I'm up at 4 and in the gym by 4:30 so I know what you mean about not wanting to get up any earlier. I do a stack of Pre-workout supplements to get my energy up, that's about it and during my workout I'll drink some BCAAs mixed with glutamine. So nothing solid until after my workout. I don't mind not eating anything before.…

TeamRIPPED??? Abs are made in the kitchen... Stick to a strict calorie deficit, stay active to help burn more calories (the gym work you're doing is fine), and BE PATIENT. for most males you'll have to get to 10% to start seeing abs and often times the stomach is the last place the fat is lost.

^Absolutely agree x2 For every study that shows the benefits of taking in Whey or fast absorbing protein directly after a workout, you can find one that shows it isn't necessary as long as you are getting your protein in during the day. If you can get all your protein in the form of whole foods, thats fine. As also…

Patiently awaiting a separate thread filled with heated debate on this topic alone...

I'm on board with everyone else. 1lbs a week is GOOD weight loss. regarding your comment about carbs, i looked through your diary and saw that on some days as much as 60% of your calories are coming from carbs - but you're a runner so you need them to fuel your workouts. if you want to alternate anything, you might…

^^ THIS x 1,000,000,000,000. My cheat day is every saturday and I go ALL OUT (BBQ pulled pork AND Brisket, BEER, ICE CREAM etc. just this past Saturday alone!) In the words of Chris Jones (Physiques of greatness) "Hell NO I don't count my macros on my cheat day... It's a CHEAT day!!!" But as mentioned above, do what works…

based on your bf%, height, weight, age and lifestyle, have you done calculations on what your maintenance level is? if you keep an appropriate macro split based on your fitness goals and continue to workout, it'll be hard to put on the extra weight you are afraid of gaining. but i know exactly what you mean - its all…

Not to be preachy, but it all boils down to your willingness and determination to stick to your goals. People can reply with healthier choices, systems that help them pull their hand back, or ideas to help you stay on track, but those are meaningless if you aren't serious about changing this habit. Question: is it the…

^ this... However, preference according to taste isn't an accurate assessment of quality. The presence of BCAAs, amounts of carbs and fats should be taken into consideration. Also the true % of protein per serving is important (i.e. the label may say 20 grams per serving but you're really getting much less). Go with a name…

you've gotta go with companies you trust and honestly i dont trust any type of whey that is sold at walmart. all wheys are NOT created equal. unfortunatley, unless you are willing to spend $100 or so to have it labratory tested to see how much whey you are actually getting per serving you'll have no concrete way of…

in the truest sense of the word, a "cheat" meal is one in which you (a) don't count calories (b) go over your macros and (c) just don't care what you eat  if you are fitting a cheat meal within your macros or your calorie count, then it is not a true "cheat" meal in my opinion. there are days when i purposefully go…

what is up with people doing bicep curls in the squat rack at the gym??? I shouldn't talk because that's where i do my shoulder shrugs for my traps... haha:tongue:

I'm up at 4am, drink a pre-workout mix, get my intra-workout mix ready and ready to lift by about 4:25-4:30 - luckily my gym is right down the street from me! Honestly, i was NEVER a morning person! I hated getting up in the morning, but now i actually look forward to waking up and hitting the gym that early. it takes 21…

My mon-fri meals are the same week to week. i alternate between chicken and tuna for lunch and dinner is different everynight, but i repeat the same mon-fri dinners week after week. makes it much easier to log in advance. I find if i have some variety during dinner it keeps things interesting. I could probaly do the same…

Pure Protein chocolate peanut butter bars for the win... I eat one everyday and look forward to it! Delicious... If you aren't concerned about sodium as much (I'm not) beef jerkey or turkey jerkey is a good snack filled with protein. Depending on the type, you can get anywhere between 24-32 grams of protein per 2 oz.…

JUST MY HUMBLE OPINION... Took the liberty of looking at your diary.... two things i notice: (1) you can stand to eat cleaner (i.e. lean meats - chicken breast, fish - both are high in protein). I noticed at least 2x's this month when you ate McDonald's or Wendy's. (2) What are your macros set at? Your Carbs are high in…

because it's human nature to stick to the status quo. not disrupt the ebb and flow of a normal routine. success means work - hard work - and some/most people are not willing to work that hard. this, i admit includes me to some degreee. there are many aspects of life where one can fear success. weight loss is one specific…

Anywork out program like Insanity or P90x will work well... If you diet correctly. You CANNOT out-train a bad diet. I've personally seen people have great results with both and not so great results. The ones who didn't have good results were the ones who continued with their eating habits and basically ate the same as they…

Same as almost everyone. I plan a few days in advance because i pretty much know what i will be eating for my meals everyday - Pre-workout/Post-workout/B'fast/Lunch/Dinner/Snacks. It's actually something i look forward to doing.

Gotcha! Thanks for the info!

I'm just curious and have an honest question. I never log exercise on MFP. I primarily use it as an easy way to keep track of my macros and calories. I never eat back my calories. So here's my question: If you aren't going to eat back your calories, why do you log the exercise? Like i said, i've never used that function…
