I would second having a family member actually hide it or lock it up. If you switch to weighing yourself weekly I think you'll really like it. It's nice to see those big happy downward changes all at once - you really see the big picture instead of getting caught up in minor fluctuations. I weigh myself every Saturday…

honestly I can never hit my protein target without shakes. don't invest in a big tub of powder without trying a couple first because most are digusting, but some are entirely decent. mix them with greek yogurt for extra protein and deliciousness. make meat portions big and pair them with other protein-rich foods instead of…

You might want to try increasing calorie intake every so often and seeing if that gets your body burning calories again. I have a "cheat day" every week and have done pretty well at maintaining steady weight loss. Just an idea to experiment with maybe?

I was a bit freaked out by how much mine seemed to shrink and how loose my bra felt, but when I went to replace it I found I'd only gone from 38DDD to 36DD, which is a pretty positive change. The reduced band size was just making my bra feel really loose when actually the cup size hadn't shifted a lot. That's after 60 lbs…

I just happened to read this really interesting blog post a couple of days ago about when your body is "wrong" about sending you hunger signals, thought I'd share. http://www.marksdailyapple.com/when-listening-to-your-body-doesnt-work/#axzz22c4zEav6

Or the pizza buffet. I like that answer too. Most "unhealthy" foods get that label for being calorie-dense, so if replenishing calories is your goal, maybe re-evaluate what you consider healthy for the day. We all know how to eat a ton of calories, that's how we ended up needing MFP in the first place!

Chocolate protein powder blended with full fat yogurt, banana, and peanut butter is tasty and calorie-dense.

Eat it if you love it, but be careful about tracking it to stay in your daily goals. Measure it at least a couple times to see how much you actually use when you're just squirting it out of the bottle so you can count it accurately - it's really easy to underestimate how much of a condiment you're using.

It's fine! Just check the label, most sparkling waters (unless they're flavoured or sweetened) are calorie-free. I love sparkling water, it keeps me away from pop.

I was having trouble with basically being a grouchy, horrible person all day every day, so I started deliberately skewing 2/3 of my calorie intake to be before dinner rather than having 2/3 of it in the evening like I used to. I feel awesome now after a 400 calorie breakfast and 400 calorie lunch and my weight loss picked…

It can be ketogenic. If you're on a low carb diet it will help push you into ketosis. If you're not on a low carb diet, you probably won't see that effect. It is reasonably healthy as an oil though, and can help prevent sunburn (either applied to your skin or ingested), and help you feel satiated.
-
haha it happens. rinsing beans thoroughly out of the can helps a lot.

Your body is capable of surviving off of fat through ketosis. That's why it uses fat as its primary energy storage. Take some vitamins, you'll be fine. It only takes a couple of days to go into ketosis, and in the transition period your body will deplete its glycogen, then panic a bit and start burning muscle (briefly),…

Pick out the workout you want to do with the weight first (either from a book or online) and go to a good fitness supply store that will let you try out a sample weight. Then grab one you can perform the workout you want to with but not much more (for myself, I started with a kettlebell swing, and I bought one that I could…

beans are cheap and awesome for refueling! also frozen veggies (green beans are my favourite, and still super yummy sauteed in butter). and bananas are pretty cheap and are more filling and calorie-rich than most fruit.

I like to cook up a chicken breast the night before, chop it up, and then make a half-sandwich with it and just one slice of bread (cut in two with filling in between). put that with a yummy salad and you've got a pretty solid microwave-free lunch. I also really like making a huge batch of greek salad (usually with just…

I have serious doubts about people saying that both is possible. Heavy long distance running training will make it extremely difficult to make/maintain serious muscle gains. Strength isn't necessarily linked to the size of the muscle, though. I would recommend the book The 4 Hour Body, as he goes into great detail about…

as a sidenote, though, I did eventually ditch that plan and settle on more of a straight calorie counting strategy because I found I was just feeling too (psychologically) deprived

I have gone several months severely restricting carbohydrates (except for one day a week where I would indulge) and lost nearly 50 lbs while dramatically improving physical fitness and sports performance. I'd say if it works for you and you're feeling good and seeing results, go for it.

I think all you can really do is diet and lose weight. Where your body stores fat is genetics, so you might just lose all the fat you have on top while holding on to what's on the bottom, but at a certain point you will lose the stored fat on your legs too. Trying to spot-train just your legs will prevent them from looking…

I just give my husband larger portions of the same foods I eat. He's easier to cook for than a kid though because he's not picky :)

It's rainy and terrible here in Edmonton, but hopefully we still get some firework action tonight

This is mine. Started using it when I was heavier and a DDD. Made it virtually a non-issue when working out :) http://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=46915&vid=1&pid=720994

yup! that's totally normal - as much as 5 lbs of pretty much just water weight. I avoid weighing myself in the week before my period and during my period so I don't get sad :) and yeah, it comes right off afterwards.

I find my breakouts are often tied to dry, irritated skin. I either shower at night after a workout or in the morning before work, but not both or my skin gets too dried out. If you really want 2 showers a day then try not using soap for one of them and turning down the water temperature - a cool shower actually feels…

maybe switch your focus to your upper body if you can - rowing or something? swimming might be an option too just to keep moving until you can put weight on your knee without pain.

I like it. I use it as my primary method of tracking my weight, so that's handy. Some of the exercises are clearly just for fun, but I mostly stick to the ones that really feel like a good cardio workout (hula hoop is intense!). Someone mentioned the pauses and stuff for choosing a new activity - it does have a function…
