Iciing my achilles tendon and wishing this would finally get better. sigh.

Wow! You have no idea how timely this post is. I am having terrible issues with walking as I have Achilles Tendonitis. I know my weight and Type 2 diabetes are contributing to the difficulty in healing this. I would do just about anything to be able to walk normally with out feeling like I am stepping on a knife. I have…

I've been completely incapacitated by Achilles Tendonitis for the past month. So painful I can barely walk. I've been battling this for over 9 months and I am so tired of it. I've gained about 4 lbs from just sitting and barely moving. It's so discouraging. Does anyone else feel like they are at war with their own body? I…

Hope your week is going well. Welcome to all the newbies! We have had a stretch of fantastic weather and it feels like spring. I know it's just a brief break because we have at least a couple more months of rain here in the Pacific Northwest. But it sure was great to be outside. I got in some extra walking and did a bunch…

A question for you all... Do you pre-plan what you are eating for the day (enter it in MFP and then check it off when you actually eat it)? Do you follow a set meal plan from some kind of program? Do you meal prep for the week? OR do you just eat and then log it?

I am ready to start March with a renewed mindset and focus. First item on my list is to have accountability so I am joining you for this challenge. Thanks!

11Templars - Love your philosophy! I wish more in this world adopted this. (and the tatoos are awesome!) I also fluctuate up and down 5 lbs. It used to bother me but now I just worry about how I feel and what I can physically do. I am not kidding when I say that just being able to walk without pain in every step is a joy…

This group is really growing! Apparently a lot of 50+ in the same boat! I am happy to report that my Achilles Tendonitis is FINALLY getting better and I have started my long walks again. What a joy it is to walk without pain! I will never take it for granted again.

January was a whirlwind of activity and I knew it going in so I did not have high expectations. Now that I am through that and things are settling down I plan to really focus on getting new habits started again. My foot issues are slightly better this week (Achilles tendonitis) so I am hoping I am on the road to healing…

@BonnieHosk85 I have been getting my bread tips from the King Arthur Flour website. Lots of great recipes and tips there. The Six Grain bread recipe is on this page https://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/six-grain-bread-recipe. Hope you all had a good day! I am getting back in the groove so that is a good step forward.

Hello all. I am enjoying reading your posts. My foot pain (achilles tendonitis) was a little less yesterday so I went for a long walk with the dogs. It was nice to walk like a normal person. Pain was back today unfortunately. I am going to start swimming tonight as an alternative. I walk like I am 97 instead of 57. It's…

I don't really "worry" anymore - getting too old for that. I just pray a lot. :) This week I am praying for healing of my achilles tendonitis which makes walking so painful. It's hard to get any exercise when every step is like being stabbed in the back of the foot with a knife. If anyone has experienced this and has…

Hello all. I would like to join this thread. I made a good start last year and then got sick in June and it all derailed. I'd like to pick up where I left off. I had lost 20 pounds but gained 10 back. I am glad that I did not go clear back to the start but still disappointed to have to work off the same ten pounds. I have…

^^ Love this. I knew I had to get in shape when my daughter (about 7 at the time) told me that I would be one of the first to die in the Zombie apocalypse because I was so fat and out of shape. ouch. (Nothing like a kid to give you the unvarnished truth.) However this same kid also told me I should love myself as much as I…

I picked up the "Daniel Plan" book at a garage sale. It has some good guidance about how Faith, Focus, Friends and Food all work together toward a healthy lifestyle. I've never really asked God to help me lose weight. It seemed kind of trivial given all my other problems. But I realize since reading that book that there is…

Happy First Day! I am going to go love myself with some exercise right now as well. Did you make your own motivational cards or is this part of a program?

We have a fitness center in our town that is specifically for over 50 people. Maybe there is something like that in your town as well? I don't go there because I prefer working out at home because it's more convenient. I use Daily Burn and Beach Body on Demand. I like them both. There is a variety of workouts on both sites…

One contributor is the introduction of chemical "obesogens" into our food chain. These chemicals alter how we store fat. It has so poisoned our food system that even wildlife are fatter than they were 30 years ago! Add that chemical alteration to a mostly sedentary lifestyle, bigger portion sizes and higher sugar…
