What is missing in this typical diatribe about CICO and low carb is reference to hormones, and the integral role they play in weight loss. Your body will not be able to use adipose cells for energy if your insulin is high. That is a fact. And weight loss is one thing, and weight maintenance is another.

And machines need oil to drive efficiently, don't they?

I am in Canada (in a relatively large city of ~million people) and I can only buy it online right now. Lucky for me, the shipping is reasonable but it won't ship until November!
-
Great job! I can definitely see the difference!
-
Congratulations! And keep up the great work! Very impressive, especially because you have two little ones!

Hey! I know how you feel. I lost 44 lbs only to gain it all back and more. But the most important thing is that we are back, and not giving up. The past is now gone, so let's plan to stick with logging. All else will follow. Add me if you want! But I warn you - I'll check in with you to make sure you log in! :) And may…

You look beautiful! Keep up with your determination to maintain!
-
What a great idea! I'm going to do the same!
-
Looks like you also kept it off for at least a year! THAT is also a huge accomplishment!

How low is your low carb? To see the most low carb results, you need to be <50 g or so per day, with no meal over 20 g.

That's really curious TBird as IP protocol advises against vigorous exercise (cardio and weights). Walking and light yoga, they are okay with. But anything else is not advised by the IP gurus. I'm training to be an IP coach, so this is right out of the manual.

turkey or bison pepperoni. Low fat, but high protein. And very portable!

Welcome to all the new and seasoned IP dieters! I lost 30 lbs in 3 months, then phased off and maintained for 1 month. And now I'm back and motivated to lose the last 10 lbs! Day 2 today! Getting back to "normal" food was a little scary, but I did my best to be aware of how I feeling and kept repeating to myself the "it…

Congrats! Looking great!!!

Welcome Canadian Panda! Feel free to add me, if you want. I'm now in Phase 4 mtce after losing 30 lbs with IP. I have 10 lbs to lose and I"m thinking about going back on protocol in next week.

You look gorgeous! And what great progress! That is incredible
-
Thanks, Linda! This recipe sounds great!
-
Hi Wilma! Welcome to the IP group. Feel free to add me.

Bison pepperoni and bison jerky! Watch the cheese if you are concerned with fat content.
-
Thanks for this! I agree with many of your reviews. I like the southwest cheese puffs and the the caramel nut bar!
-
Wow! You look unbelievable! And SOOOOOO happy!
-
Look into Ideal Protein! It's a great program and perfect for the "last 10 lbs"!
-
Congrats! Feel free to add me. I'm in Phase 3. Still got about 10 lbs to my goal, but I decided to come off IP for the last 10 lbs as I'm weightlifting a lot.

Linda is right on! It's about the acid/base balance. As for printing out the logs, my coach was good with it. The most important thing is to keep track of everything to keep yourself accountable. I've been doing two many (what I call) "little cheats" lately, such as 2 restricteds, or a little bit of bacon, or a little bit…

Investigate Ideal Protein! it's a low carb weight loss method that will reset your pancreas and get you releasing the correct amount of insulin again. Good luck and all the best.

I have been averaging over 2 lbs a week, but I'm on a ketogenic diet, so that's typical for that type of diet. I was never able to consistently achieve those kind of results on a typical reduced calorie diet.
-
Congratulations! You look amazing!
-
That's great that it went well. I find day 3 and 4 the toughest with ketogenic diets. But yes - I like the simplicity with the salads for lunch. And once I'm in ketosis, I don't feel hungry much. And if I do, I just have an IP packet or a hard boiled egg as a snack. Good luck on Day 2. Keep us posted!

Is there a maximum amount of time you would recommend for a ketogenic diet? Is it safe to get out of it and back in? I heard that it may cause lean mass loss if you go in and out of ketosis?

That is an awesome idea! And congratulations on being chosen! All the best! Oh! Try lower carb than what you've been doing and increase your protein - that will preserve your muscle and get at the stored fat.
