I love zucchini boats. You can also make them with taco seasoned ground turkey (w/onion, garlic, black beans, salsa & queso fresco). Another way to use your Italian ingredients is to stuff and roast in a portobello mushroom.

And it makes me sad to know people or read about people that starve themselves in the hopes of losing weight.

Guess I used a poor choice of words "metabolism shutting down" and maybe should have said "can slow ones metabolic rate." I know diet and exercise is different for everyone and so many people have tried multiple things and what's been successful for one, maybe won't work for another. I too have tried many things over the…

Not eating is a terrible idea for losing weight. When you starve your body, your metabolism shuts down and your body fights to keep every calorie and ounce of fat. If one truly wants to get healthy, they need to find the right balance of diet and exercise.

What type of fasting? Like intermittent fasting? Or to reset your metabolism?

Squats, lunges, single/stiff leg deadlifts, russian twists, push ups and bridges are an example of strength exercises that can be done with or without weights. What weights do you have access to? I highly recommend picking up one or a few kettlebells. Kettlebell swings are an excellent whole body workout and they can be…

I don't save it but I use it when I make bacon. Over the weekend I made sauteed beet greens with bacon, onion and garlic. Everything was sauteed in the bacon grease. Sofaking good!

Logging daily things like walking or cleaning your house should not be logged as exercise or calories burned. Measure everything that goes in your mouth, including beverages, gum, bites/tastes of food.

The type of carbs makes a difference, IMO. Cut bad carbs, breads, white rice, pasta, etc. and add good carbs, veggies, quinoa, brown rice, etc. I also agree with increasing protein. Good luck.

Have you tried overnight oats? I eat them cold and they're more like dessert than breakfast, IMO. I have created several recipes, including PB and chocolate. The basic recipe is 1 cup oats (I use Bob's Redmill 5 grain and buy in bulk), 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1 container high protein greek yogurt (I use vanilla for…

Dymatize elite whey cafe mocha protein powder is really good. It also contains BCAAs. I mix it with unsweetened almond milk.

Unless you're holding onto a lot of water, which I can't imagine you are at 107 lbs, I thought water weight is lost through sweat after activity and then gained back when you hydrate. If that's the case, permanent weight loss is either muscle or fat, no? I would also think that unless you're tracking your percent of body…

I feel you. That's why I switched to braids.

Sticking to a balanced, low carb/low fat diet, drink lots of water and taking it easy with cardio. Walking is a great option. I highly recommend starting a weight lifting/strength training routine. Definitely start slow and work your way up - even with the diet/food. Making too many big changes makes it harder to stay…

You have to lift heavy to see results and yes, squeezing at the top of the motion (including deadlifts) is necessary. Also vary up the type of squats. Deadlifts and step ups are other great ways to build up that posterior. As are glute bridges and donkey kicks.

Feel free to add me, I'm not super active on the boards but I'm on every day and active with those on my F list. :)

Rewarding ourselves with food is clearly why there are so many food addicted people. It's a terrible cycle so many of us are all too familiar with, IMO. Don't get me wrong, I still indulge in all the things, cookies, ice cream, candy, etc. but I limit the amount that I eat to a real serving size and I never eat them as a…

I rarely post but I'm on here every day. Feel free to add me :)

Hello, I'm in Salem, Oregon. I ran as a kid/teen and started seriously running again in February of this year. I make it up to Portland, Oregon once a month or so to run up there as there are some amazing places/trails and I have a group of friends there that run as well (including my relay team). I'm so glad I found this…

Heard of them but not familiar with their music. Mad Season

Cookie dough is my favorite Quest bar and about the only one of theirs that I buy. I agree that Pure Protein has better tasting bars, including bars with added fiber. Pure Protein also has these "crunch" snacks that are really similar to Whoppers candies. Oh Yeah! Bars are okay, IMO. Pure Protein is by far the cheaper of…

Try eating healthy alternatives. Quest, Pure Protein and Oh Yeah! make protein bars that taste sinful but are pretty good for you. Pure Protein also makes Protein Crunch snacks that taste like the candy whoppers in chocolate and peanut butter flavors. There are cereals, pretzels and other crisps type snacks made by Kay's…

125 lbs, 5' 4.5", size 2 or 4 pants/shorts, size xs or s shirts/tanks (depending on where I shop), bras 34b.

Increase protein, decrease simple carbs and fat. Add HIIT to your cardio routine and do strength training 3-4 days a week.

I weigh myself every day at the same time of day, which for me happens to be first thing in the morning. I feel that is the best way to really know what I weigh. If you weigh at the end of the day, some of the food you have eaten during the day can easily affect what your scale says. By weighing in the morning, nine or…

Just using MFP every day helped me really see what I was eating and how many calories I was consuming. It's really hard to see it all in one place. If you can commit to logging in (I use my phone app, much easier) and entering all your food for every meal, including snacks, that might help you. But the number one thing is…

Livestrong said up & down stairs for a 160 lb person would burn 102 calories in 10 mins.
