Im not a lover of breakfast either but i have since diagnosis forced myself but i have to eat it at work, so i have been getting Atkins bars/ready to drink shakes or those little snack packs of nuts and seeds you get from the supermarket. Im trying to limit my carbs to reduce my blood sugars. Im not sure if thats any help…

congratulations, with regard to your morning highs, have you tried excercising after your evening meal before bed? I have found that this is the only thing that has got my morning readings down as they were always my worst ones x

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply, it's helped get little perspective it's all a massive learning curve being diabetic and managing it. I have found my tastes have changed so much already so you never know I might not even fancy my usual cider (here's hoping anyway) Thanks again x

Hiya I can try........ the way I was explained it was that if you have type 2 diabetes and your body still produces insulin then this means that you are insulin resistant as lower insulin sensitivity, increases insulin resistance. Heres a link which might say it a bit better…

Hi robert, I was offered a meter before i was put on insulin by my diabetic specialist. I was just on metformin. I had however already bought my own meter and strips as i was trying to control my BG's through diet before then, so she just added the test strips and lancets to my repeat prescriptions list, Obviously its one…

Hi, i know what you mean and I have always felt the same myself, I have been diagnosed a little under a year and my AC1 was 10.2 and they allowed me 3 months to try and control it with diet and while i did lower it i didnt lower it enough to be given the all clear to try for a baby. So i am now on humlin i at night time…

Hi Lynne, I am type 2 and am trying to lose weigh and keeping my carbs down too. I'm mainly doing it by eating what I would usually but without the mash of potatoes and rice etc. I do still struggle sometimes but god loves a trier I believe. Feel free to add me if you like x

Sorry to hijack this thread, as newly diagnosed i am wondering when you are giving the amount of carbs you stick to is this net carbs (total carbs-fibre) or total carbs? I'm a bit confused by this low carb lark, and really want to get my head round it? thanks
