I watched some more ripptoe videos that said to bring elbows as far back as possible and raise in order to create a shelf relieving any pressure off of the elbows and wrist. It is much less painful than how I was doing it. I have never squatted any weight more than 5 reps. I'm so damn frustrated. I'm going to try holding…

Got another one. I worked my squat from 65 to 180 lbs. work weight in 3 months, with a 215 1RM...as you can tell from this video things have since gone downhill after a planned 1 week break from SL5x5, that turned into 3 weeks. I am "feeling it" in my lower quads, almost in my knees, which means I am too far forward? My…

I wasn't able to get video yesterday however I did make an attempt to keep my arms vertical and bar in my palms on ohp. Without video I can't say for sure that I did it correctly but I can say it worked a different area of my shoulders than it had been and a failed only 3 sets in.
-
^^ Why are you being so mean?
-
To me its more arm postion that doesn't feel right. I've been implementing the bar in palm on bench. Nonetheless, I will get a video of how I feel, based on the videos and info y'all have provided, I should be doing ohp in regards to both grip and arm position.
-
This could explain my epic struggles with ohp. I've only progressed from 45-85lbs even 90lbs at one point. I think it was a riptoe video that was showing elbows in front (clean position). I knew this didn't feel right at all. I knew I needed to place the bar in my palms but could not physically do it and push my elbows…

Oh wow, here comes the funny people with their Gifs and sarcastic remarks... can't you people just be supportive. Loose weight for life!
-
Thank you!
-
And I should quit thinking "wrap elbows under bar to the point of having them in front of bar" on ohp?
-
On the way down, break at hips first similar to squats?
-
Dopeitup- thanks for the suggestion. I do notice discomfort in my wrists during this lift I'm trying to press from what I think is a power clean "rack position" and can't seem to get my wrists to quit bending back. Is it a flexibility issue?
-
Thank you. Should be fixed now...I think.

Please critique my form. Thanks guys and gals! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agzbOjk4H-E - OHP set 5/5 75 lbs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ed49UcirPfw - Warm up DL set 155lbs Sorry for the fuzzy video quality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64cdS1kPkL0 - Working DL set 185lbs

Now it's AT&T high speed internet. Silly MFP you're so mean trying to tempt me like that.

Pearls here....MFP must think I'm full of ****.

First off, I want to give props to those who are doing SL in a deficit! I am in a surplus and still struggling. As far as the mental issues that come with an upcoming assumed failure I can relate. I'm 11 weeks in right now, weeks 1-7 went great with consistent gains and strong finishes on each lift (except the God forsaken…

I failed ohp early and often. I just reached 90lbs for the second time and knocked it out after adjusting grip and width. It is certainly the most difficult lift of the program. What boggles my mind is failing with (what I believe is) adequate recovery time and an energy surplus?

When I was losing weight, my favorite food was hungry jack pancakes. I ate one serving everyday with a tbls of syrup and a .5 tbls of butter. Then I got tired of it and moved on to ice cream sandwiches.

^^This thread needs to go no further. Talk about inspiration!

Contrary to what some say, this site is all about support. Whether your goals are to gain weight, lose weight, maintain weight, strength train, or cardio train, you will never be alone when using this website. You will certainly find people on here who you can relate to and those who can relate to you. Stay at this long…

^^Needed to be re-stated. Please do not over complicate things, it only makes it easier to give up. You do not have to eliminate certain items to lose weight, only reduce your intake of all items to a level slightly below what you burn. <<It's. that. simple. Good luck, and great for you for deciding that now is the time!

Cipher- I've hit a bit of a wall this past week and today I found myself stopping at 4 reps (in my case) when I should have just tried the 5th even if I dropped it.
-
G.Jerry- I see. I have a friend who does 5-3-1, last week when I spoke to him he said it was deload week and he did not seem happy about it to say the least.
-
I was referring to the deload required after 3 consecutive failed attempts on SL5x5. After failing squat, for example three sessions in a row, a 10% deload is required and then start working back up from there.
-
Dang a whole week of deload? That would suck.
-
Thanks JoRocka! When I start to look at the weight I'm at and think it's not much, I have to remind myself of where I started and realize I am repping these weights a total of 25 times per session (except Dead lift of course).

I tend to agree as well. My 3 yr old doesn't have the capacity to know that an apple with some PB on it is better for her than say a kit kat. Now go look at my diary and say "who are you to talk mr. taco bell lol." Point is, as an adult I feel I should help teach her that there are differences in foods. Some foods we eat…

Same here, I think there was a quality change for the worst from elementary to middle. Glad I'm not the only weirdo who noticed...not that you're a weirdo lol, most would probably think it's weird to be thinking about the food quality of grade school.

I could post a good one about break room vending machine ridiculousness. Could a brotha get some peanuts or something, I mean come on, 20 different candy bars?
