It's tough, especially when the kids are small. Try to incorporate them into your workout time. Jog with kids in a jogging stroller, ride bikes as a family, have them do an exercise video with you, play basketball or catch. Find a gym with a kids' area/daycare. It's tough. Try manipulating your macros to see if it helps you stay fuller (I find higher protein/fat helps me be full), or up your calorie goal per day.

@StephanieLynneK we are near each other. I am just getting started with hiking in the foothills of the Adirondacks. We did Elephant Head (just out of Malone) last week. I think we're going to do Owl's Head this weekend.

I went hiking for the first time today. It was a small hike (one of the foothills of the Adirondacks), but I finished it. I was huffing and puffing while we did it, but I'm not even that sore tonight. I'd have never done this almost 50lbs ago.

I'm keto. I started at 281 and am currently down about 47lbs. I generally try to keep it as simple as possible. Meat/protein of some sort, veggies, and some fat (often from the meat) at every meal. I don't think it's some magic cure, but it allows me to stay below my calorie goals without starving all day.

That initial weight loss is mostly a loss of water weight as glycogen (stored sugar) is stored with water. That first week I lost almost 10lbs. After that, it's been 2ish per week (sometimes 3). I also have a LOT to lose.

My general rule with keto is to keep it simple. Most meals are meat, veggie(s) and some sort of fat (often in the meat). Is there a reason you want to stay keto rather than count calories?
