Have you two used a calculator to figure out what the TDEE (total daily energy expenditure, in case you haven't heard this term before) for each of you is? I like this one: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ Just pick your activity modifier and a realistic deficit. Custom set this as a goal in MFP instead of…

Exactly! Exactly not!! It's calories in v calories out, and not about cutting anything out. Restriction and deprivation are not sustainable, and that's the goal. Learn to enjoy what you love and make it fit within your calorie goal so you can make an actual lifestyle change you can live with.

Nobody is attacking you. If someone was offering free financial advice online, you would ask about their background and credentials, yes? The same applies here. If you had originally posted about offering encouragement and support, trading "tips" or whatnot, you'd probably would've made 50 friends by now. The way you…

You shouldn't be worried about dieting while healing. Your body needs the calories right now. And I agree with the above posters. 1500 is awfully low for a man. How did you come to this amount?

I just use a sulfate free conditioner, but my hair is super - stupidly - curly and I can't shampoo everyday, anyway. (I'd end up looking like a Q-tip...)

You can't spot reduce unfortunately and BMI is great for statistic purposes, but it's not so great as an individual measurement. I would suggest getting your body fat professionally measured, or at least start taking body measurements, and start a progressive (heavy) lifting program. That will help immensely. Best of luck!

46 yo female, 5'6, 141 lbs, 21% BF, and maintaining for 1.5 years at 2500 calories. Currently been away from the gym for the last three months due to injury, but I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things! :)

That's a myth. Meal timing is irrelevant.

Double chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, because we just watched the pilot of the X Files with my 11 year old. It was time he knew we are not alone, and that deserves good cookies.

I've been maintaining since Dec 2013.

Calories in, calories out. May I ask your stats? I just checked out your diary and a calorie goal of 750 is dangerously low for almost everybody. That will mess with a whole lot of things, including your hormones - which are crazy enough with menopause. And hormones play a part in how your body regulates everything,…

This is an awesome progressive bodyweight program: www.startbodyweight.com

Homemade pizza is super healthy!!! And OP, I eat whatever I want, whenever I want. I just stay within my calorie limit.

I'm breaking my resolution to stay out of the forums because this thread is flipping awesome!!!

Agreed. Everyone is different. My sedentary TDEE is 2300+ at 46 years old and I'm not a large woman. And the only way to really know is to track your intake and monitor your daily fluctuations, etc. over a long period of time. MFP is a tool you can use to help you get informed of what is best for you. OP: This place is…

Physical and mental health benefits that can be achieved through resistance training include: improved muscle strength and tone – to protect your joints from injury. It also helps you maintain flexibility and balance and helps you remain independent as you age weight management and increased muscle-to-fat ratio – as you…

Halifax here. And even in the midst of a yukky storm, my city is still pretty. :)

This x1000. I went on my last vacation with the mental attitude of pure relaxation and you know what happened? I drank a LOT of pina coladas, ate what I wanted when I was hungry, stopped eating when I felt satisfied, and overall lost two pounds. Stress will set you back. Do what you can now to get healthier and go and…

It's not accurate for me, but I'm in maintainence and I believe that a lot of it has to do with body composition. As to losing the eight pounds in a month, that would be about right for any diet, not only low carb, so I would hate to see you cut out an entire food group without a medical reason. Carbs are going to fuel…

Those are my stats, too. (I lost 100 and gained back 10 - the final 10 pounds were all in boobs and butt, so I decided to get them back! lol)

You forgot The Pogues "Faiytale of New York" But seriously...it's not Christmas without the bad music, it it?

1200 cals is WAY too low for an 18 year old male, healthwise.
-
I can do both, but not at the same time, haha! ;)
-
Nope. I won't even run to catch a bus. WY dance on a bar?
-
I've been here since the spring of 2012. I hit maintainance just over a year ago so my goal was to stay steady. So far, so good!

Yuck. Fig Newtons?

This. If you're maintaining your weight, within normal fluctuations, why are you entering it multiple times a week?
-
I was 100 lbs overweight, too, and I ate at a deficit and got off my butt in order to lose it. (I didn't even cut out chocolate or wine.) This Joe guy's movie is an infomercial, not a documentary, like another poster said. You're eating around 1200 cals a day and this is the reason for your weight loss.

Roasted cauliflower is one of my absolute faves. I'll use maybe two tablespoons of oil for a whole head and that's about four servings. So it's not that many calories for half a tablespoon, plus you NEED dietary fat for a number of reasons. (Especially as women...it helps keep our hormones in balance.) Fat does not make…
