I've always done it the way SopSongBird suggested. I know the times that I walked and the times that I jogged. I had a nike+ so I knew pace, and would just go for a general walking pace and then add the total time I walked, and then find an average of my running pace and tally that up. So if it was 5 minute warm up, 3 min…

I was in grad school until this summer, and in September I will start a full time internship. I think a schedule does help me stay on track, as I graze less when I have things to do during the day. A few tips for success as things get busy with school starting back- Download the app, and put your food in before you eat it.…

Okay, I'm definitely a member at the WRONG gym. I have to bring all my own crap.... but back to the point, I was hesitant at first, but then I realized that it sometimes allows me to go to the gym directly before class or work when I would have put the whole thing off if I'd had to come back home before heading out for the…

That actually sounds like an awesome idea- anyone know how well the consistency fares if you use ice and fruit and then freeze/or refrigerate?

Okay, maybe this is a dumb question, but how immediately after a workout do you drink the shake? I usually like to shower and head home (5 minutes away, tops) and then bust out the blender. Should I get it in sooner, you think?

I enjoy my SPIbelt, It's like the other things these folks are talking about only it's made out of a super stretchy material so it can be quite small or stretch to hold a phone, several energy gels and keys etc. I bought it at my local running store, but you can get it at Spibelt.com HTH. Good Luck!

Congrats! You are awesome!! I finished by second 1/2 on October 30th and a "century" bike tour on September 17th. Still looking for my next adventure...

This^. It's definitely because of the pictures. But I was never able to lose weight based on a wedding alone. I had to do it because I was finally generally motivated, but I know the feeling of the pressure. Plus if they are close, you probably want some pictures of the day, and you don't want to have a bad feeling every…

You should search Tam Tastic- she was on here and pregnant a while back and she did an awesome job of managing her weight safely when pregnant. She's amazing!! Good luck and congratulations!!

I think they work best ground up- I put mine in a blender and used "grate" I think. After they are ground up, I put them in oatmeal, yogurt, cereal, on PB and Banana sandwhiches....etc. You can put them on anything, but I've heard they are best ground or they might upset your digestive tract, AND that they aren't digested…

hmmm... I used to get frustrated with my husband, but he has realized that he can't say anything about food or weight to me. Nothing. I've learned he's right. Everyone's happier when he just shuts up about food and weight. Maybe that needs to be a new rule???

All of this, AND- tell him you have a crappy memory but it DOESN't mean that you don't love him or that he's not important. As a therapist, I can say that this is less about who remembers what, but it IS about how he interprets your forgetting/not listening, the meaning he makes out of it and how it makes him feel. Don't…

My best advice is to think about these three things: !. Change WHAT you eat, not how much. I don't eat cereal for breakfast because portion control is tough for me in the morning. I eat oat meal instead. I eat much too much food, but the foods I eat don't add up to many calories. I purposefully became a pescatarian because…

I can relate. I didn't exactly get in shape for weddings, but I've been in a few recently. If you want to add me as a friend for support, feel free. Good luck! P.S. I'm an avid believer in the Cheat Day.

Yes that is quite fast- you should register for a local 5k- you might win a medal!

I can't promise anything about the sodium, but here are a few of my favs: Spaghetti Squash with homemade sauce: 1 spaghetti squash, halved and nuked in the Microwave for 8-10 minutes. (scrape out the "noodles"). 1 can diced no salt added tomatoes 1-2 clove garlic chopped 30-50 g white onion Saute onion and garlic in…

I reccently cooked my rice in left over beer. It had a different flavor to it, probably would have really loved it if I really loved beer. Just a thought.

I have a feelin' I've been the MFP equivalent of "Rick Rolled." There you go- play Rick Astley's "Never gonna give you up."

I think being straightforward has always worked for me. How about a "I think you are pretty nifty- how about a coffee/drink/some lunch/dinner/movie/golf/ice cream some time? My treat."

You could go with the 5 ingredient rule or the "nothing I can't pronounce rule". So I buy the following "packaged" foods- cans of veggies, oatmeal, peanut butter, yogurt. But the ingredients are all things I know- such as "green beans, water" or "oats" or "peanuts, salt, molasses" or "Milk, [and some names of bacteria that…

ahh..yes. Sometimes we suffer a surprise or two. Soon enough you'll know counts on most things you eat frequently. No harm no foul.

Often times I have to make a special trip for this stuff and I only order a small ammount- like one scoop of ice cream or one slice of pizza. I avoid places where there are free unlimited fries or bread etc. Or I get what I want and give the rest away- a candy bar, eat 1/4 or 1/2 and give the rest to someone else (or worse…

Depends on the craving- often when I think of how a food is made I no longer want it (especially if it is unhealthy). If I'm desperate I imagine something gross has happened to the food I am tempted to eat but don't really want, and if it's something I do actually want and have wanted for a while, I indulge in a small…

I'm in my last year of classes in a PsyD program- beginning to apply for my year long (move away from home) internship.

I agree with Chilliaddict. We have an iPad1 and find it extremely useful. But we are apple people.

I would eat something back. Exercise often makes me less hungry, depending on what it is, but I know I need the fuel. Some good ideas are chocolate milk, nuts or nut butters, and things like guacamole which are healthy but high calories. Maybe even a protein shake or smoothie. Something that is good healthyfood, won't feel…

Yes. Eat something (not a full meal) before you go. And then picture that the host or one of the kids sneezed all over the junk food- may help you stay off of it. Or you could indulge in moderation- I usually do this, but often I don't enjoy birthday cake (esp grocery store cake) so it's just not worth it. Hope that helps.

I have treats with few calories- for me that might mean a cup of coffe with creamer (I rarely want to eat anything with coffee or shortly after) A diet soda. ( I generally don't have soda) a special flavored tea, or something along those lines. I'm in grad school and I know the feeling of having a big hurdle to jump and…
