The more important question is if you are happy with your current weight. If not, find a way to lose until you are.

41. 3 weeks in. Going well so far, but I could always use a swift kick in the butt to get me going. I can give them, too ;)

Stuck in an unhappy, sexless marriage. Can't even find a FWB buddy b/c no woman wants anything to do with a married guy, but I'm trapped in it for a few more years, at least.

Oh h*** YEAH! Those snotty little hs brats have nothing on you! I' bet when any adversity comes their way they cry to mommy and daddy and they get their little noses wiped for them. You have to do it all, and overcome it all, and you do it! Every day! Keep it going! Thanks for the inspiration!

same here After being married 13 years. No one initiates anything. Ever

Which of these two has been systematically moving jobs out of the US for the past 20+ years while their quality deteriorates? And then cries for help from the American taxpayer, whom they have been consistently screwing over? That would be GM/Chevy. Ford >> GM My family all drives Hyundai

What should be done when you have DOMS that lingers for several days so you can get on with your life? Should those muscles be worked at all? Should they be fed more protein? and water? Any suggestions to reduce the time DOMS lasts? Sorry if these are dumb nOOb questions, but thats what I am. Thanks

Thanks for all the great tips! Male 6' 3", 297 lbs, 41 yo Got any for losing moobs? I know I have a long way to go, overall, and I'm just getting started, but these things have to go!

This is just what needed today. I was disappointed to see only 1 lb lost this week, but I'm sore all over from a couple of workouts on my Bowflex (first time I've used it in several months) and some unusual manual labor.

I got a very cheap Timex HRM ($9.99 on clearance at BB). All it logs is current HR and times your workouts. You get to do the math for calorie counting and guess at your average HR during the workout. I'm an electrical engineer, so the equation is no big deal to me, but it might freak some people out. Like most things, you…

Does 41 & in engineering grad school count?

Great topic & thanks for all the responses! I'm seriously considering doing this.

I don't have DDD but I have 3 bulging discs in my lower back, one had a microdescectomy 2.5 years ago. My physical therapists, while rehabbing after the operation, stressed to me to keep everything low impact and never do too much of any one thing. Especially sitting on my can! You would need to find your own limits, but I…

Count me in. I'm going to the doc soon to get the Chantix prescription. Wish my insurance paid for that! I'm also just starting Nutrisystem.

this explains how 7 years of driving truck for a living ruined my body I don't do that anymore, but now I'm sitting at a desk a lot, but at least I can get up and move a lot easier and more frequently.

I have a NordicTrack, that was not the cheapest, but had some features I liked and some that could be better. I'm ~300 lbs so I needed a machine that wasn't going to break as soon as I got on it.

Hello! I live in Wellington and work @ CSU. Looking for hiking buddies who won't whine about how slow I am LOL

This is great info. Any lifting tips for a guy with a surgically repaired, but permanently damaged lower back? I'm just getting started, but did some lifting ~20 years ago I have a bowflex and an elliptical to work with. I can do most things with all the bows on at least 10 reps (its old) Goal would be strength.
-
I have similar questions. I have an old Bowflex that is missing some pieces so I can't do everything possible with it. Just chest, resisted crunches and curls, pretty much. Plus, I'm not exactly a lifter or anything, but I can do 3 sets of 10 on the bench with all the bows fairly easily.

Sciatica is horrible! All kinds of strange things can happen when a nerve is compressed. Try adjusting posture or positions as suggested, but if it doesn't help, maybe go harder for the shorter period of time you have to work with, take a break and hit it again!

Thank you for posting the link :)
