IF is my all-time favorite way to lose weight. I tried it with an impressive amount of success for a couple of months over the winter. Now that I think on it, I'm not sure why I stopped doing it. I did the "fasting for 24 hours" kind 2 days a week. Once I got used to it, I didn't find it difficult at all. I think I'm going…

I LOVE fruit and I eat it because I like it and because its healthy. But I've found that calories from fruit are nearly useless in helping to fill me up. In fact, I am less hungry eating nothing for breakfast than I am when I eat fruit salad. Something about all of those simple sugars. Maybe try replacing some of your…

Weight watchers worked for me. i did lose some weight. However, their food database is the pits and really, all it is is tracking what you eat. It was very frustrating as I could never my food in there. Granted, they had every fast food item known to man listed. But if you eat dinner at home with (dare I say it)…

The only diets that are sustainable are the ones that you enjoy. If you actually like eating lots of meat and little bits of everything else, you can stick to it. Honestly, it differs from person to person. I have proven time and again that I am incapable of sticking to a low-carb diet. I've tried South Beach at least 4…

Thank you, all. I think I'll try a couple of different ways and see how they work for me over the next few weeks. I have to say, I can sort of understand how people can sort of enjoy fasting. It actually DOES produce an interesting effect.

This is one of the biggest problems that I personally have with weight loss. I feel like I'm doing "great" until I cheat and then I feel like I've ruined the diet and completely failed. I discovered that I am poor at assessing personal failures and accomplishments so I now rely on actual numbers. I went over on my calories…

True that it is not a federal law...but i don't know of any state that doesn't have some sort of regulation concerning breaks.
-
If you live in the US, your bosses are not allowed to require you to work that long without a meal break. That being said, what I would do is to keep some Kashi bars on hand and keep one in your purse. At least eat before you start your work day.

I wasn't able to do low-carb. I tried at least 4 times. Why did I try so many times? Because the weight MELTS off. It's like magic, and I'm not making that up. The problem is that I seem to be incapable of sticking to it. It causes me to have incredibly strong cravings and after 3 or 4 months, I binge on something stupid…

I believe that woman was letting her frustration speak for her. Personally, I think she has it backwards. When I see a thin in-shape person at my gym it is a good reminder that a great body doesn't come for free. I always think, "Wow. she obviously works hard for that body." And I also wonder what food choices and habits…

Unsweetened Almond milk Cheerios Sorbet popsicles (100 cals) popcorn (I have a salty food weakness and this satiates it the best) blackberries bananas baby spinach

^^^ Same. Usually a pound or a pound and a half. Every once in a while I'll step on and see a bigger loss seemingly out of nowhere...and sometimes no loss at all.

I did. It wasn't a big jump in calories, but I went from 1200 to about 1500. I went from losing 1 lb every other week or so to losing about 1.5 every week. My theory on this is that eating that few calories made me generally less active. At 1500, I have tons of energy thereby burning more calories (I'm just guessing,…

Going to bed hungry is a terrible idea. Deprivation makes you over-eat. Also, could somebody explain to me why one should drink a glass of water before eating? To what end? I'm all for staying hydrated, but it's not like water is capable of satiating hunger.

She's gorgeous, there's no doubt about it. And interesting that she's managed to successfully model with a non-standard body. I'd say that this speaks more to the perfection of her face (and yes, ta-tas) than anything else. That being said, she has the sort of body that would have inspired great artists of the renaissance…

I eat somewhere between 1400-1600 calories and I eat back about half of my exercise calories. I usually eat fruit, cheerios (or oatmeal) and almond milk for breakfast. If I'm going to splurge, it tends o be at lunch time. If I'm hungry for a gyro or sushi or something, lunch is when I have it. Dinner is a small portion of…

I'm sure that I have one. Until the past 5 months, I have never once ever eaten normally. Mostly I over-ate. I could make a lot of excuses about a horrible childhood, but in the end, I chose to put food in my mouth. It was like a damned drug and was often the only thing that made me feel better. Then when I got to college…

I know it sounds much easier than it is...but you have to ditch the guy. Losing weight is difficult enough. But when you're in a bad relationship that's causing depression it's like fighting your way upstream. We're all pulling for you.

I LOVE retro clothes. I drool over the dresses on ModCloth. I want those awesome dresses to look great.

If I don't log, I eat too much. I consider the 10 minutes per day or so of work worth it to keep the weight off. I look at it as part of my chores like doing the dishes or vacuuming.

I suppose it depends on where you're from. I live in the US. There are a good number of things you can get from your local Aldi. -canned tuna -frozen tilapia -chicken breasts -ground turkey You also get a lot of bang for your buck out of soup. Make a big batch of your favorite and freeze into individual portions. Buy fruit…

I didn't have any trouble with WW not counting fruit points....and I eat a LOT of fruit too. My issue is that their food database is lousy. I still eat a lot of fruit -- at least one thing at every meal, but often more than that. I can easily eat 2 cups of cantaloupe with dinner without blinking. I'm happy to count it…

I LOVE my fitbit. It's my favorite gadget. It does 3 things for me that have helped my weight loss efforts. 1. Information is power. Want to know how much a sedentary lifestyle is costing you calorie-wise? You figure it out very quickly with fitbit. Sitting around instead of moving can cost you upwards of 800 calories! 2.…

It took me YEARS of doing crazy (and I do mean crazy) dieting to figure this out for myself. Anyone ever do low-fat raw vegan? Holy.Mother.of.Zeus talk about a diet that'll make you miserable. The same things don't work for all. I appear to be incapable of doing a low-carb/paleo style diet. I've tried at least 3 times. But…

I don't drink except for the VERY occasional glass of red wine. And by occasional, I mean once or twice a month. Drinking slows my weight loss disproportionately to the number of calories it adds. Also, when I drink I get sick more easily. The alcohol not only slows down my metabolism, I think it also slightly compromises…

Here is what I do. Part of my food choices are based on nutrition. I try very hard to get 3 or 4 servings of vegetables and 2 servings of fruit every day. I do this for health reasons. I have also discovered that said choices often make very little dent in my calorie consumption. I also make a concerted effort to eat lean…

Casillas is a superstar, no doubt that. He certainly kept them in that game yesterday. No, England isn't going to beat Spain, Rooney or no Rooney. Still think Germany might though.
-
I believe there is some debate over whether the current Spanish side is better or the 1970 Brazil squad. But I'd probably go with Brazil too. In any case, if they continue to play like that, Germany WILL beat them.

I should have qualified that by saying that I don't care what Lalas thinks either. Also, Ballack is hot. Ahem. Not that has anything to do with his football knowledge, but still, it's a treat to see him in his nifty suit every day.

Well, I'm a fan of said best team in history and *I'M* losing sleep. :) I really do think they might be a bit worried. That was uninspired at best today. And I lurves me some Torres, but he was just short of awful today.
