My OH has always had a lower sex drive than me too. He says that the best way to help is to try and seduce him/go to the effort to turn him on, and suggests one way of doing that is to "show myself off" in sexy lingerie ;) Another way could be suggestive talk, or any kind of run up to foreplay really.

Yeah, most of the resources I've read advocate for 1g protein per lb of lean body mass (not total body mass) for optimum muscle retention when losing weight. This puts me at about 85-95g of protein per day. Your calculations of 1.8xkg of total body mass puts me at 99g - sounds about right. I'll continue to aim for 80-100g…

Update: I bought the Optimum Nutrition 100% Casein in Cookies and Cream and it tastes AMAZING. Cookies and Cream Oatmeal = possibly the best idea ever.

Nailed it.

I think the less confident you are in yourself, the more likely you are to settle. Maybe her weight affected her self-confidence and she settled for this guy thinking that she wouldn't have many other options, meaning the relationship isn't quite right. Now that she's gained a bit more self-worth and is realising there ARE…

I've already replied to a couple of forums like this, but why not  I decided I wanted to get fitter and look fitter after I saw Scarlett Johansson squeezed into her Black Widow costume and it made me mega jealous while I was sitting there, watching the movie, stuffing my face with popcorn

Well, most of the stuff you read on here will tell you that you can't "build muscle" and lose fat at the same time. You can, however, increase strength and retain the muscle you already have whilst cutting fat. An easy way to do this is to: 1. Ensure you're getting enough protein (1 gram of protein per pound of lean body…

Quite an eye-opener with some interesting results for an informal survey - cheers! I'd also be interested in seeing a correlation between not eating back exercise calories but meeting protein macros calculated for muscle retention.

I've heard that the more you exercise, the more your sweat glands adapt to be ready to perform at any hint of physical activity so they can be efficient in cooling the body down. It's an unfortunate and annoying side effect that comes with being fitter.

There are supposedly antioxidant benefits of green tea. I drink a lot of it, as I'm trying to cut my artificial sweetener intake, of which I had a lot of in regular tea and coffee; I've simply replaced most of my regular coffee and teas with green tea. At the moment I'm drinking green tea flavoured with orange which is…

You look amazing! Congrats on your loss and good luck with maintenance

I got to 5k by running until I felt tired, walking for 2 minutes, and then running again. Once you hit 5k doing this a couple of times you're usually in a position to cut down the number of "rests" you need and eventually you can get there without having to stop and walk at all. Alternatively, like the previous poster…

Oh wow, thanks for all your replies  I have been eyeing up some ON casein but not sure if it's sucralose or stevia sweetened - will definitely check that before I buy. I'm just so put off buying protein powder coz it's so expensive and it's such a waste when it turns out to taste disgusting :grumble:

Bump

I've been doing karate for 13 years and never felt like I looked like a martial artist. One day after watching a whole bunch of superhero movies I decided I'd finally start working towards the body I want and started logging my food from that point on.

Geez people can be harsh. I totally get where you're coming from - I've been house-sitting for the past few weeks and have had to dabble in grocery shopping for the whole house and I always feel super proud of my purchases (lots of fruit and veges, a small amount of meat, bread, yoghurts etc) Then again, there are…

I'm looking forward to having my long-distance boyfriend see me and (hopefully) be amazed by the difference

Congrats, I'm really happy for you

Whoop

Ditto what TheRealParis said - also, I took a look at your diary and you really don't seem to be eating enough. Check out how much you should be eating at either calculatorlab.com (weight loss goal date) or your TDEE/BMR at www.fat2fitradio.com (the idea is to never NET below your BMR and to eat about 80% of your TDEE).

I've heard that upping your protein and doing strength training can help considerably

Wow, if that calculation is correct, if I net at around 1,200 calories for 5 days then I *may* start skipping periods. I'm 5'0" and I weigh around 120lb - if I shouldn't be netting that low then I dunno who should!

I have pretty sensitive skin too. At the moment I'm cleansing and moisturising with cetaphil and have started using a couple of drops of rosehip oil everyday just before moisturising. I've also started taking flaxseed oil supplements. My skin broke out in a really weird rash with redness and a lot of dryness but after a…

Get yourself a PS3  Or if you want brownie points from the missus: clean the bathrooms, sweep/vacuum the floors, sort laundry, make the bed and set things up for a nice night together (if you know what I mean  )

Anyone's free to add me - my diary's always open :)
