*shudder* I tried this too. And the pizza crust. But then I promised myself that I wouldn't eat things I didn't like. If I want mashed potatoes, I have mashed potatoes. And when it's time for pizza, I have the real thing. No sense wasting the yogurt/milk/cheese calories. :D

*hug* I've been there. You keep cutting calories and cutting calories until you're left with almost nothing...and the weight still doesn't come off. I'm not going to treat you to a diatribe. You aren't under-weight (122 at your height is still considered a healthy weight), but your diet is NOT healthy. If you've stopped…

I DETEST weight training. It *hurts*...and I don't like pain. :D Unfortunately for me, I can't argue with the results. I'd much rather do cardio. You know, work up a nice lather of sweat while I'm reading a book on my iPad. Good times....but in order to get my shape in...well...shape, I have to lift. Bah. ;)

That's what we like to call "self-correcting behavior". :)

I agree with whoever said that the re-gain is often caused by choosing a method of losing weight that is unsustainable. I lost about 60 pounds on the South Beach Diet, but it was just miserable for me. Not everyone derives enjoyment from eating. My son doesn't. My brother didn't. But I do...and eating in a way that robbed…

I really like Panera. They put calorie content right on the menu. There are a number of soups and salads that I eat in combination that are VERY tasty. The only problem is that there is shortbread there that is to DIE for. :)

I've thought the same thing....like maybe I should just never eat dessert again since if I have one dessert, I'll eat another 2 hours later and then get up and have 2 bowls of Lucky Charms for breakfast. In which case, eating became shameful and furtive...rather like drug use. I've recently noticed that the way I was…

The question isn't whether cutting carbs will help you lose weight. It will, if for no other reason than that they tend to be calorie-dense and that many people are unfamiliar with what a proper portion size is, so they eat too much. The better question is whether cutting carbs will help you keep weight. And the answer for…

This is going to sound nutty, but a corset actually does help. Not that I'm trying to discourage you from trying to actually lose the inches, but if you run out of time, a good corset can take off an entire dress size. Uncomfortably, of course. :D

I switched from 1200 calories to 1440 per day. It doesn't make sense, but it worked. Granted, I'm only losing 1.5 pounds a week, but that's good enough for me!

Man, my Aldi isn't that cheap! :) I still shop there for produce though. They're a lot cheaper than Wegman's and they're adding more fresh foods all the time. Used to be, you could only find cheesy poofs and generic hamburger helper there.

I don't know if there is a "normal" metabolic rate, except whatever one helps us survive. I can guarantee that the people suffering mightily in the Horn of Africa would consider 1200 calories "underfed". It's better for Europeans and Americans to burn calories inefficiently, so why not aim for that? I've been on very…

Have you tried taking a 2-week break from your weight-loss routine? Now, I'm not suggesting that you go out and eat 4000 calories a day or anything, but find out what maintenance calories are for your weight, eat at that for 2 weeks, and keep your workouts light. Maybe all you need is a system re-set, so to speak.

Smoothies may work well for you if it's the texture that bothers you. You can hide all sorts of greens in there. I've used spinach, kale, escarole. You can hide carrots and cucumers in there too. Basically what I do is combine spinach (or other green leafy) with orange juice and water. Then I add frozen fruits (pineapples,…

I look at it this way. If you are using the food diary and watching your calorie intake, you needn't worry if you want to have a banana at breakfast. It's empty calories you should look to avoid. Bananas provide nutrients that your body needs and natural sugar that your body needs. I wouldn't eat a dozen at a sitting, but…

I usually go for oatmeal and brown sugar with a little almond milk or else 2 eggs and 1 piece of whole-grain toast. Those things usually stick with me until lunch time. Every once in a while, I have cheerios with almond milk (no sugar) with banana, raspberries or strawberries on top. But it makes me hungry faster so I…

OP - your face IS beautiful. :) Every person is different, of course. I had a friend in college whose body was trim, but her face was actually round and she had chipmunk cheeks. On the other hand, I read an interview with Courtney Cox and she was lamenting the fact that in order to have her body the way she wanted, she had…

That is fantastic. That's a simply a great reminder that even when it overwhelms me, no single characteristic defines me. And to whoever asked - yes, I pray. I like to think that's how I got to THIS point.

Thank you for the encouragement. I'm generally not a needy person, but it helps to hear "Hey, you can do it."

150 is my initial goal, but I wouldn't turn down 135 either. :)

Me. I like Weight Watchers and I didn't even mind the monthly fee...but I bloody well hated their food database. I was constantly trying to guess how many points an item had because it was either 1. not in the database at all or 2. in there with point values from 5 to 12 points. It took me too long. I switched to MFP…

My brother struggled with this as well. He was in the military and was considered malnourished. He was about 6 feet tall and weighed 130 lbs. He did not enjoy eating and weight gain was a constant struggle. One thing I know he did was nuts and avocado, in other words, healthy plant-based fats. He also added hemp protein to…

I've read that if you lift weights, that your metabolism stays elevated for some period of time after you work out. I often save my "treat" eating for after I've lifted. I also read that cardio doesn't boost metabolism as well. True or false?

1.5-2 pounds per week average. Some more, some less.

It might not seem so, but you gals are SO LUCKY. I have no hips. I have no rear-end. In fact, just today I was at the grocery store and I noticed that my jeans were ever-so-slightly too big at the waist. I am not kidding when I say that if I hadn't pulled up my pants at regular intervals, they would quite literally have…

That's just a flat-out victory in my book. Congratulations! Alcoholism is so destructive psychologically, physiologically and relationally. It's the very best gift you could have given yourself. Keep up the good work!

It really IS so tempting. This is the first time I've tried to lose weight without starving myself. I actually find myself having the following conversation with myself. "Cheryl, if you aren't hungry, you aren't going to lose weight". I have this conversation even when I DO lose weight, and you can imagine what it's like…

One "bad" meal isn't going to make or break your diet. The problem with splurging for some people is once they let go of the rigid control of their diet even once, they have a hard time going back. As long as you don't give up, you should be fine.
-
You look fantastic! Thank you for sharing with us.

I think it's unwise NOT to treat yourself once in a while. A can of pepsi a week might keep you from getting frustrated and giving up completely. Go for it!
