I've been doing bulletproof coffee for two weeks and here's what I can say: 1)Tastes fantastic and leaves me feeling satisfied. Literally the best tasting coffee I've ever had. 2)I'm very sensitive to coffee in terms of caffeine and tummy troubles. I have no jitters, rumble tummy, or quick runs to the bathroom. 3) As for…

You can't really eat them out of hand like sunflower seeds because they are so tiny, but ca be either sprinkled on foods of any kind. THey don't really impart a flavor, so you can use them on cereal, yogurt, soup, smoothies, oatmeal, pasta sauce, etc. Wherever. You can also let a tablespoon or so soak in a glass of water…

Truly, you have to give any diet about a month to determine if there is a useful trend or not. For myself I have discovered that I have a pattern of gaining weight during the first week of any alteration to my diet or exercise routine. Then, in the two weeks that follow I begin to see the scale slow shift downward.…

Thanks, buddy. I'm glad there is at least one of you out there!

This is hilarious on so many levels!

All I know is, after reading these myriad threads on the clean-eating wars, that MFP is not a place where you will be supported in doing what works for you. If I am eating in a way that is different from you, I suppose I should keep that to myself before I am attacked for being ignorant and told that I should do it a…

Generally staying over 1200 is the guideline. Many of us have discovered that that number is too low and prevents us from losing weight, whereas adding a bit more facilitates weight loss. A big part of this journey is discovering how your individual body works. Its going to be different than how your pre-baby body works.…

Depends on what you are using it for and/or why you need it substituted. Almond butter and Hazelnut butter are simply amazing, and I use Tahini (sesame seed butter) to sub for peanut butter in more savory dishes, like a thai peanut dipping sauce, etc. If you are looking to get rid of the fat and not just peanuts, then I…

Totally open diary, and I'm paleo if that makes a difference :)

From my memory, the first post was a pretty innocuous statement from OP saying she didn't know much about clean eating and what it was all about, was looking for advice/friends. The next several posts were mostly from people saying something brief but disparaging about what they didn't like about clean eaters. THe OP could…

I can't get the thread to link correctly, and I can't figure out why. The title of the thread was "Anyone doing whole/real/clean eating out there?" Perhaps someone else will have better luck linking to it than I did. BTW, I really appreciate your thoughtful discussion style. You are having a conversation, not a shouting…

you are completely right. My bad.

well... she did say "I'm being god to my body and you're not"....and that's pretty crappy. Never mind.

See, I don't get this! What is wrong with what she posted? She is talking about what works for her, is supporting another poster who shares a similar lifestyle, and described ways she tries to accomodate her lifestyle. She said absolutely nothing about you or people who eat differently or how she thinks she better than…

This DOES happen all the time. I was on a thread the other day where someone posted that they were interested in making other friends who were into clean eating. Tons of posts ensued where people, unsolicited, pretty much stated that all clean eaters are preachy, pushy, misguided people. One poster suggested that people…

I agree. I am here for the community, and I accept friend requests with the agreement that I will be doing my best to be there for you with the idea that you'll be doing the same for me. The people I have let go the quickest are those who post constantly about their lives or their day yet never comment on my posts. Seems a…

I have a friend who is a registered dietician and I asked her about this. She said that when you eat makes no difference, and this myth that eating after a certain time began after someone suggested it to ward off midnight snacking and taking in extra calories. The bottom line is: More calories out than in leads to weight…

i was a 20-something in college (the Clinton years) and a 40-something man tried to hit on me by saying, "You look like Monica Lewinski!" I was so offended (and drunk)and I responded in a way that was super-out of character for my usual reserved, rule-abiding personality. I grabbed him by the collar with one hand and…

As a mother of two myself, I feel your pain. I am three pounds away from my pre-baby weight and 8 pounds from goal weight. Losing weight is not the same thing it was before babies. Its an entire lifestyle shift. I think that half the battle is summoning the resources to stick to a plan. If you are like me, most of your…

I would pay close attention to how you feel and consider seeing your doctor. There are so many things that it could be. Vitamin/mineral deficiency sounds right, and it could be iron or B12, or the other Bs. It could be that you are stressing your body too much and you entering adrenal fatigue (which would make it…

To value the appearance of your wedding over your friendships is not only the height of narcissism but a frightening way to begin one of the most pivotal and, at times, challenging relationships of one's life. Marriage is not a pagent at the end of a fairytale, but a commitment at the beginning of a path of self-discovery,…

Regarding Starbucks: This has happened to me and when it does I have politely and kindly mentioned it the next time I was there. Without fail that new drink is on me, and often the drive through person then remembers my voice and my order!! Give them a chance to fix the issue. Starbucks is big on service.
