  • Feel free to add me as well! Looking for some support for logging daily and hoping to cheer on others!
  • Hi there! I'm not new either but looking for some extra support. Feel free to add me!
  • Feel free to add me too! I'm starting up again and looking for support!
  • Hello! I'm Ashley and I'm 23. I've been on here consistently for about 6 months and am always looking for committed and supportive friends! Feel free to add me if you plan to be on every day to log and support each other :).
  • 78 is actually the standard temperature for competition pools. It feels cold at first but eventually you get used to it and by the time you work up a sweat the water cools you down. I find it very uncomfortable to do a workout like I was used to in college in a pool over 80 degrees because I overheat way too quickly.
  • January 2nd Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes! Did I exercise for 20+ minutes? Yes, personal training and some extra cardio Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes!
  • You can do it! Feel free to add me for support!
  • Awesome idea! Feel free to add me too!
  • I don't have any actual advice, but there's a really large community of people who participate in these via social networking. I'd suggest joining the outdoor swimming society facebook page and asking on there, they usually have great advice.
  • It really depends. I've been on a few different teams. Competitive YMCA age group team seasons generally go from early Fall through about April then they have a summer season. High school teams vary. Some have the sport in the fall, others winter. My high school team season started the first monday after Thanksgiving and…
  • Way to go! You look so happy and strong!
  • Thanks for all the advice!
  • The idea for me (backed up by the promotors of the diet, some scientific literature, and my and my mother's experience with cutting out sugar) is that cutting out the carbs and sugar will get rid of my cravings for them. As I understand it, our brains are wired so that we eat as much calorie-laden food as we can find, a…
  • It really depends on your fitness level. It could be leisurely for some people, but there are many people that couldn't even do that much in an hour if they were going at 100%. I'd see how tired you were, did it feel vigorous? Did you feel totally spent afterwards, or could you keep going? I've been logging all of my "main…
  • Gave into the crap food craving since I haven't in about a month and quickly realized that I don't want it anymore! It was GROSS. I'd so much rather have a salad and nuts and grilled chicken than some fast food junk. This change is so much better than any scale loss.
  • First of all, don't worry! If you're in shape enough to be confident for the other parts of the tri, you'll be in shape enough to do the swimming part. I'd suggest starting with some videos on how to swim freestyle. They'll teach you some drills that you can use to build up your stroke. Good ones to try (look up videos for…
  • Make sure to use good shampoo and conditioner after you swim. Every single time. The difference between members of my team who use the good stuff, and those that use the dispenser on the wall in the shower is just insane. One guy's hair would only stick straight up and lost all its color, and all the women's hair was…
  • There's on major question that needs to be answered before you try to swim faster, are you trying to swim fast for a short distance or to increase your endurance so that you can go harder for longer. In the off-season (I'm a DIII varsity swimmer) I work mostly on trying to go harder for longer because it means that I can…
  • This is right before my 4 month trip to Australia, so I'm really really really hoping to be able to wear a bikini at this point. Weight wise, I'd like to be around 160 which is about 35 pounds less than I am now. I'd love to join the Holiday group!
  • Nice! I am a competitive swimmer and I don't think I could do that out of season!
  • Glad to hear positive reviews about this. Does it taste anything like real peanut butter? I could eat spoonfuls of the real stuff out of the jar, but I'm looking for a healthier alternative. Has anyone else tried it?

  • SO hungry today but I'm headed home from work soon to make some high fiber and high protein snacks and a healthy dinner and to drink a whole water bottle instead of the other plan which I considered, which was to stop for a lot of food on the way home.
  • Actually starvation more is not a lie. Please consult a more reputable source than the one you posted. It's not so much that your body doesn't start consuming muscle until there's not fat left, which is somewhat true, it's the idea that your body thinks it's starving. The whole point of fat isn't to make us look fat, it's…
  • It's really interesting to see what 200 calories a day difference looks like in the long term. 200 calories a day from now until the new year for me is a difference of 10 pounds! What a great thing to keep in mind as I reach for an extra snack I don't need.
  • Count me in! 30 pounds by then would be a great start. I'm also hoping to loose 45 or so by the first of the year. Anyone else trying to do the same feel free to add me for some support!
  • The biggest tip I can give you is to work on technique. Once you can swim efficiently then you can start working on endurance and it will come SO much easier to you. You won't be fighting yourself in the water the whole time. Start small and you'll get there in no time!
  • I'm new (again) but I have some experience with weight loss and motivating others. Feel free to add me!
  • I'd love to trade healthy options in Chicago! Add me if you'd like.
