Well let me put it to you this way- I often see rice cookers at the chinese restaurants I visit. The rice has long since cooked but it's still sitting there in the cooker. Likely for up to the 8 hours the restaurant is open. I'd say you are safe.

I'm going to have to go with bloat or a perspective thing here. It's not likely that in one week you have built enough muscle to make this kind of difference. It is likely that you are bloated, that you are retaining water, and or that you are having a day where everything looks worse to you than it really is. I've lost 50…

oatmeal with cinnamon, 1/4 tsp vanilla, and 1/2 tsp brown sugar and- separately, 1/4 cup of 1% cottage cheese.

I think that is a myth. I'm biased obviously, but I think that exercise is good for your body if you do it wisely. Buy the right shoes. Start slow, don't over do it (ever), train for things carefully and listen to your body. But I think this running is bad for your knees business is bunkum. Hal Higdon has been running on…

I bet that was a heck of a time. Arcade Fire can certainly be counted on for a show- they have so much energy!

Would it be inappropriate to say that I would if I weren't a married vegetarian?? (Please don't offer a veggie burger, it will only complicate things!)
-
Arcade Fire's We Used to Wait usually pushes me through. Especially the line "Like a patient on the table I wanna walk again, gonna move through the pain." But like you said, different days different songs.

Hi Kaci- I think 10 pounds a month would be hard, but possible. If done carefully it could even be done while maintaining health. HOWEVER- I think that shooting for that goal would require lifestyle changes that I personally could never have maintained. I think the hardest thing about losing weight (after deciding to do it…

I've lost 50 lbs trying to stay within the limits MFP sets for me- but most days I really wind up over on carbs/sugar/fiber/protein and under on fat. I think to lose weight that calories are the most important factors but others do matter. BTW- not all fat is evil- some of it is healthy and necessary.

I don't know what I would do- but I can guess that the least amount of drama, heartache, and stress will result in the option of you paying for the things necessary to make this little girl apart of your wedding. If you can swing it- it sounds like a situation where you want to be effective- not right. *edited for spelling…

I wear running shorts from Old Navy. They are short as all get out but they have a liner (kind of like bloomers in cheerleading uniforms) so even if they are "too short" no one's seeing anything interesting.

yes. thrift stores and other people. I was lucky enough to be getting smaller while my sister in law was getting rid of smaller clothes (and then she got pregnant, so I pretty much stole all her clothes). Look for or organize a clothing swap. Everyone has stuff they don't want anymore for one reason or another.

At Denny's I get 2 servings of egg whites, 1 hashbrown and a serving of whole wheat pancakes and come out under 700 calories. You could sub the hashbrown for almost anything else (non-meat) and be doing even better. I used to get the veggie burger with medium sauce and a side salad At buffalo wild wings for right at 500…

I should be able to- but you have to watch the little icon with the heart- I have a hard time keeping mine adjusted correctly so I often have a little X where the heart symbol should be. That means it's not reading my heart rate- maybe that's what happened to you??
-
My second point exactly.

I've never used almond, but I've used soy milk just like cow's milk with no problems, and I've seen Mark Bittman (cookbook author) suggest subing almond milk for cow's milk- I'm thinking it should work- just keep a close eye on it?

I think they do not. I don't think it's that they don't notice, but I think some men struggle with details so while your DH probably notices you looking healthier and more radiant he may not be able to put his finger on why- and some other guys are afraid to comment because it could be taken as an insult to your former…

I second what cutterim said, but for today, if you are in a bind, I would just go by what you usually run on the treadmill speedwise (or maybe slightly slower).** It shouldn't make too much of a difference. ** meaning if you ran 2.5 miles and you usually set the treddy to 6 miles per hour (10 minute miles) put 25 minutes…

I suggest googling Couch 2 5k. It's how I started running and I just finished my first 1/2 marathon. The workouts are bouts of walking/running that start out with maybe 30 seconds of running at a time. They build slowly and having a plan helps- also, they are shorter workouts so you only spend about 30 minutes or so doing…

Very beautiful discomfort. I Love Natalie Portman, and while his movies are tough to watch, Daren Arnofsky is a good filmmaker.

Yeah, I'm on here alot, but I like it so I try not to think of it as addicted. Congrats on your 1/2. I just did my first on 4/30.

Yes- this is all excellent advice. I'm making a vegetarian, no pasta lasagna and I plan on eating part of it tonight, so I will be sure to cover it before putting it in the containers and letting it cool completely before I freeze it. Thanks for the tips!

I usually take a pack of gum- but I'm a gum junky. Or I get some gobstoppers and make sure someone else holds them and I only get one every once in a while.

I want to say whether you start out walking or jump right into couch to 5k- get busy. You can do this- though I do not know you, I am certain you have done harder things. Your knees will probably hurt and you should chat about your planning to run with your Dr next time you see him/her, but I have faith you can run 3 miles…

I love my Mark Bittman How to Cook Everything books and phone apps (the apps are like 4.00) most of the time he provides substitutions for the stranger ingredients. I also like his book Food Matters- it has several recipes with real regular food in them. Other than that I don't really use cook books- just the internet and…

I think when she said "diet food" she meant like 100 calorie packs or diet soda or healthy choice etc. Things marketed as "diet food" not you know real live food that is good for you. Otherwise, yeah, most thin people I know eat reasonable foods like fruits, veggies etc. ** and to the OP I wanted to add there is neuropsych…

Donna, I have minimal training in this area- (I'm almost finished with a doctorate in psychology). I have never heard of it being dangerous to exercise on adderall, but you pose excellent questions and I suggest you direct them to your prescribing doctor. Also- maybe start looking for a job that fits your natural skills,…

This will work if you follow the program. Technically, MFP is set up to help you lose weight without exercise. So if you stay at your calorie goal, most likely you should lose weight even if you don't do any exercise. The exercise will help, and will help you be toned at your final weight- you just need to decide what to…

If you are running, my advice is to go to a running store to find out what kind of shoes you need for the way that your foot moves when you run (stability, motion control, neutral, etc.- depending on if you pronate or overpronate or neither). Then when they tell you either tell them your budget and buy what you can afford…
