Sure, I'll post!! I'm 5'8" and, fyi, when I modeled as a teen, I never had those measurements - and I was very thin. I think back then (if I remember what was in my portfolio) my measurements were 37-26-38. Keep in mind, I was also an athlete at the time and worked out about two and half hours a day. Now (I'm still in a…

Oh! Read "Food Matters" by Mark Bittman (a chef). Its a quick, informative, and entertaining read. He talks about reducing one's meat intake, but not quite going vegetarian, and all of the benefits of that. Also, he has a month's worth of great recipes for that style of eating. What he does is to eat like a vegan until 6,…

Try Nexagen's jen fe patch with the juice as well. Its all natural. AWESOME metabolism, energy, and mood aid. You have to work out to make it work, but it makes all the work you do count for more. I've been on it for a year, and I've found it very helpful. If mood is your main concern, try GABA, 5-HTP, and about 300mgs of…

If its anything but winter, I love running in the rain. Especially on a wooded trail. I feel so adventurous and free! And, of course, afterwards....curled up with a good book! :)

My body needs at least 3L a day (I'm a woman) and if I don't get that, I usually have some digestion problems, low energy, etc. I would go with what feels good to your body. Water toxicity happens only in extreme cases where people push past their body signals. Go with what feels good!

Yes! This same thing happened to me! It happened when I lost a lot of weight about 5 years ago, and it was all through diet, but not exercise. So, what I finally figured out was that I had lost the muscle tone in my butt. I did a fair amount of strength training and now I run, which happens to work my glutes, and I have a…

Only six months???? Very impressive! Though I imagine this fine-tuning part will take longer, I have no doubt you'll meet your goals! :) Congratulations on looking and being AWESOME!

My trainer said that the heart rate monitor is more accurate, as its calibrated to you, your gender, and your weight. They way that I think about it, the one job of the HR monitor is to figure out how much you are exerting yourself in each minute, each second of your workout. The job of the cardio machine is to help you…

I'm loving the cultural insight! I have to admit, I think adding beer to whole thing is definitely an improvement, and I can certainly see the appeal of having one in your home. Though, here in Texas, you might as well just sit outside for a bit, now that I think about it. ;)
-
oh, by the way walmart.com has great prices on HR monitors. The belt is included with the watch, and you can get one for as little as 50 bucks. Its definitely worth the investment!
-
Not a silly question at all!!!! Good for you for wanting accuracy and more knowledge about your body! Sadly, the machines at the gym are notorious for overestimating calories burned, so who knows. Your best bet is to get a HR monitor that calculates calories burned for you. I have found that the MFP estimates are under…

Oh - for this routine I do, I bring a swimsuit. But perfectly reasonable to hang out in the sauna or steam room with nothing but a towel. i agree about the door etiquette mentioned above.
-
Here's how I use them (did this today,as a matter of fact!) 5 min in dry sauna, 5 min in steam room, 5 minutes in the jacuzzi, and then 5 min floating in the cold swimming pool. Sometimes i increase the time in each, sometimes I do 2 or three circuits of that, but just doing what I described above leaves my body feeling…

I can't say that I've had symptoms in terms of weight gain (I've been on it for 4 years) and, in fact, I have no symptoms whatsoever. A friend of mine, however, had terrible issues with weight gain, mood swings, and out of control cravings. It was hard to believe that we were on the same thing. I think its completely…

Unfortunately the very thing that defines anything made into jerky is the salt. You might find something with less sugar, but salt is what is required to dry and preserve the meat. So.........beefy jerky without salt is just plain old raw seasoned meat. Sorry!!!! For me its donuts - why can't there be a low-fat donut??????…

This sounds almost too easy to be true! Could this really work? I mean, 10 pounds in 2 weeks seems sorta crazy. I don't really know much here, so I'm curious as to others' thoughts. I'm tempted to give it a go.
-
1 lb a week is more realistic for sure, and far more likely to be fat loss and not muscle loss. Also, since you're still losing weight, you're not at a plateau, you're losing weight! :) yay!!!! Patience is your friend, and if you can take the time to make this a shift in lifestyle rather than a sprint to a short term goal,…

Hey butterfly! I'd love to be your friend! I'm losing about 20 pounds for the third time myself, so I know how that it. I'd be happy to shoot straight with you if you will with me!

I practice in the Tibetan tradition and happen to lately be very involved in the Tibetan community. I've had the honor of meeting the Karmapa and having supper with Ngari Rinpoche, the brother of the Dalai Lama, at his home with his wife! I definitely got a unique perspective of the dharma from him. He's hilarious. Feel…

Dr Scholls makes great moleskin patches that stick to your foot and prevent blisters. I'd get lots of different shapes and textures (they have cloth, plastic) and experiment before the big day.

You know, I focus on a certain body fat percentage. 30% body fat is overweight, and around 21% is fit. That's what I'm aiming for. I figure the ratios would even out properly for that, seeing as how you can't lose fat in specific places (dammit). So, for me, my size and weight are healthy, but I'm at 29% bf, so I'm looking…

Just read a blog on here from a trainer suggesting the Garmin 305! Its on sale at Walmart online right now. And yes, the chest strap ones are waaaay better.

My dietitian said Lara bars are the best for you, any flavor. They are a far cry from granola, though. Most made of fruit with only a little nut as far as taste goes. I don't like a lot of nuts, and I don't really like granola, either, but I love these and used to keep a stash in my desk for emergencies. I might go back to…

Doubtful. More likely that your baby is 1) needing more calories before bedtime or 2) on the cusp of a physical or cognitive growth spurt! Its very common for babies to have a tougher time sleeping right before make some sort of developmental leap. Your breast milk (I'm assuming that's the connection with your diet) is not…

I am on the founding board of a nonprofit that is currently engaged in training Tibetan mental health care givers how to offer culturally sensitive therapy to their fellow Tibetans who have fled occupied Tibet, been tortured in prison, have lost family members, or suffered some other trauma. We've got the blessing of the…
