derpderp, the bad form on my squats buggered my hip and my knee, but mostly in my hip. I think it was the fact I was leaning to the side as I was going up. I'm glad I didn't push to do all the reps! I skipped yesterday's lifting session and did yoga. Then today I still felt off and did more yoga. It is annoying on how much…

I was supposed to lift today but I'm still feeling busted up from the last session, mostly in the right hip. I'm thinking my fatigued form that was leaning to the right on squats pulled something. With that said, I did yoga instead and feeling a little better and loose. In weird, I got more flexible than last time I did…

I have big calves and thighs. I've been doing strong lifts for months now, if you see on the May check in my squat work weight is 225lbs. You know what? My calves are getting SMALLER. All my wide calf boots are all floppy looking. My thighs are shaping up too. As you lose weight your legs will trim up, you aren't going to…

My husband does the "put the phone across the room" tactic so he has to get up and walk across the room to shut it off. Don't worry about looking lame in front of people. I never notice anyone when I'd go to the gym (I lift at home now) unless they were doing something really creatively weird.

I was happy today, I hauled around a 25lb bag of sugar around costco like it was nothing! Squats 5/5/5/2/2 - 225lbs - Attempt #2. First two sets were great. 3rd set I was starting to good morning i and turn in my knee. After that I gassed. Much better form than last attempt, but it seems like a long way to go. OHP 5x5 -…

First off, this crap - really? 205 warm up?!?! UGGGG Squats 5/5/3/3/1 - 225lbs - First time at 225lb! 2 full plates (if I owned two full plates). My form was just not there. Later sets I'd get 1 or 2 good reps, then start leaning to the right adding too much weight to my knee, which made my knee angry. When I got knee pain…

135lbs is when you'll be at 45lb plates, so no stacking needed at that point if you don't have bumpers. You could pull off 115lb with 35lbs plates, but they'll be harder since it's lower to the ground, but I pulled it off.

I've been at an industry Tea conference/expo the last 3 days. I blog about tea, so I was doing press work there. Anyways, I was at the tea expo last year so people I met last year recognized me. There was a few comments of "oh, the tea must be working for you, you look trim." Nope, just lifting weights. If anyone…

I've been busy at a convention for 2 days, and I got one more day left. I juggled my lifting days so I only have to lift once and man, I'm tired. I've been running around for 2 days with camera equipment and heavy purchases. My back has been cracking all day and I've been feeling stiff and awful. So accessory work then!…

You might be surprised how far you can go. OHP can be sneaky, it may be a rough session last time but be no sweat the next. You are still new to SL, so it's mostly form you gotta hammer in and sometimes it just clicks and weight moves easy, then you gotta figure out what you did. But yeah, there's lots of factors in play -…

Yay, I lifted early today, before dinner instead of 9-10pm. I was starved at the end but dinner tasted amazing, even though it was pretty boring under seasoned sousvide chicken breast and broccoli. Squat 5x5 220lbs - PR WUT! I'm surprised I got these in one shot. These looked and felt great too. OHP 5/5/5/3/3 77.5lbs…

Oh I have grip issues on deadlifts, when I was DL around 185lbs my fingers are barely holding the bar.. with switch grip and chalk. I do have an old wrist injury that's healed but my grip is shot, and my time doing BJJ probably made it worse. I do hangs (not sure if they are helping yet) and now I lift with straps because…

I worked nights for awhile. It's rough, everyone on shift gained weight over time. Also doesn't help where I was working if you needed to buy food the only thing open was 24 hours donut places and 711 convenience stores. The struggle is that feeling of tired and fighting not to eat to feel awake. Set a schedule to eat, and…

So, I decided to chalk up last session of SL A as lack of food and shark week and do one more attempt at that bench press before I deload it. If I didn't attempt it I feel I never actually went after it, if that makes sense. Squats 5x5 215lbs - PR. Wut?! I was surprised myself after grinding through 210, I figured 215…

I've been thinking about this month's goals for a few days. Continue:* My MPF streak * Lift 3x week. I also should lift earlier in the evening instead of 10pm. I've been lazy to get out there after dinner. * Deadlifts - 1x5 220lb goal Add in:* Grip work! Even if I just do a bar hangs when I'm bored. Since I'm DL with…

Friday Night squat night, yeah! Squats 5x5 - 210 - yeah, nailed it! OHP 5/4/3/4/3 - 77.5 - First time attempting 77.5. Bleh and typical. In gross, I somehow tore some callous I didn't know I had on these. Deadlift 1x5 - 200 - PR! The mental "oh crap this is 200lbs" didn't hit me until I finished the first rep. Then I…

April Goals check in! 2. Check! Up to 210lb squats, Bench 105lbs, Deadlift 195lbs and just barely squeaked out OHP 75lbs 3. I think i've figured out rows lol! 4. Yessir 79 day streak! 5. Derp. I did negatives like twice, so no. Now, what to do for May...

I'm doing IIFYM with a 20% fatloss cut, while doing SL. I did SL previously for a couple months and then took a few months off - getting back at it in January. Admittedly, I'm starting to stall/deload now 4 months in. I don't do any accessory work. I bet you'll do well too since you've done SL before and have understanding…

Bad off day today, sucks as I've been wanting to lift for 2 days! Squats 5/5/4/4/4 210lbs - 3rd set and I realized I wasn't feeling good. I've done brazilian jiujitsu so I know that feeling of about to faint (from being choked) as stuff was tunneling and turning dark as well as feeling light headed. I checked my breathing…

Another cardio session since my husband needs to drill more holes in wood in the garage next to my squat rack.. making more dust. If he doesn't vacuum this time I'm not baking him cookies. So I did another session of GSP Rushfit, with 10lb dumbells. Turns out the isometric moves are now a piece of cake, holding a past…

I'm looking for lifting buddies too as right now majority of my friends list don't lift! I'm doing Strong Lifts right now and IIFYM numbers for food/macro. If anyone adds me be sure to include a message.

OHP gives me some nice ab feels too from all the tension and stabilization. If your core isn't stable, you are going to do wacky stuff with your back to press the weight up. (if you are doing seating OHP you won't get this).

Booo, I couldn't lift today! I lift in my garage and yesterday my husband sawed some wood and made a huge mess that got everywhere, like it snowed fine sawdust everywhere inside. He also didn't clean it up. Usually he'll run the vacuum while he does it, not sure why he didn't yesterday. I got through my squat warm ups, but…

@krokador I'm doing mixed/switched already with chalk! My grip has been getting better, but lately it's been I'm just barely hanging onto the bar at the top of the DL, so there's been a few "oh shhhttt" moments. I can't do hook grip as my hands are too small that my fingers can't even touch my thumb. I'll check my strap…

Shark week isn't going to stop me! Squats 5/4/3/5/5 210lbs - First time squatting 210lbs. I botched form here and saw on video right after my fail sets that my chest wasn't up. Fixed it for the last sets. OHP 5x5 75lbs - PR whoo hoo, got my goal of doing 75lb OHP this month! I had one more session to do it, I was little…

OHP I use a thumbless grip like what Alan Thrall demonstrates in his videos. With a thumb full grip I simply cannot hold the bar well and need to adjust it at the top of the lift as the bar can't sit in my hands well. Plus my wrists bend too much and I got an old wrist injury to watch out for. Deadlift I use switch grip on…

Gracie University is really good and exceptional instruction. They got a few free videos on youtube too. I've trained at the actual in person school and the instruction is the same and many of us use the videos to study with. You'll need a partner though as it's brazilian jiujistu.

I bought an SD card and shoved a bunch of music on my S5 from my computer. The Samsung music app that's built in works pretty well. Google Music is another great option.

I do IIFYM + macros over MFP's numbers, I think I would be starving otherwise. Managing my macros has been helping my lifting performance too than just counting calories. http://iifym.com/iifym-calculator/ When are you getting hungry? I get massively hungry the day after I lift, so I take some slow digesting protein the…
