I've been thinking of the same, some I've seen or heard of I've liked are: L'Chaim (Hebrew for "To Life!", like a toast) A picture of a phoenix- not a word, but a powerful symbol of rebirth and fighting to become something new and stronger, and the difficulty of passing through fire to do it. What words are meaningful to…

Well, Emily, with that attitude, I have every faith you will meet your goals! Way to be determined and open to suggestion. Good luck!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Gatorgirl. You have said what I was trying hard to tackfully say. I am that person- I've lost 50 lbs, and it took forever, and now some people think I'm pretty slim, and I would hate for someone to see me and assume I have a fast metabolism or that I never work out or that I've never been…

Exercise helps shed weight. Period. Sprints or intervals may burn more calories, but running for distance will as well. It is best to mix it up with some hills (likely to be hills in your races) and some speedwork (it does make you stronger and improve your general running form) but you need long, slow distance runs as…

I totally second the therapist suggestion. And between now and then, get rid of the junk you have access to. When you want to binge, binge on carrots. You will be sick before you do too much dammage. Before you go out to buy food when you are not hungry, call a friend or another supportive person, or send a message to a…

Ahhh- this probably explains it. I was thinking this, but I couldn't remember for sure. This 2 minutes combined with some heat and pace change could totally account for a .4 mile distance difference.

So far I've done GU. I've had a heck of time opening them, (generally go the ferral dog route and chew into them with my teeth) and I can eat them on the run, but fiddling with the amount of water I must drink directly after sometimes presents a challenge. My husband has eaten the gummy style energy replacements. He said…

Are you keeping track of your pace? Were your walking bouts slower perhaps? I don't remember the exact timing of the weeks in the program right now, but I know there are people out there who can walk faster than they can run, and as you extend the period of time you run steadily, your running pace may slow, and as you tire…

Hi there. Don't feel guilty or compare yourself. Your body is different from others and MFP will guide you on the best plan for you. As you lose weight, MFP will adjust your calorie goal (because as you get smaller you will need fewer calories). For now, enjoy the small changes and keep making small steps toward your goal.

I would think you could eat the same things only he could eat more- both a higher quantity and more often- so sneaking in snacks when you would pass on them. It's the same thing I do from day to day based on my exercise. My meals rarely change, but if I've biked 40 miles or ran 10 I just eat more snacks (and different…

Clearly, it's the hook that brings you back...

oh for sure! I debated making this my present day one- this guy actually looks something like my husband these days (only the husband has a nicer face/teeth).

ohh...excellent question- can we go historical? If so, I'm still partial to 1996-1998 Gavin Rossdale. If not....lead of Nonpoint- I think it's the dreadlocks.

I've had two- one princeton tec something or another for like 19 bucks, and the other a petzel tika. The princeton tec worked but the battery life sucked. the other was about 25 and it has worked splendidly with no complaints. HTH.

Gains like this are necessarily uncommon. Since you are using a program designed by your trainer, I would ask them about eating the exercise calories back. I do and always have. MFP (and it sound like your trainer's plan as well) sets you up at a deficit to begin with, when you exercise, you add to that deficit. In theory…

I do this too! We've got Rocky- he's called : Rock, P-Rock-She-Bang-Bang, Keepers, Ro-Keep, and Keep and Duke- Dukakis, Bubba, Bubbs, Gingerbear, Big Man (He weighs 100 lbs), and puppa-chup

Make sure you hang on to him!

I can get this to some degree- some of us have a hard time adjusting to who we are now. I've just now stopped being surprised when I pass a reflective surface. Acknowledging who I am now, (a healthy, active person) and the way I look now has taken some work, and maybe your coworker feels the same. Maybe looking at their…

spaghetti squash (just in the dark about it before MFP), cottage cheese, yogurt, celery (I don't want to marry it, but I will eat it now), laughing cow cheese wedges

Mels- you have confused me. If the packet is 117 calories, and you add nothing but water, it should still be 117 calories when done (it will just weigh more.) Are you adding something to this rice to fiddle with the calories?
-
If you measure dry rice and then cook it- the calories (from the dry measure) don't change. But since 100g dry does not equal 100g cooked (because of the absorbed water- the calories in 100g dry is different than 100g cooked. Does that help? Water adds weight, not calories, but if you figure calories from weight, the added…

Well- you could use the app and try to keep track. Or you could go and just try to rely on what you have learned...either way, here are a few thoughts to keep in mind. 3500 calories equal one pound. Currently you are at a deficit from maintenance, so you would have to eat alot more each and every day to undo your current…
-
No- because 100g of cooked rice isn't all rice- it's part water.
-
The calories in the portion stays the same- BUT the portion size does not. Just like popcorn, Rice grows as it cooks so if you measure before and after cooking you have 2 different numbers.

I've done the Kentucky Derby Festival Half and I'm signed up for the Homerun 1/2 that ends at the ballfield here in Louisville.

Thanks for sharing, but remember calories play a role in weight loss too.
-
Yes, you are right, maybe 1,200 is the "absolute 0" of the calorie world. (I don't believe this). But my point is, the guy with all the lean muscle mass would likely have a HIGHER minimum than the other person. Maybe 1200 is the minimum for even tiny people.... but yeah, it's an arbitrary number probably.

You look fabulous. No need to be nervous. you are going a super job!
