Nice riding!!! I am not getting much riding these days and this weekend the weather is supposed to be crappy. Sigh..... My last ride was this 20km ride though: Untitled by Creations by Uli, on Flickr

Hoping to do a 20km on Saturday. I can't ride during the week now. It gets dark after work too fast and I'm usually driving the kids around. Really looking forward to the ride i'm planning. It's just around a little Island. Have to take a little ferry boat across the river to get there. Very, very little traffic. It is…

I can only ride on weekends now, if I can squeeze it in. This weekend my daughter turns 14 so we'll be busy.

Explored a beautiful trail today while my daughter was off at dance!! A most beautiful day today.

15.5 km bike ride today. :-)). It was a great day!!!

@shangates92 yes, my friend took the picture. :-) This weekend, I'm determined to go do another particular ride but I think I'll be going out on my own.

they are cycling gloves and yes, that is one of the things they are supposed to help with. I prefer going out on the bike with them on. They are padded in the palms and absorb some shock, too.

Went on a 19km ride (12 mile) yesterday. Was a great day for riding and one of my longer distances yet. Slowly building up: Fort Langley Ride by Creations by Uli, on Flickr

So I haven't ridden in almost 2 weeks. :-( Days are getting shorter and last weekend was a total wipe out.... we had major rain and a totally wicked wind storm that knocked out power for almost 3 days. Lots of tree debris all over the roads, too. It just wasn't a great situation. Very unusual late August weather for us,…

My September is always a tad crazy and after work/evening rides won't happen as it gets darker and I chauffeur kids so I'm relying on hopefully decent weekend weather to explore on the bike. My total goal is small.... 100 km.
-
I've set a goal of 60km walking in September. (this is for "recorded walks" ie. not my daily total as measured by my Fitbit but the distance I walk when I actually mindfully go for a walk rather than just random stepping). I'm excited for September.

September 1, 3:11pm, I'm at 9,450 steps. I think 10,000 will happen for today. :-)

This is not so much what I saw but the whole story around it..... A couple of years ago, I took my boy (about 7 then) on a little ride - just in our neighbourhood. We went on this path that runs parallel to a major road and fields on the other side. Well, the path was filled with grasshoppers. We were about halfway down…

I was down 8.7 (my goal was 5) and it represented a 3% of total bodyweight. I'm happy. Going for 5 lbs again in September. It will be harder because I will start having less time to work out.

@CompM you are, obviously, training at a much higher level than I am but I think it's great that you are making a plan on how to fit in winter training. This past summer has been most awesome for me and I've done well and I've stayed motivated but starting September 8, it will all be so much more of a challenge. I've…

Walking, Bootcamp, Zumba, and cycling!! Not necessarily in that order but I probably walk the most and do Bootcamp 3-4 days a week. Cycling is limited a bit more as the days are starting to get shorter.

Weekend challenge............ It's my parents' 50th wedding anniversary today. We're stopping by this evening.... Mom will probably have baking and coffee out. I can manage that.... but Sunday is a big Sunday brunch... that will be hard.

No riding for me so far this week. :-( At work every day, busy every evening and the weekend forecast looks really wet. I guess I do have to start prepping to hit that spin bike downstairs at lunch but while it's nice, I want to walk at lunch.
-
I appreciate active friends and I'm active. :-)

Way awesome!!! You've done quite a lot. That's great. You can do it.
-
I'm looking at a couple of days of no rides. But I will work our other ways. Bootcamp and walking.
-
Today's ride included a little tug boat ferry to get us to the Island in the middle of the river. The ride itself is a dead flat and easy 10km but with a husband and cranky teen in tow..... It was a great day for a mellow ride though because it was rather hot out.

This looks like a good place to say HI. I've just returned to bike riding in the last couple of months. I used to ride a lot but would have never considered myself a cyclist. Through all my younger years, I used my bike as a mode of transportation, especially throughout my college and university years. After I got married,…

Other than Bootcamp tonight, I think today is a bit of a rest day. I won't have time to fit in a ride before dark and I'm feeling really tired today. I knew my distance goal for August was small.... at 50km.... but I needed to start small. I reached it with my ride yesterday.

@slainte831 I'm mommyknits on Rav, too.

Congratulations on your decision. I did just the same as you over the last month or so.... researched, agonized, test rode. I ended up with a hybrid... a Specialized Ariel Sport. Have had it for almost 2 weeks now and have really been enjoying it. After many years out of the saddle (and I used to ride a fair amount), it's…

20 pounds by Christmas so that I can reach my goal to reach 30 lbs by my birthday in February. :-)) I'd love to join in!!

I'm much like that. Too often have I not weighed in because of a big restaurant meal the day before or a bad weekend and it snowballed into weeks/months not stepping on the scale and it's led to weight gain every single time. So, now I just face the music daily, recognizing that there will be daily fluctuations. As long as…

@shangates92.... I managed to ignore them...... :-)

Only 4.5 km away from my August goal of 50km. I should get it done before the weekend. Let's see how far I can surpass it and then I'll have to set a new goal for September. Most of my rides, once school and "real life" starts again will probably have to be on weekends. Sigh.
