  • I use jojoba oil instead of lotion. I swim everyday so my skin gets pretty dry - I find oils do better than lotion, and jojoba oil (from Trader Joe's) isn't greasy or sticky (like vitamin E oil can get some times) and does not have additives (like baby oil, etc.) I agree with the previous posters about taking fish oil (or…

  • I also like them micro with just a sprinkling of salt and pepper - that is all I need! If I'm making a more elaborate dish, then I would micro the brussel sprouts until soft, cut in half, and sautee in EVOO and garlic. If you have time, sautee chopped onions until slightly brown with the oil and garlic, then add the…
  • I used to be a once-a-week or less person as well. Then I changed my eating habits, and starting taking multi-vitamin and fish oil. What is MOST important for me is a consistent routine. Wake up, coffee with breakfast, sit and read for 30 minutes, and then I would go. If I travel or alter my schedule, it throws things off.…
  • How old is your son? My children slept in solid blocks (4-6 hours) when they were about 4-6 months old. The sleep time increases when rice cereal is introduced - so hang in there, it won't be too long before you get more sleep. (p.s. I am SO glad to be done with the sleep-less nights - after three kids [and college] I've…
  • I've done that too - except it was pants and the sticker with the pant size was stuck on my rear end all day - no one said anything! :noway:
  • I have always thawed chicken in a plastic bag in a bowl of hot water. It takes about 20 minutes and, yep (pinches self) - still alive and well!
  • Start off slow! And yes, listen to your body. Maybe do half of what you normally do, or reduce the intensity a bit.
  • Fellow asthmatic here! I've been on every asthma med (have a rainbow of inhalers - red, yellow, blue, purple, grey, and orange!) and found that one singulair pill a day does the trick for me. I have not had an ER visit (complete with adrenaline shots) in over 2 years - hoo ya! I use my albuterol MAYBE once every two weeks.…
  • Same here. I just rinse it out in the shower with plain old water after I work out, and hang to dry.
  • I've experienced the same thing. During workout my average HR is about 150-160, but I do hit 180-190 during sprints. I'm still alive  I talked to a trainer, and he said that as you get stronger your heart can withstand more, but if you were just starting off - you wouldn't want to push yourself to the max. Gradual…
  • In college I used to belong to 24 hours and was a member for 2 - 3 years. From my experience: Pros: -Hours (obviously) -Usually a lot of weight equipment -Can sign up for personal trainer sessions (a friend did this, got good results) -Shower/locker room was clean -Childcare available at reasonable cost Cons: -Not enough…
  • Another seafood hater here - I won't touch anything that lives in water, so "fish burps" are unacceptable! However, I have taken a couple of brand name fish oil capsules with no ill effects (but I DO remember years ago when I had to take fish oil pills when living in Norway - that one had BAD fish burps) so I think the new…
  • Did you eat before working out? If my blood sugar drops too quickly (from not eating and then working out) I feel sick. You should have a carb-protein (small) snack before working out. I usually have a slice of bread and peanut butter, and 1/2 banana an hour before.
  • Yes, inquiring minds want to know! Hoping it's nothing serious. :flowerforyou:
  • I have a similar recipe, except I use eggplant peeled and sliced longwise in place of noodles, and don't add any meat. Eggplant is great because it has a hefty substance to it, and balances well with the sauce and cheese. This came out nicely in the crockpot - the cheese on top was nice and browned! p.s. Also I don't use…
  • Yes, Whole Foods. Also, I get a lot of stuff from WinCo - they have a fabulous bulk selection with stuff like spices, pasta, honey, peanut butter, granola, dog food, and all kinds of stuff. Some is organic and some aren't.
  • Bahahahahahahaha!!   I can just see the beady eyes!
  • My middle daughter was born on december 24th - we named her Eve. My mom was born on January 1st, and my grandfather was born on January 2nd. Almost all of our birthdays fall around holidays (not a good thing!) I was born on October 27th (Halloween), my first daughter was born on November 21st (Thanksgiving), my…

  • I buy the following in bulk: whole wheat flour (bread, all purpose, and pastry) brown sugar (I don't use white - I like brown better) rolled oats (for oatmeal, granola, etc.) cereal (cheaper than boxed) dried cranberries (I eat a lot of these, lol) split peas (for making split pea soup in the crock pot - super easy!)…
  • It sounds like either a lymp node or cyst (because it is round and moves) - I doubt it is your ovary. Your ovaries are deeper inside your abdominal cavity, and I don't think a muscle would knot up in such a noticable way. When is your appointment?
  • I do the same thing! I log everything I eat at work (breakfast, snacks and lunch) and then I know how much I have left for dinner/dessert. Since I'm so busy with my three kids and house stuff after work - I rarely log dinner. I think the only downside is seeing the "if everyday were like today.." part, lol. But if you…
  • I was wondering the same thing! They do look bigger in a sports bra compared to the spandex (firming) shirt... Also, is it just me - or do the BL seem to be losing less weight than the previous esposides? For some reason, even tho we are really close to the finale (I think) the contestants still have a ways to go…
  • My husband had gastritis and a preforated ulcer earlier this year - he actually started vomiting blood and passed out, and ended up in the ER. It was scary! His case was due to stress from work, etc. They put him on acid blockers after sealing the uclers. I don't remember him complaining of sharp pain, but he did often…
  • When I have gas like that - the best thing I found was to just walk around for a good 20 minutes or more (helps pass the gas, ya know). The gas pills, beano, etc. stuff - no good. But (thank god) my body is now adjusted to all the veggies, beans and lentils that I eat (whew), and I rarely have this problem now. P.S. If you…
  • It sounds like gas - it can be pretty painful, especially if you upped your fiber or something recently and your body is not used to it. Why don't you call the advice nurse and see what they say?
  • Yep, yep - what she said. I have a huge plastic mug that I keep refilling and reuse a single green tea bag about three times.
  • Dinner is my hardest meal too! We have girls in swim practice and I work FT - so we use the crockpot to make soups, stews and etc. You can even make enchiladas, lasagna, chili, etc. - just about ANYTHING in the crockpot and - tada - dinner is ready when you come home!
  • Welcome! I'm with you - have three kiddos myself and work full time and find that I don't have nearly enough time for everything I want to do! I also love being outdoors (can't stand the gym) and I do take my kids on hikes (right now the weather is not great, but spring-fall we hike almost every weekend.) You might not…
  • How sour is the milk? And can I mix chocolate syrup with it, lol?
  • I love me a grande non-fat latte! I don't add sugar or syrups - weaned off of that stuff a while ago. But the star-bucks was hitting the wallet a bit to hard, so I do homemade now with 1/4 cup of non-fat milk and sprinkling of cinnamon. I grind my own beans (hazelnut from Costco) - so it's fresh and delish (and cheap!)
