  • 0 cups of coffee per day. What is your favorite month?
  • Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I haven't signed up for the half just yet. I'm having a hard time finding one at the right time, for the right price that I can travel to reasonably. And I'm definitely racing just to finish. I'm not really a speed demon or anything. Of course, with practice I would like to speed up a…
  • You are both doing fan-tab-u-lous! Great job!

  • a cup of tea helps me out. So does a warm shower. I also agree with the gaiter/scarf/bandana around the face thing. I have one but it isn't awesome because it steams up my glasses- but I use it anyways. HTH
  • Awesome Opossum!! Congrats! Brag away.
  • I have about 9 days worth of running music now- but some of my favs are: Kings of Leon (Molly's Chambers is an oldie buy goodie) Alexi Murdoch- All of my Days (good warm up song) Any early Smashing Pumpkins Really bad electronica such as "Confusion" from the Blade soundtrack or "Born Slippy" from trainspotting and Dirty…
  • Hi Karleen. It can be both frustrating and confusing. And having other ppl tell you about your body can be at the top of the list! My (unsolicited) advice is to find some exercise you enjoy, work on your calories, eat healthy, nutritious foods, and get down to the size you want to be- and if it is in a healthy BMI and your…
  • Yeah, excellent job on seeking out the accountability- just a thought- whenever I'm struggling not to eat something right in front of me, I usually try to think about the negatives- usually with foods like this it's that greasy film that is left in my mouth after I eat it. Or the headache I get from eating too many- or the…
  • Hi! I am also in KY and wanted to say that you will love this site. Welcome.
  • I've been with my best friend a time or two- it is pretty fun!
  • I have one that I got on Amazon.com for about $10. It is digital and can be switched from oz to grams, weighs a great range and comes with a plastic, easily washable pan. I'm really pleased with it and it's so easy to use that I measure just about everything I eat in grams now.
  • Yeah- I'm not sure either, but it was really helpful when I was a running newbie. Thanks for posting it now!
  • I guess it all depends on what else you eat- but PB is a staple in my diet. I'm a vegetarian and PB offers a good source of protein and healthy fats. I think there is a place for it, you may just have to watch portion control and what else you eat that day.
  • runner's world has some lists from olympians and famous runners at runnersworld.com under "more" and then music playlists. The Nike + website also has a collection that you can access without being a member. HtH
  • Different studies say different things- some support coffee as good for the brain, others say it's bad in other ways. It's really just hard to say. It seems like if you enjoy your coffee and you are healthy (according to your Dr. of course), your coffee intake must be okay for you.
  • Yeah, now that I've been married for a while, I can tell you that the grass isn't much greener on this side. Being married is super but Valentines day is just another day- we may make a little extra time for each other, but it also comes with undue pressure and crowded restaurants and movies etc. I think we should demote…
  • I know!! It's nuts! Everyone is responsible for themselves and their choices, but that being said, America's Big Food industry is really working hard out there!
  • great job!
  • Well- here's hoping that your dream honeymoon in Fiji follows tonight!!
  • Well- I've been wondering the same thing lately. I am on a pill- but I've been having break through bleeding (extra periods in the middle of my cycle.) So it's kinda the exact opposite of you, but I've been curious if my diet and exercise change is to blame. Ladies?
  • My scale measures mine- I don't think this is highly accurate, but it says I'm between 18 and 22 or so- but when I started it measured consistently at 40 or so (eesh!). And from what I have read 18 is in althletic range, but I think I still have some fat in areas I would like to move to others. I have certainly lost fat in…
  • Yeah thanks for sharing! That's awesome.
  • Well- according to non-academic magazines (meaning not completely scientific!) one can actually lose more weight if they eat more good sources of protein and less of other types of calories- this is probably especially true if you are building muscle- those muscles need the protein. Good Luck!
  • Casper you are too funny!! My suggestion is follow all these great people's advice and then find something that is okay for you to binge on. I eat unbuttered air popped popcorn and I can eat a giant bowl of it, but it's really filling for few calories. Raw veggies are the same way. I don't binge on snow days, unfortunately…
  • Wear it! I think it's perfectly retro-stylish! I think you really have a thing going here. Plus if you feel good in it you'll look like a million bucks!
  • This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I soak mine in some low sodium soy sauce and then cut it into cubes and bake it for a while at 400 to 425F. I've grown to like tofu itself over the years, but my first go around with it was less than successful. I also sometimes cover it in a Mrs. Dash like seasoning and bake it.…
  • All good points. I love to run and I love music. I combine the two for that reason. I hate to do dishes and I love music. I combine the two for that reason. It just makes sense to me. I run to keep my head on straight, and music helps that as well. I'm signed up for three races and I haven't seen any rules about…
  • That was hee-lairous Wolfie!! I had a similar experience in non-sporting goods stores looking for women's gear. Target has excellent men's gear, Walmart has decent moisture wicking starter stuff for men, but it's like they don't think Women run. I could have spit many baked goods at once. I just broke down and paid over 2x…
  • oooh... I like that quote aes. Good luck with your half- I'm sure you'll kick it's butt. Just get hooked up with a good training plan.
  • I think I've heard after (some of the juices/fats will hopefully cook out of the meat) but I'm a vegetarian, don't take my word for it!
