  • I think what people are trying to say is Skinny is a poor description. You can be skinny and healthy and you can be skinny and unhealthy. Striving to be something that has so much variability as well as so much personal bias to it is a difficult goal to aim for. If you ask a person with an eating disorder that is below a…
  • I was in high school, but My dad works for an electrical company and had to go in to work to do nothing just incase something happened. His entire work knew the likelihood something would happen was low and yet they had to be there because of the hype. His boss was interviewed on TV because of it and I remember watching…
  • Depending where and how your back is hurt you may want to look at a recumbent bike. Avoid running especially on hard surfaces because of the jarring contact when your foot hits the ground. An elliptical may be good as well, those are meant to be low impact. Swimming is great for most joint issues because of the reduced…
  • You are right BUT people thought when computers crashed we would lose electricity, satellites would fall from the sky, etc and those things would cause the end of the world.
  • First I try to figure out what I'm having for the day and figure out how much I can have of certain things. Then I use a kitchen scale or measuring cups to get to that amount. If I don't eat it all I will try to measure it again to and subtract it from the initial qty. By doing this I can stay under my calories for the…
  • The "right" friends can most definitely help! I have friends and coworkers on here and having them helps because they can see what i'm doing and I feel bad having to face them at work if I gorged myself on something. Basically my mind goes, I don't want to go through that so lets not give into that craving. Even though I…
  • I do that too, sadly that show I had reserved for that was removed from netflix, and I haven't found another show I want to watch like that.
  • Which are you more likely to use? I have a ton of equipment (I got an elliptical and a station bike off craigslist for $35 each) but I don't use it nearly as much as I should. I did start using the bike a lot more when I move it to my living room and can see it. Can yp put equipment where you see it and really have to…
  • Yeah i'm not sure, I really just want to know why and if the whole thing is the problems or which piece but I can't get an answer. As far as I can tell the transmitter will not connect to the watch (the heart is empty). Every time I to measure heart rate it comes up with "Check heart rate transmitter" I have made sure…
  • Thanks! I hope they do

  • I apologies for the long post but I didn't have a lot of info to go on. Here are something to look at: 1)One thing I read about the fitbit is that is a glorified pedometer. The problem with pedometers is it doesn't measure how much energy you put into take those steps (did you just lift you feet and put them back down or…
  • I heard great things about the Polar FT4 so I got one from bodytronics.com, but I can't seem to get it to work. I went to polar's website and tried what it said in the troubleshooting and when that didn't work I contacted bodytronics. The told me contact Polar for more troubleshooting, I did and still haven't heard…
  • I have found in the past having a decent substitute can help make you feel like you are indulging some without the guilt afterward. Does anyone have some low (or lower) calorie holiday foods? We always have my Grandma's pumpkins squares but she has been getting forgetful and won't be making them anymore. I got the recipe…
  • I like it, so true too. I love equating the diet to being a vegetarian, kosher or diabetic.

  • I read my husband the quote from your co worker and he said "Replace 'Gaunt' with 'threatening' and it is probably accurate" Don't let other peoples comments get you down. What you should do is talk with your doctor. If they say you should stop losing weight then you should listen. If your SO is health minded and…
  • I am! I have already lost ~60 lbs and I am looking to lose between that in order to reach the next level in the BMI. I know BMI is bogus but I am tired of being considered Obese. After that I will need to re-evaluate what I need to do so it would be perfect! I will also be joining a 16 week weight loss at a gym/studio near…
  • Other Mayan calendars go past Dec 21st. It is like the difference between a normal 12 mo calendar and a 16 mo calendar. Dec 31st does not mean the world is going to end. That is it and move on to the next incorrect prophecy please.…
  • I always question bathroom scales so for the longest time I didn't have one because we have a calibrated drum scale at work. Which honestly is lucky for me. However when both my husband and I decided it was time to lose weight we figured it was time to get a scale since he wasn't as lucky as me. So when we got the scale,…
  • I agree I do both, I have a friend on MFP and she just estimates what she eats and she estimates how many cals she burns at work (Plus has her activity level at moderate). Looking at her diary it is obvious she is not tracking correctly. Between the two I know she is eating more and burning less cals than she thinks she…
  • http://www.vanderbilt.edu/AnS/psychology/health_psychology/ketogenic_diets.htm The ketogenic deit was originally developed to treat epilepsy, lack of carbs for energy means the body turns to fat for energy. It turns fat into Ketones. Excess ketones are not stored if sufficient water is drank and then it is peed out. This…

  • Same here, this is how I have lost most of my weight, 57 lbs since the beginning of this year :D
  • actually it is, if you are low enough carbs (ketosis) and drink enough water your body will literally pee out excess fat. You won't loes anything unless you have a calorie deficit but if you go overboard and maintain ketosis you will maintain weigh :D
  • Keto is a low carb diet, so you can search for keto recipes, there are some at the link below http://www.reddit.com/r/ketorecipes/ Also when counting carbs, fiber can be subtracted since it isn't digestible.
