  • Every day you work out will suck less. One of my goals is to get good at pushups. Starting from not being able to do pushups...even on my knees. My first day, I was supposed to "go to burnout" and I did....8...on my knees. But by being consistent, there are measurable results. You can do it, as long as you KEEP doing it. :)
  • This place gets weird in the middle of the night. I'm gonna go cuddle my kitties now.
  • Please don't restrict your calories too much, too soon. Reduce gradually. If you're used to eating 2,500, start by eating 2,000 - 2,300 and then each week, reduce by 100 calories until you get down to a good-sized deficit (MFP's calculations are helpful). Eat lots of protein to keep you feeling fuller, longer. I have no…
  • Panda, you probably aren't even going to see this, but every time I see your thumbnail I think "BUTTS!" Then I remember they aren't butts. That's ok, though. I'll live.
  • Even with little money, there are some things you can change that will go a long way towards healthier living: ditch the white bread for whole wheat (It has to say 100% whole grain on the label not "enriched wheat"), turkey breast rather than bologna, NO soda. Water only. No chips. Or at least switch to unbuttered popcorn…
  • I don't cut anything. I went to a nutritionist a few years ago before I started losing weight and she chuckled. I have a "near-perfect diet...just for two people." Whoops! So all I did was cut in half, not cut out! The Trader Joe's cheese section still sings its siren song to me and I give in. Life would just NOT be worth…
  • This is fantastic. Also, the fact that you use cat pictures = <3 Thanks for the info!
  • Peanut butter? Honey? Rice?
  • Because those sub-continenters are known for being such fatties. /blink To the poster above who said butter is better because of fewer ingredients: absolutely! I applaud the people in this thread who sensibly recommend moderation. And even posted the latest research re: saturated fats! Good job! There's hope yet for…
  • Good luck to you :) Once you get in the swing of things, it'll be easier. Even with a wonky schedule. I have tins of almonds all over my apartment/work/purse. Hummus is another tasty snack. I like it with baby carrots. If you have a Trader Joe's near you, there are many marvelous wonders to be had there (some things are…
  • Blink. Blink blink. You trollin'??
  • Eat. More. Eat nuts. Peanut butter. Fruit. String cheese. Lentils. How to "possibly eat more" is to mentally decide that you need to do the right thing and fuel your body. Start with a serving of almonds and proceed from there. You're clearly not eating enough if you're putting yourself into a net of wayyy below what you…
  • Be careful doing yoga with a DVD. You might want to wait on that until you can find classes. It's very easy to injure yourself if you aren't doing the moves correctly and you don't have an instructor around to help correct you. I learned this the hard way! Also, no 3lb weights with Jillian! That's not going to get you…
  • How'd you know I'm a crazy cat lady? :D
  • That's just prescribing and encouraging accelerated poopin'. Which is not the same thing "drink this juice you spent silly amounts of money on and have magical fairies clean out your nasty bits!"
  • Depending on what kind of supplements you are taking and also eating low-fat, you could even have some form of vitamin toxicity. Low-fat isn't a very good thing to do to your body. Fat soluble vitamins need it, neurotransmitters need it, your hair, skin and nails all need good fats. Definitely follow the advice of others…
  • It's called "poopin'," and humans are quite adept at it. Also the aforementioned liver and kidneys. It's their job. This cleanse stuff is BS. My boyfriend's Dad is a colorectal surgeon and one of the fastest ways to get him worked up is to ask him his professional opinion on cleanses.
  • Now, I'm not one for correlation=causation, but THE MOST AMAZING BODIES in this thread are the dissenters to the initial advice. Just sayin'. Edited because I forgot a comma. I'm That Person on the Internet.
  • I read this whole thread and it had a lot of really useful information. But I just have a quick comment for Razique-- I checked out your profile and I see that you're in France. I studied French for years and there is NO WAY I could write such a detailed, scientific post in French the way you did in English. You are…
  • This is getting into the realm that would best be suited to a mental health professional. Working out for three hours at the gym and "forgetting" to eat is not conducive to a healthy lifestyle in any way.
