I have bad wrists too and an instructor once told me to spread my fingers wider and move my weight from my wrists further up to the joints of my palms. It's helped. And repeating days is not a bad thing at all - your practice is yours. I didn't check in for day 2, but it was a little more difficult. I had to modify a lot…

I restarted my yoga practice last night with a 20 minute beginner sequence on Do Yoga With Me (Yummy 20). I felt pretty loose going into it because I had an hour session of Reiki beforehand, but my funky knee was still really tight. That made some poses a little difficult, but I relaxed into wherever I could get to and it…

He connectedness is so Important! I had that with lifting but it is not a gentle exercise. Yoga does feel like your doing something kind and good for yourself. I know that gains in strength and endurance will come with regular practice but my first goal is just a feeling of comfort in my body again. :)

Hey there! Thanks for this. It is exactly what I need right now. :) I've been on MFP a long while, and I've had some medical issues the past few years that have kept me pretty inactive but I'm ready to get back on the horse, so to say. :) I used to lift, but that's not in the cards now. My doc has said to start back to…

True, but even people with medical issues can use trial and error over time to figure out how their particular variables fit into the equation to make it work for them. It's the "over time" part that I find most people struggle with. Great post, OP.

Your baby is going to require about 500 calories per day, and you personally will need at least 1200, so that's 1700 right there. That's the lowest anyone should go (1200), that's why it's MFP's default minimum. And it may be too low for you personally. What are your stats, activity level and your goal?

Before you do this, ensure you're logging accurately. Are you weighing all solids and using measuring cups for liquids? Are you choosing accurate database entries? What are your sodium levels like? High levels can cause a lot of water retention which would mask weight loss. Are you getting enough fiber in your diet? Are…

Well, we are. Evolution has made our brains more developed than other mammals so we are capable of reasoning, ethics, etc., but the cortex doesn't fully develop until age 12. Kids can naturally be pretty violent- outwardly or inwardly. We all have to teach our young ones that hitting isn't okay. But brain development can…

I have a low iron problem, too, and that's why my ethical foray into vegetarianism in the 90's was a bad idea for me. I force my meat and potatoes family into at least one non-meat dinner per week, though. :)

I'm tired and achy for three days a month and there's no way I'm doing anything strenuous. A 10 minute yoga stretching routine to get me started those mornings is all I even want to manage. If it's a particularly bad day I may only manage child's pose and some meditation, and I'm completely okay with that. For me, the "no…

I'm using ON's dutch chocolate soy powder right now. It's not too bad. I like the egg white powders, too. Pea, rice, hemp powders are so, so gross...

You said you're weighing, measuring and logging everything. Are you sure you're choosing reliable database entries? Some of them are way off. Also, as said, HRM are unfortunately an inaccurate tool sometimes. When I was using mine to calculate calorie burns, I lost more slowly, too. I also found that my fitbit…

Seconding, as well. Your post implies you KNOW it's temporary water weight and that it does come off. Changing your mindset would be a lot healthier for your body than messing with your fluids. If it's really something you can't get past, look in to lymphatic drainage massage. I had to start doing these after abdominal…

Ummmmmm....that happens. Every single day. For labiaplasty and anything else you want, too. http://mic.com/articles/129882/this-is-what-it-s-like-to-kickstart-your-vaginal-makeover Seriously messed up people out there, man.

Doesn't matter what type of gas you use in your car if you don't put enough in to get where you need to be, right? Eating too little to the point of having horrible symptoms isn't going to get you where you want to be, either.

Met my hubby there eight years ago... I have no idea what it's like now, however.

One thing Martin mentions for women, though, is to be aware of negative hormonal changes. I experienced this doing 16:8 for an extended period. Once I adjusted to 14:10 I lost steadily with no issues. (Note: Once I transitioned into maintenance, I found I couldn't physically eat so much in that window, so I no longer IF…

My take on it is this. It's based on BMI, right? (Which is a great tool when looking at a population, but individuals vary.) I've been pretty inactive for the past year nursing various injuries, but maintaining my actual weight. However, my body fat percentage has increased about 4%. When I used my Fitbit at 18% BF (low…

Exactly this. My calorie goal is 2100. Macros are 130P, 210C @ 4 cals/g is 1360 and 82F @ 9 cals/g is 738. Factor in rounding and you have 2100. Yesterday my calorie intake vs my macro "total" was off by only 20 calories, but I'm really careful to pick entries that aren't too far off the mark. Are you weighing your food on…

A fast beating heart doesn't burn extra calories. Ask any overweight person with an anxiety problem. Is this what you're doing? http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/the-real-tabata-brutal-circuit-from-the-protocols-inventor.html Otherwise, you're doing a form of interval training, crossfit, etc., so again, 100 is most likely an…

I confess I haven't been to the gym in over 13 months, and I kinda like being able to maintain without it...

I eat chocolate everyday. It's usually what's for breakfast, actually. I've already started buying Easter chocolate. And I've maintained a 95 lb loss for over two years now. Just make it fit into your calorie goal. You don't plan on depriving yourself for life, do you?
-
I'll take that definition, too. I've got ice cream on one end, the bakery at the back and pizzas and make at home donairs on the other end. I'm such a clean eater! :)
-
Agreed, a HRM is good for steady state cardio, not tabata, weight training, etc. Also, an online article I read said tabata burns maybe 15 cals/minute (which is awesome) but even 100 would be a little high, actually.

Any solid advice you'll get is based on your answers to these questions. :)
