I haven't been able to find persimmons for a couple weeks now. But when I could I loved this recipe: SERVES 2...about 2 10 ounce glasses 1 persimmon 1/2 an avocado 1 banana 2 scoops of SHOW ME THE WHEY protein powder 1 cup milk 1/2 cup fat free yogurt Sooooo good!

I have wondered about that too! I sort of came to the conclusion that when I work out my metabolism is higher because I've kicked it into fat burning mode. So on days that I exercise, I feel more energetic because I have already kick started my metabolism into converting fat into energy and I can sorta ride that train and…

I sort of have the same question and I'm trying to figure it out myself. This was my experience recently: I was on 1200 calories and not counting my exercise calories (my trainer told me not to for a while). My weight loss slowly started to plateau. I ate kind of out of sloppy for a week....there was one day that I didn't…

Yum! I have a bunch of sandwich thins that I use for my turkey burgers. Now I have another use for them! I've been thinking of a way to make a low calorie pizza...some people suggest tortillas, but I like this idea better.

I don't really believe in will power when it comes to dieting. Will power suggests that you are using pure will to do something that is extremely difficult. If you are having to resort to will power...maybe you are doing something wrong? Try adding more protein and fiber to your diet for starters. Try getting about 30…

This. Your body is so used to doing it that its not gonna burn as many calories as if you had walked at 3 mph for the same amount of time.

I love making turkey burgers! I usually don't splurge on cheese though...I prefer to splurge on some avocado. :-)

^ This one....24/7 nightmare.

Haha...nice NSV. I love the dip that thin people have in the center of their lower back....I want one!

It would be a tie between Crass and The Fitness. Right now I'm loving Crass- Poison in a Pretty pill....I do intervals on the elliptical and whenever it comes on during a sprint I am ready to go. Kind of ironic since its all about feminine beauty as some sort of perverse enslavement to patriarchy.....but the whole song is…

Who hasn't dated a jerk at one time in their life? I definitely did and I had a hard time leaving him....and the whole break-up dragged out. Now I'm married to a WONDERFUL man who is a hard worker, and he's sweet, and patient, and generous. I never would have found him if I had continued wasting my time with the other guy.…

Yeah, my husband doesn't notice either. He said, "I don't notice that you lost weight, but you are acting like a person who is losing weight, and I like it. That's all that I can really perceive." So..... at least he's honest.

To me this situation seems unreal. The way this situation is described you it sounds like are Cinderella with an evil mom and sister who don't want to see you succeed. Are you SURE your sister wasn't being sarcastic/ironic (because you are working so hard and it was obvious to everyone that you DESERVED and needed to eat…

Wow, these are some GREAT suggestions! I adore trader joe's. My most awesome discovery has been the frozen mango chunks. They are 90 calories for 14 cubes!!! And they taste JUST like sorbet. Somehow the texture is creamy...no matter how long they have been in the freezer. I eat them frozen. Sooooo good!

I feel like the biggest idiot of all, having read this whole thread.

If you want more friends, add some people! I usually add people that I see on the forums that have interesting/funny/insightful things to say.... then I look at their food diary/profile. I am trying to build a list of friends that are trying to work on healthy attitudes towards food and exercise. If I see someone lost a…

I'm JUST playing devil's advocate here to look at both sides (don't kill me). But I can understand why some people would be (slightly) annoyed. Its the same thing as if someone posted a camera photo of their tuna sandwich everyday. Or if you take a picture of your cereal each morning. It's redundant? I can TOTALLY…

I would love to join your foodies unite group to get more ideas for healthy meals. My husband and I do "gourmet friday" every friday (duh)...we light candles and put on music and I add a little something special to the meals, nice china, etc. I find a lot of recipes on the Eating Well website but would love to share ideas.…

I sort of agree with you and I'm not an expert on the subject at all. But I don't completely agree with the "eat whatever you want as long as it is in your calorie limit" idea--at least not at the beginning. Its so hard to meet all your nutritional needs at 1200-1800 calories, and even exercising shouldn't be an excuse to…

Did you buy the apartment? If this isn't something you are trying to make super permanent...I'd say go the ikea route.

I want to join! It will give me an excuse to get super excited about valentines day....plan a date with my hubby and buy a new outfit. :-P

Forgetting Sarah Marshal is sooooo cute. Not EXACTLY a chick flick, but the same kind of satisfaction, I think. Also, I second the 50 First Dates suggestions...that one is amazing.

I bought the Schwinn 431 Elliptical Trainer on Amazon.com for $649.00 back in August, and I just looked and the price is now $574.99 (free shipping).....darn! But I LOVE my elliptical. I work out on it every day and it is so nice to be able to hop on it whenever you have a spare 1/2 hour, rather than having to go to the…

So what about carbs and sugar that come from fruit and veggies? Since I've been tracking my calories, I've noticed that fruit has A LOT of sugar in it. Does that spike your blood sugar in the same way as grain-based carbs?

I DO NOT trust what MFP says the calories burned are. I'm seeing a personal trainer and she says that 10-11 calories per minute is very intense. So I depending on my workout, I usually count it as about 10 calories a minute. But its not all about the calories you burned either, because it speeds up your metabolism for the…

I like to roast my own red pepper over my gas stove and then blend it before the garbanzo beans so its very smooth. Just hold the red pepper with metal tongs over the flame or just set it right on top of the burner and let it burn for a while...do this until the skin gets black and charred. Then pop the pepper into a…
