  • Zebra running pants.... I pretend the lions are chasing me and I run a little faster, lol.
  • I've fallen off the treadmill.....twice. Not like a stumble off to the side kinda fall, I mean I tripped, hung on to the handle bars while my legs dangled behind me, kicking around like fish outta water, till I gave up, face planted, then got shot of the back of the thing like a watermelon off a giant sling shot, slamming…
  • You've got too much work to do (on that desk behind you)!
  • I was at 1300 kcals for awhile and was always starving, grumpy, and tired. I changed my settings to allow for much many more calories and am now allowed 1750. Now I am always full, and often don't even feel the need to eat back my exercise calories, or at least not all of them, and I lose every week. It was one for the…
  • This is how I think, too. I'm okay with my kids and I having a treat now and again, and I use my own discipline to teach my kids (ages 4 and 7) moderation as well. We are all allowed 1 sugar thing a day, myself included. We really, fully enjoy it, and we can only eat it AFTER we eat healthy foods. I find that this teaches…
  • Hubby and I made up, and he's taking the Dyson in to get repaired or I'll get a new one if that doesn't work out. Y'all are all right - it is funny, and it helped a lot to read all of your responses. Though, Carl01, you are headed for a punch in the mugpiece, and I've been doing some weights!!! And thanks to the person (I…
  • This is the same guy who, at the age of 23, stuck 2 keys in an electrical socket to see what would happen. He hasn't done that since.
  • You have a lot to be proud of!!!! You look phenomenal!
  • I am 5'8" and my current goal weight is 140. I've been 135 before, and friends and family all said that I looked very unhealthy and starved. If I reach 145 and like my look, I may stop there since I want to account for the added weight of muscle mass. When I was 135 I had zero muscle, so 140 with muscle could be too small.…
  • I have this wonderful park with a natural trail near my home. Usually I run loops on the trail on my own, but lately I've experimented with taking my kids. Its a bit of a gamble since sometimes they are not in the mood to go fast or stay for a long time, but my 7 yr old son is becoming quite the runner!!! The first time I…
  • I got a $30 one at Target 3 years that also measures body fat. It hasn't failed me yet!!!
  • Hey Noodle ! I use the Garmin 305, like another poster here, and I love it. It does, in fact, calculate calories based on HR, so I can use it on treadmills, if I can ever get myself to tolerate the boredom of a treadmill! It comes will a CD that installs a VERY easy to use program that will show you pace, calories, avg HR,…

  • You must be a Bobcat!! I live in Austin! It'd be great to have a running partner here and there, but I am a slow runner who is currently working up from 3 miles to 5 miles... I may not be at your speed. Still, feel free to friend me!
  • Good for you!!! I love how you have identified your obstacles and are coming up with solutions and new approaches for each. This is how its done! Also, good for you for getting a trainer. The more resources you have at hand, the more easily you will reach your goal. You know, the basic formula is less calories in, more…
  • Here's what I always put out for kids and adults at my tots' birthday parties - fruit plate with grapes, raspberries, strawberries, and apple slices, cubed cheddar with toothpicks, plus good cheese for the adults, crackers, dip of some sort, finger sandwiches of pb&j, salmon salad (flaked salmon, mayo, capers, salt & pep),…
  • I'm not in your age group, but I love the way you phrased the question. You must be awesome :)
  • Oh, I love me a chocolate rooibos before bed! Yummy!
  • Today I did a half workout because of time, so I did weights for only 30 min and burned 288 cals. I have a high heart rate and seem to burn more than many others, though. I'm 5'8" and weight 155. I REALLY suggest getting an HR monitor. Before I got mine I wasn't eating nearly enough calories because I so underestimated…
  • I think this is such a flaw here. There is literally no reason to ever add anything to the strength section that I can see. I wear a heart rate monitor during my strength training (which tells me how many calories I've burned) and manually enter that into the cardio section. This definitely needs improvement on the site.
  • I know that there is lots of data out there that says that people who work out in the morning are more successful at keeping their routine than those who do the "manuevering" thing. I can do that in the summer, but winter morning runs are just a bit too cold for me! I'm still looking for a solution here.
  • Seems like finding a workout that you really enjoy is important. I couldn't stick to working out until I figured out that I had to actually feel joy while I worked out, and that got me more creative. I run on trails, and nowhere else. Treadmills and ellipticals suck as far as I'm concerned. And running in my neighborhood…
  • I'm with you. I've been stuck at 155 to 158 for at least about 6 months now, if that helps you put things into perspective. I day is a day, and you are working on a lifestyle. I deliberately indulged for Thanksgiving, since Christmas food doesn't get to me and out T-day is a really big deal. I figure it may take me two…
  • Dear Lord!!! How impressive! And can you send some of that mojo my way? :) Great job on staying committed to yourself and making it work. Very nicely done. :)
  • If you are breastfeeding, I was the exact same way. At my son's first birthday I was 15 pounds lighter than before I was pregnant, but people looked at me and thought I was ill. I ate constantly. I was so so skinny and had such a cute, fat, little baby that we had a joke that I could eat whatever I wanted and it would go…
  • I like to keep whole grains around, and cook them up in broth. Add some veggies (roasted is nice) and you've got a great supper. You might check out cookbooks by Mark Bittman. The food tastes great, and he uses reasonable, minimal ingredients. His book, "How to Cook Everything" is a must have. I also like his "Quick and…
  • I make a point to eat 50 grams over what MFP tells me to daily, and its made a big difference in having more consistent energy levels and keeping more muscle on.
  • The Mexican tribe Taramuhara drink chia seeds in a mixture of 1-2 T of chia seeds with 8-10 oz water, plus lime and honey to taste. The texture gets slightly gooey, but I find it pleasant.
  • I think you're right. Its really different for everyone, and persistence and dedication are key. I think that's the secret that no one wants to hear.
