many carbs, not enough protein. Eat light string cheese or some egg whites instead of all those carbs.

Sounds great. I'm going to substitute cauliflower for the potatoes to lower the calorie and carb count....will be just as creamy and tasty, but with more nutrients and less calories!!

See if you have Exercise TV through your cable/fios/satellite provider and try out some of the workouts there. Super convenient. My standard response to people asking how I've lost the weight is 'Eat less, move more'. It's really as basic as that. Tracking your food intake really helps and My Fitness Pal is the best tool…

Weigh every morning if you want to, but only record it on MFP weekly. I record Wednesday morning's weight - can't remember why I chose Weds. It's more satisfying to me to see the weekly drop over time than the daily ups and downs.

I agree with the post about Leslie Sansone DVDs. I started at 325 lbs and could barely do the 1 mile walk I found for free on Exercise TV. If I'd tried to start with Jillian Michaels or something as extreme as P90X, I'd have given up the first day. It took me another month to even dare try Leslie's 2 mile walk. Take it…

Leslie Sansone workouts are the best. You can easily vary the intensity on your own. If you have On Demand TV through your cable or satellite provider, check out Exercise TV and see if you have some of her walking workouts there. I have Verizon FiOS and there are usually 2 or 3 Leslie Sansone workouts available for free.

So sorry to hear of your many struggles, especially at Christmas. Please remember that food doesn't solve anything and will only make you feel worse later. If you can force yourself, try to get a little exercise, even just a walk might help.

Try spinning - everyone is working so hard they aren't paying attention to anyone else. I've been spinning for 3 months now and am addicted. Be sure to give it a couple weeks. Your quads will be screaming the day after your first class but they get strong quickly. It's a great workout!!

I eat ONE Dove Dark Chocolate every evening. It keeps me from feeling deprived. The key is keeping it to one and one only.

Count me in. 40 lbs will put me at goal!!
