  • Soo.. its kinda quiet in here! How is everyone doing? Anyone having a rough time? I've found that the gym is always PACKED this time of year with people starting new years resolutions.... I think I'm using that as an excuse not to go. I just don't feel like fighting for a treadmill and then feeling like everyone is…
  • No I have never had that - thats horrible - don't let it get to you, clearly it was sent from someone who has some major issues. Maybe try posting this on the tech/support forum or asking Mike, the creator, directly. They may have a way to block the user from coming back.
  • Grew up in Maine :) Currently in Burlington, Vermont Happy New Year :)
  • I really worked hard this week! I really thought it'd be two pounds, but I'm happy with the one. We're finally through the holidays - lets push through to valentines day!!! :) Valentine's Day goal: 207 (-10lbs) Week 1 (12/20) - 217 Week 2 (12/27) - 218 Week 3 (1/3) - 217 Week 4 (1/10) - Week 5 (1/17) - Week 6 (1/24) - Week…
  • Oh THANK YOU for starting this club  . I think I've been pretty chubby my whole life, I know I sure as hell THOUGHT I was plump back in high school but looking back I realize I really wasn't. Sure, I was bigger then my toothpick friends but by no means was I huge. Its been mostly mental for me, well until adulthood,…
  • Wahhoooo!!!! Tackling gym equipment is scary haha, I've been there - good for you!!! I love the elliptical now - you'll be surprised how much longer you'll be able to go once you get comfortable with it. I started out dying at 15 mins now I can go for 50! (well on some days...haha other days we fight, but those…
  • Great to see that some people lost some weight this week!!! I, sadly, did not - but I feel like gaining one pound is managable -- I'm so on top of it this week!!!! I have one more family function to attend on Saturday and I'm going to really focus on portion control :) Valentine's Day goal: 207 (-10lbs) Week 1 (12/20) -…
  • So, this is my first challenge - I had a stupid plateau for the whole month of November where I just gained and lost the same silly pound.... December has proven to be much better - I've been loosing a pound a week, which is what I'm aiming for - but I've been wondering - what are you gals doing to "step it up" for the…
  • Do you all have heart rate moniters? I go by what is on the gym machines and often I go over 200... I have to work really hard at staying in the 190s. Although - now that I have been working out consistantly for the last 3 months I have noticed that I usually can keep myself in the high 180's for the most part. Are gym…
  • Wow are some great posts on this topic! I also think that MFP may over estimate calorie burns. I am overweight and out of shape - so when I really push it, naturally I'm going to burn more calories then the fit person next to me. I did zumba on Monday and was wearing my GoWear Fit (same as a bodybugg, even made by the same…
  • Hellooooooooooo week one! :) Valentine's Day goal: 207 Week 1 (12/20) - 217 Week 2 (12/27) - Week 3 (1/3) - Week 4 (1/10) - Week 5 (1/17) - Week 6 (1/24) - Week 7 (1/31) - Week 8 (2/7) - Week 9 and END (2/14) - Off to go do Zumba! :)
  • Well, I'm going to weigh in tomorrow and get my starting weight for this challenge. I'm excited to have something to give me an extra push :) I've had a lot of trouble working out for the last two weeks. I've been working a lot of overtime and we've had a lot of visitors in our home for the holidays. So my mini goal for…
  • I've never done a challenge before either! I've been afraid to set weight goals because, like most people, I've failed at loosing weight a lot over the course of my life! But, with the help of MFP and doing zumba I'm down 13lbs! So, I think its safe to say it is for real this time :) I have a lot more weight to loose but…
  • I had the same issue when I started! My scale died after my first week so I got a new one and was 4lbs heavier! Once I got over the initial devestation I just changed my starting weight with MFP and moved on. Three months later and 14lbs down I kinda forgot that even happened! You can do it - the starting weight doesn't…
  • You can make your goals what ever you want too! To change your goals go to "My Home" then click on "Goals" then click on "Change goals" and customize from there! I'm seeing a nutritionist and she gave me my goal numbers. :)
  • I do zumba in a class setting at my gym, the classes are 60 mins long and I realllllly push myself. I'm 25years old, 5'6, and 218lbs. The least amount I've burrned is around 560. I just burned my highest amout about 2 classes ago. I tried my hardest to do all the jumping and extra steps which really paid off - I burned a…

  • Welcome! I was slow to start using the forums too, but I've found them to be excellent for support and motivation! :)
  • I've never done it on a video game console, I do it at a dance studio but I love zumba - it is just what my workout needs. Its different, fun, and a great way to burn a BUNCH of calories. I totally agree with one of the posters, force yourself to go at least 3 times. The first and second class can be overwhelming because…

  • In my opinion the protein is set really low on MFP so your just fine :) Protein is good, keeps you full!
  • I also work 3rd shift. I record it under the previous day - From when I wake up to when I go to bed all goes under one day. But I know a lot of midnighters that do it the other way and log their food 12-12. My diary is open if you want to take a peek. Maybe try it each way and see what is more comfortable for you. :)
  • Yep I'm right there with you! Just push through this week, you'll be back under 160 in no time!
  • Wow, you posted this at a perfect time for me. I really needed to read this! :) Thanks.
  • Congrats!!! I've toyed with the idea of trying C25K but I'm just not sure I'd be able to do it. You've given me a nudge in the right direction! Awesome job and dedication! :)
  • Sounds like you are in the right place! Welcome to MFP, I've found an wonderful community here and you'll be an awesome addition with all your knowledge! Keep your chin up - you can do this. :)
  • This is probably the nicest post I've seen! And, I totally agree!!! I often look at pictures and think "oh, this is their BEFORE picture?!"
  • Everyone does it differently. My diary is open if you want to see. I log like a dayshifter. So when I wake up (around 4 or 5pm) I log breakfast, then lunch around 9pm, dinner is around 2am. But I put it all under the day that I wake up. Like right now its 4:45am and I'm logging the food I'm eating under Friday. Maybe do it…
  • Thanks everyone - good to know I'm not alone. I guess I will try to loosen the laces on my sneakers. I do move my feet around quite often, but it never seems to help - Oh well. :) Thanks for the suggestions!
  • Bumping to read this tread. Not sure if I'm ready to share yet, but I can relate to a lot that has been posted on here. Nice to know I'm not alone.
  • My nutritionist told me to read Savor: Mindful Eating, Mindful Life by Thich Nhat Hanh. I got about halfway through it and loved it. I really hung on every page. Then my own life got in the way and I haven't been able to pick it up again, but I plan too. Here is a good description of the book.…
