They're a good source of healthy fats and are a great food if you're doing extended exercise and need some good slow-release energy. And they're tasty! I use them in smoothies and as a thickener in dishes where I used to use corn starch

It's important in that it's your body's way of cooling you off when you might otherwise overheat, but it's not an indication of how many calories you're burning. You should be breaking a sweat when you work out but it's not like being drenched in sweat means you had a better workout or will see better results than if you…

Yeah it feels silly at first, but you get used to it. I read somewhere to imagine your child has run out into the street and you have to run down the gravelly driveway in your bare feet to rescue him, and it clicks you back into proper stance if you're struggling with it.

Take it easy getting used to running barefoot. The reason running barefoot is so awesome and helps prevent injuries is that it strengthens your feet and legs - but like any strengthening, there's going to be some very real muscle soreness in the beginning and you need to give your legs and feet time to recover. Also to…

Working out only helps the inches come off in so much as it helps you have more of a calorie deficit. The only way to lose the fat off your thighs, hips and butt is to keep dieting - and even then, for most women that's the very last fat to go :( Personally, I would keep doing both strength training and cardio. As the fat…

If you really can't stick to the diet for more than 2 weeks, may I suggest building "falling off the wagon" right into your diet plan? I find when I say "ok, this Saturday, I'm going to eat EVERYTHING I'm craving and just let loose" then it helps those other days not feel so grim. Then you don't feel guilty because you…

it gets easier the more you use it :) once you've entered most of your regular meals and snacks at least once everything's close at hand to go in and add again.

Don't stress about it. Your eating should make sense with your personal schedule, not some arbitrary time on the clock. Evening is just the time most people tend to binge or snack a lot because they're not doing anything else (like working) to keep them otherwise occupied. I just focus on eating the right amount of food…

It's better to avoid artificial sweeteners than to drink them, but if you're desperate for a treat and the diet sodas make you happy, I don't think it's a big deal. Personally I've switched to mostly drinking plain carbonated water (made at home with a Soda Stream) with some lemon or lime added for flavour, but I still…

Sounds like you're trying to follow Atkin's initiation? If so, the apple is off limits, but I would avoid counting calories if you're restricting carbs that severely. Combining a strict virtually-no-carb diet and a low-calorie diet is way over the top. If you want to go the MFP route, ditch the Atkins.

If it's a potluck type event, bring big trays of raw veggies and fruits or a yummy salad, and load up on them so that you're at least snacking socially and don't feel awkward or left out. And you can always plan for and allow a small serving of chips if you really love them, count out how many you've planned to allow…
