  • Find something you like to do. I hated exercise, but I started running and once I got the hang of it, it's like oxygen to me. Don't get me wrong, I get tired and take days off and it's hard to get moving sometimes, but in general, it's a big part of my life now. Other folks feel this way about Zumba or hiking or swiming or…
  • We just watched Date Night last night and I was convinced it was going to be lame but I nearly blew a gasket laughing. It was too funny... and in that vein, I like 40 Year Old Virgin and am a fan of Anchorman for life.
  • It can go either way for me. Sometimes I work out (or run several miles) and I'm starving and other times I am not even close to hungry even though it's past my dinner time. In any event, my advice is to drink something. Some water/gatorade/chocolate milk, etc. Sometimes our thirst is confused for hunger. And then I…
  • I don't have a set time. the answer is whenever I can! In the summer I'm a morning person because I'm a runner and it's light out and cool enough, but in the winter, sometimes I wait until after I get home (between 4 and 7) so that it's warmer and light out. I prefer the morning work-out, I have a better day all day that…
  • Hey, I hear ya. It's annoying. I love that subway commercial they show every new year when ppl are eating burgers and fries and they bust their chair or exercise ball or their buttons pop off and put out a light. Not that subway is great or anything- I just find it funny. It is up to us to make better decisions, but as I…
  • Wish I could be more helpful! I cook to separate meals for my husband and I. It's a darn shame. Darn shame. p.s. super good luck on your half! I'm going to do one in April (If I can ever get registered!)
  • I say weigh again in a week and try not to think about it in the mean time. I know things like water weight, TOM, and constipation can totally jack up my scale (and most other peoples.) When I go on vacation or have a holiday the sodium and just general change in pace usually causes between a 5 and 10 pound change- 10…
  • Yep! It's not exactly the same, but it will certainly be a great substitute! I actually like it better than pasta. I cut mine in half, scrape out the seeds and strings, poke a few holes in the top of the shell and microwave in a dish with a little water in the bottom for 8 to 10 minutes and viola I have a substance much…
  • Well- this may be TMI- but you asked. I always used it "wrong" and drank them with a piece of fruit or something and I was pretty ill most of the time I was drinking slim fast- I decided the way it works is by running my butt off to the restroom and not having time to digest the calories. Hope it turns out to be okay for…
  • I went through the same thing- when I was training for a marathon! I am so sorry to hear this. It is frustrating and terrifying all at once. Just take it easy, watch the calories and you will be fine. I actually lost weight while I was off the exercise. The frustration and sadness ( I missed my exercise!) was the hardest…
  • It's tough. I was addicted to diet coke- especially from Mcdonalds (don't eat the food, love the diet coke). I just started thinking about what it really was nutritionally (nothing) and that I was paying a dollar for something serving the same purpose as something I can get for free from the tap. But it's tricky, can't say…
  • And I would like to add that if you LOVE sweet cereal, you can always mix some in with something boring- a 1 to 3 ratio of sweet:healthy cereal is better than falling off the wagon completely and giving up all together.
  • It's a free site. I know the ads are weird, but I promise, Al and Mike don't hand pick 'em. Just think of it as practice for the real world. Hey- right now mine's showing fiber plus...not terrible.
  • There are lots of good options-but few hard and fast rules. Here is what I eat on a regular basis: Kashi heart to heart, plain cheerios, shredded wheat (not frosted), for a night snack/dessert: honeynut cheerios, crispix, frosted flakes. Rice Krispies should be okay, but I think that they may not be great in the fiber…
  • Here are the ones I know: HTH: hope that helps TOM: time of month IMHO: In my humble opinion BUMP: I'm posting so this will stay up in recent posts and be saved in my topics. LMAO: Laughing my *kitten* off.
  • It is unfair- but I like to think that the fact that the rest of me has shrank in comparisson helps the boobs problem....I like to think... :frown:
  • Hi Bobby- it sounds like you are doing the same thing the recipe calculator on MFP does, just on paper.
  • sure. Click food, then recipe and add the ingredients, and divide the meal into servings. MFP will do the math! HTH
  • I can't tell you what is right for you, but I know that almonds are a healthy food- even with the fat. If it fits in your goals, I say go for it! Just watch the portion.
  • Veggie burgers. I know, I know, you can make 'em at home, but it's fun to go out sometimes. I'm a vegetarian, so sometimes it's a bit easier for me. At BWW- its' 250 calories. The side salad is 200 calories so you can come in at under 500- even if you add some medium sauce yourself. At Dennys I eat- 2 orders of egg whites,…
  • Super job! I love that smile on your face!
  • Umm... it doesn't have to hurt- if you follow the plan and change what you eat as well as how much, it can be pretty easy in a lot of ways. Good Luck!
  • Umm... It sounds like you have a good handle on what you are doing, but just so you have some answers, here are my thoughts: -pay attention to your nutrients- the mix of carbs, protein, etc. -follow MFP- use your food diary, don't fudge- count everything. -Perhaps cut out your cheat days on the weekends, or cut back to one…
  • I eat quick oats ( the plain from the tub kind) and I add 1/2 tsp of sugar (2 grams) and 1/4 tsp of vanilla. It comes up to 160 calories, 4 g fiber, 3 g sugar (with the oats and vanilla total), and 5 grams protein. It's pretty tasty, too.
  • I say keep it. McDonalds will be around forever (as will most other junk) but your granny's cake? I say keep it and eat it slowly. She baked it with love!
  • Yeah. I would agree- last time I had a killer cold I took in about that much, and once I recovered all was back to normal. Some people don't even believe in "starvation mode." I would guess it's possible, but one day shouldn't screw it up too bad. HTH.
  • Hi Stinger. The thing about hunger is it is influenced by a number of factors: hormones, psychology, stress etc. Your body needs food to live, but the way it communicates this can be changed up by a bunch of things, not excluding depression, addiction, and eating disorders. I'm not saying you have any of those things, just…
  • The Middle by Jimmy Eat World. Reminds me I've got it under control, others' opinions of me are not supremely important, and that a little patience never killed anyone. :) there are others, but this one always applies. Loving this thread.!!
  • I second (or third) the eggs comment. I also used to mix it with brown rice. I also often eat shredded lettuce with lots of salsa on top and a very little bit of sour cream or cheese (it makes me feel like i'm at a mexican restaurant!). I also sometimes bake my own tortilla chips- just slice a tortilla into pieces and then…

  • Hi Conor! I joined the site at the pestering of my cubicle mate as a joke before I even really decided to lose weight. I logged my food and realized how I could change the smallest things. I am smaller now than the day I graduated high school (and a heck of a lot healthier). I remember only a year or two ago looking at my…
