I won't even respond to this because all of the food company employee *kitten*/trolls who constantly police these message boards will tell me to take off my "tin foil hat" and go eat a nice healthy bag of Doritos and a Big Gulp... after all it's just calories and all calories are the same according to them...

Dumb question but can you further explain macro vs. micro nutrients? I see a lot of people throwing those terms around on here and I am not convinced they know what they mean... (I know I don't)

Source of the article?
"I'm interested in lifestyle changes that I'll keep up with, not some fad diet, aren't you?
I am not judging you - just trying to understand what this means? Change generally implies going from one thing to another - or is my reading comprehension wrong on that?

Ummm and Avocado. Ummm a pepper out of my garden. Ummm fesh meat at the local butcher - how do you define "processed"? So you define "processed" as a person picking an Avocado and shipping it to a market? Intriguing...
-
What do you consider lifestyle changes exactly? Not being a wise guy, just curious as your post seems to be arguing both sides of the fence...

And I'm the drama queen??? ha...

I would define junk food as heavily processed (man made) items high in fat, sugar and calories and low in nutritional density. Items from the center aisles of the super market. Classic example - A Twinkie: http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-hostess-twinkies-i113361 How would you define it?
-
Sorry but I don't agree and it is misinformation - no one is bashing anyone who eat's junk food occasionally - we all enjoy something decadent. The whole discussion focuses on the fact that the OP was frustrated that her friends eat nothing but junk food but still lose weight. Sorry, but debate me if you will this is not a…

Yes, but he invited the question by saying he - eats crappy and lost 65 pounds - implying he suffered no negative effects from his habits - which is the entire point of the ongoing discussion - it was a fair question and his response speaks for itself.

Cento is a large brand??? Really??? A family built company based in Deptford NJ (farming area) with 109 employees and 145 million in annual revenues is comparable to big Agra - really now???? http://www.manta.com/g/mmlg7xd/alfred-m-ciccotelli-sr Hmmm.... By comparison here are the numbers for Monsanto and ConAgra (which I…

I don't - point is the OP has the impression that people who eat whatever they want without gaining weight are healthy - they generally aren't. You made the point that you "eat like hammered ****" and have lost 65 pounds which infers the same thing - so I am curious to know your cholesterol. Now that I have explained my…

What are your cholesterol numbers?

For all you know they could have been buying it to donate to a food bank - never presume something is what it appears to be!

body weight does not equal good health! There are many folks who can eat a ton and "never gain weight" - however what is taking place on he inside is super destructive - high cholesterol, high BP. There is also a growing phenomenon in this country now known as "skinny-fat" - that is, a person's weight is perfect according…

My personal feeling is that carbs are the biggest culprit in weight gain - I think there may be science to support this, but "good fats" like those in olive oil and avocados are needed by the body for good health...

This is just SO right on the money - such great advice - if more people realized diets just do not work and it is about lifestyle change, I am convinced more people would succeed. When it comes to delicious food I am a champion weakling - but changing my outlook now to eating healthy, satisfying, nutrient dense meals - I…
