Hey girl, welcome to MFP. I'm 36 and from AR. Add me if you want to.

What she said. Sometimes it's just a matter of making exercise a priority in your life. Look at your class schedule, and schedule your exercise around that, and everything else around those two.

I considered the 10-15 lb weights at first, but thought that with all the weight that I'm used to dealing with, those might be too low. But if that is what's recommended, those are the ones I'll start with.

Congratulations on your victory. You look absolutely amazing! You are an inspiration to many!!!

Is it possible for a woman to get quite large lifting weights? Yes, absolutely. But for the average woman who lifts 2 or 3 times a week, using 5, 8, 10, or even 15 pound weights, and is on a restricted calorie diet? No. The kind of muscle that the OP is talking about takes years of daily lifting and extreme amounts of…

Every person is their own worst enemy! I haven't been able to log my food this week, because I haven't been home, and where I was didn't have enough signal for me to do it on my phone. So I figure I consistently went over my goal calories. But, I needed to be where I was because of family illness, and now a family death.…

Tami, welcome to MFP. Try to encourage your husband to join as well. Diabetes can be a tough illness to live with, both for those who have it and the ones that live with people that have it. But it can be managed in a way that does not cause other problems. I have a 96 year old grandmother who has had diabetes for over 40…

I think that if everyone is completely honest, improving their looks is one of the reasons they choose to go on this journey. There is nothing vain about wanting to look your best. Vanity is someone that dresses up to the nines just to lounge around the house by themselves, and are constantly staring at themselves in the…

The theory behind eating the extra calories that you work off via a workout, is that your BMR is set to what your body requires calorie wise to do nothing other than live. So let's say that your BMR is 1,500 calories a day. You exercise daily, and burn 500 calories each day. So you're body is only getting 1,000 calories a…

I'd spend a short time walking to loosen up those aching muscles, then do some stretches to help keep you limber. You'll probably find that it helps relieve the soreness tomorrow. The second day after a hard workout is always the worst at least for me anyway.

@ jailoggio - I just want to say that I think it is really considerate for you to offer your services to those that are on their journey regardless of where on that journey. It would be wonderful if more people with the needed certifications would also follow suit. Thank you, and I'm sure at some point I will be contacting…

If you are having trouble with accountability to yourself, find a friend or loved one to be accountable to. Even if it's a friend on here that has access to your food diary. That friend my be able to look through your diary each day and suggest more filling, less calorie foods that you can eat that will fill you up without…

Hi, I'm Lisa. I joined MFP over a year ago, and totally forgot about it. I heard about it again on another Forum that I am a member of, and decided to join. Well, when I entered my e-mail address they told me that I already had an account. Imagine my surprise. So I requested my username and password, and started this…

I was on topamax for nearly a year for migraines. The only thing I lost on it was my hair, by the handfuls. I actually had to go have what was left cut off, because I didn't even have enough left to wear it up in a ponytail and it look like anything. When I went to have it cut my beautician wanted to know where the rest of…

I don't have 100+ to lose, but I do want to lose about 80 pounds. I'm currently at 234, and would like to get down to about 150, maybe a little less.

You need to talk to your doctor about how to approach losing the weight. With the pre-diabetic condition and the hyperthyroidism, he/she is the best person to talk to. I'm assuming that your doctor probably prescribed a medication for the hyperthyroidism, and it should help with some of the weight loss. Also ask your…
