Mr. McDonald has been brought up here a good bit lately, wish some would actually read him and continue researching from there.... Excellent post again, @ndj1979

This is basically what I do - lately I've been having 2 fun-size bags of peanut M&Ms daily with each bag eaten at 2 different times (after lunch & after dinner usually). I make sure each piece in the bag is eaten slowly & enjoyed. Chocolate twice a day for only like 190 calories and I'm completely satisfied. OP, you…

Yes, high iron is not good. Is it the iron in the blood that's high, or the iron stores, or both? Since you didn't go into detail about it with your doctor you probably should. Along with donating blood check what you're eating and maybe reduce high iron foods. Calcium inhibits iron absorption so pair iron-rich foods with…

This is just fantastic - exactly what I need to do with only 3-4 lbs left to lose.

You are so on the defensive that you aren't even understanding what's being said to you. Of course you lost weight on your diet, many have. But your body does not go against science, you do not lose weight with an excess of calories. That's science. You don't weigh or measure your food, so you just don't know how much…
-
It's an elimination diet, so unless you suspect you have some type of food allergy or certain diseases, it may be unnecessary. Eating a diet primarily of whole foods in general isn't a bad idea but this may be so restrictive it could be difficult, imo. And my thinking is why make losing weight and trying to achieve good…

Hahaha, a Rorschach - someone want to take a stab at this? Lol OP- this is a journey and you'll have to figure out what's best and works for you. I, myself, do believe Alli is a marketing gimmick (by taking Alli you *have* to fear fat or there are repercussions), and it definitely isn't an easy way out - if anything I…

Lol. I hate this graphic, no offense to the poster. So the food is swallowed whole? No chewing? Pffffft.......satiety varies from person to person. ETA: I myself am a volume eater, so I totally understand the point (I think?) trying to be made - but the graphic in itself is simplistic & misleading & is made to fit a…

Good thread- along the lines of meal planning, I'll base the majority of our meals by what's on sale at the stores. This week some of my meals are country style pork ribs w/steamed broccoli & cauliflower and oven roasted potatoes; roasted chicken legs with salad, black-eyed peas & cooked cabbage; London broil roast with…

I agree with this. People can log log log all the live long day, but if you're logging 30 grams when you're actually eating 50, then it's wrong. IMO the only way to actually know how much you're consuming is to properly weigh & measure. There are YouTube videos showing the importance of accurately measuring, and I'm sure…

CICO isn't a "way to do it", CICO is an energy balance equation that every*single*human*body utilize (and animals- vet just told me one of my dogs needs to lose 4 lbs. Guess how I'm to do it? That's right, decrease food which means decrease calories & increase her activity). CICO is science, it is universal, it exists.…

I'm in NC too, I get mine from Publix & Whole Foods I like Halo Top over Arctic Zero but, like above, I eat both depending on what my day has looked like. I love putting some Penzey's Pie Spice and a little sugar free syrup (which kinda "hardens") over the Vanilla - so so good! I'll have to try some other add-ins too.
-
I don't do it often but a French Fan pastry from Publix. They're around 800 cals each and I don't eat just half and will NOT share it. I'll plan for it, bank some caloriess (via food or getting a little extra exercise) and enjoy the whole thing.

I'm hypoglycemic so different situation than just waking up hungry, but if I need something in the middle of the night I usually have a slice of whole wheat bread with almond butter, an apple with almond butter, a protein bar, or some carrots with a cheese stick.
-
I eat leftovers from the night before, sandwiches, toast with eggs & bacon, Greek yogurt with protein powder & granola, high fiber wrap with ground beef and cheese....whatever I'm in the mood for.

"A calorie is not a calorie" AND "clean eating" in the same thread? No, please, just no. I know it's Friday (and Fri the 13th at that) but..... no, lol

Perhaps there's possibly an emotional reason behind food/eating issues? To really be able to lose and keep off the weight the issues should be addressed - there's counseling, therapy, groups that can really help with that. Being healthy is about more than just diet & exercise. And maybe start with manageable baby steps,…

I totally agree with this. I had a Charge HR but because my dog runs with me & I swap her leash in my hands the step count was wildly inaccurate. Then when comparing the hr from the Charge HR to my chest strap Polar H7 the heart rate was off, so I got a Zip. Steps seem accurate with the Zip so I'm sticking with that for…

Lol!! I was just coming in here to say steamed chicken & vegetables OP, sauce on the side for sure - indulge a little if you've adjusted cals for it, or something steamed if you need to be stricter. Sometimes, if the restaurant I'm going to doesn't have nutrition listed I look on other restaurant sites to get an idea of…

Coke Zero for me Can you get sugar free vanilla DaVinci or Torani syrups? I've added those to my Coke Zero when in the mood for the vanilla, works great imo.

I used to work with a woman who had the DS and had terrible side effects from higher fat & refined carb intake, and apparently those were to be life-long issues. Have you checked for advice on WLS forums? *edited to add: she had terrible diarrhea with higher fat and had extreme gas with the refined carbs, but this may just…

Probably homemade is lowest - fresh or canned tomatoes blended, add some garlic/basil/oregano/salt/sugar (or Italian seasoning blend) or whatever else you want or don't want, then simmer.
-
Vegetables lol. I'm serious, I'm a volume eater so I'm adding extra veggies like crazy. That's how I stretch my meals as far as I can for the fewest calories. I have a hyoooooge bowl of zoodles with garlic & cheese every day, add veggie medleys to meat/sauces, shove as much lettuce & tomatoes I can in sandwiches & wraps.

I'm not sure how old you are - I'm 43 and I just can't express enough how I wish I took care of myself sooner. I have 4 kids, work, have a farm that I help take care of, and have a handicapped parent that lives with us that we care for. I also now have health issues that I am beginning to deal with myself and I'm really…

I say "no thanks." What I eat or not eat shouldn't affect someone else or let them down or hurt their feelings. If it does then that's their issue & not mine. My issue is doing what's best for my body. I know some people show "love" through food and get offended (my mother is one of them) but again, I'm not going to eat…

And you've just given a very good example of an adjustment to the CO side of CICO. You haven't refuted anything, you've actually acknowledged it. The formula itself is a simple-to-understand concept, what comprises the CO side is what can be complex. Changes in metabolism, hormonal issues, activity levels, age, illnesses,…

Calcium prohibits the absorption of iron, so a supplement will do better than a multi. And make sure to take the iron at least 2 hours away from any calcium-rich food.
-
And it's only been 5 days. Great loss so far, just give it more time before getting discouraged.
