I take a probiotic, multi-vitamin (centrum Silver for Women), flax seed oil, collagen, and magnesium. I use ultima electrolite powder when I am doing a lot of cardio, vegan protein powder for after working out, and Size Slim Recovery BCAA powder during workouts.

I mean science shows they do next to nothing but ok. [/quote] Not the science that I have read, especially for collagen. Don't dismiss it without looking into it more.

Sometimes it is just about how you are fueling your body and when. I eat carbs before you workout and protein after. I do (all frozen except the spinach) acai puree, coconut water, spinach, pineapple, raspberry, peach or mango in the blender before a workout and vegan protein shake after. You could do whole fruit before…

Don't knock thrift stores. One good pair of work out capris and a t-shirt is all you need year round. Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Old Navy, and even a sports store outlet when there is a sale can be inexpensive. I wish you the best of luck on your journey to health. So glad you are in a good place now. Keep up the good work. Well…

Don't worry about it. I only did cardio - Zumba, cycling, and walking, and I have lost 25 pounds in 5 months. I have just started adding weight lifting into my routine because I felt like it. You do you. Whatever motivates you to move and whatever movement you do IS GOOD! The more you do it, the more you will do it, and…

I hate thinking about strength training, but once I start, I feel so good - strong, sexy, capable, more tone, better in my clothes. My base is 3 exercises per upper body muscle group (shoulders, biceps, triceps, back, chest). I couple arms, back and chest, and shoulders with lower body. That leads to 3 times a week in the…

I am upping my weight training lately now that I have lost more weight and am feeling better. Today I did back and chest after a 35 minute walk on the treadmill. Bench press, rows, two chest machines, three back machines, pull downs, calf raises, and leg lifts where I also lift my glutes off the ground (hits abs pretty…

I think some exercise calories are overestimated, I don't eat back more than 300 exercise calories. Also, if you eat more on the weekends (as I do), you may want to "bank" your exercise calories for the weekend and look at it as a weekly goal instead of a daily one.

Definitely up your protein. I have just started adding organic vegan protein powder after working out with weights. Two scoops has 20 grams of protein and 7 grams of fiber. I got mine at Walmart. I would not add it to your daily calorie total. I also drink BCAAs during my workout. I buy Size Slim mango flavor on Amazon. I…

You’d have to workout for an hour every day to maintain at your original calorie intake and that’s if you don’t go over at all. You should try varying your calorie intake - look at your week instead of a day, so one day you might eat 1500 calories and The weekends eat more, etc. I dont know anyone who is at maintenance…

Nope. I know A LOT of people who used to cross fit, but got injured. Back surgery, knee surgery, etc. These people don't cross fit anymore. They never went back to it, which tells me something. I really like full contact kick boxing (contact is with sparring pads). Full body workout and SO much fun. I couldn't lift my arms…

I don't know where you people buy your pizza, but bar slices around here are about 150 calories per. I think Zumba and cardio kickboxing burn the most. Some of the other exercises are hard to maintain for a full hour at a high intensity (skipping, jump rope, stair climbing, rowing, etc.), but are great for 10 to 15 minute…

What do you think about trigger foods? I can't have packaged foods in the house such as chips as I eat the whole package in one sitting, so I keep it out of the house.

Yogurt has sugar in it because it is made with milk, which has lactose in it, which is a sugar. I eat Oikos triple zero black label Greek Vanilla yogurt. It is sweetened with Stevia and has fiber added as well as a high protein count. Of course I add fruit to it, usually berries or a slice apple with sliced almonds. Not…

I don't count any leafy greens, broccoli, zucchini, celery, cucumbers, etc. I do count all starchy vegetables including winter squashes and all fruits. I also do not eat back any exercise calories though. People that play with their numbers by eating back exercise calories live closer to the "edge" of their weight loss…

Breathless575 I do eat cheese. I like low fat feta and sharp shredded cheddar, but I add it to things (salads and omelettes), I do not snack on it. I do eat starchy vegetables and fruit, so I don't think it is necessarily low carb, but I do try to limit starchy carbs to dinner usually (sweet and white potatoes, butternut…

I agree with the posters. Lift weights and good chest muscles DO help. Victoria secret may be your "cure." I have a lot of girlfriends that wear the push up bras and no one knows! No shame in wearing them.

I never log vegetable calories if they were on the old Weight Watchers "free" list. I do not log celery, broccoli, cucumbers, cauliflower, peppers, lettuce, spinach, peppers, onions, mushrooms, zucchini, and tomoatoes. I DO log butternut squash, carrots, sweet and white potatoes, corn, beans, chickpeas, peas. I use…

Of course you want to lose weight quickly only drinking liquids, but depending on your age, current weight, and activity level, your metabolism can adjust and work against you losing weight if you limit calories so restrictively and if you do not have that much weight to lose, you will lose it slowly. I count calories,…

I take a Centrum multi-vitamin with iron in it right after dinner. It has about 33 percent iron in it and I take it with a calcium and D pill and a flax oil Omega 3 pill. After taking it consistently for a while, I found that the last time I was tested, there was no sign of anemia. I think the consistency is key. I also…

There are some good recipes on Skinny Taste. I just made the cauliflower rice. I added chicken to it. Everyone in my family agreed it was great.

I have switched to just unsweetened cashew milk or skim milk in my coffee. Coffee should not be bitter without sugar. Sometimes I make mine too strong, maybe that's why you think it tastes bitter. I agree with trying different kinds of coffee as well. A stronger coffee needs more "stuff" added to it to balance it. Put in…

Either add in one sweet a day - I know two Dove chocolates are 80 calories, so I can factor them into my daily calories, or build sweet healthy snacks into your meals. I love Oikos Triple Zero Vanilla yogurt with frozen berries or strawberries, steel cut oats with berries and brown sugar, vanilla and cinnamon (or Stevia…

Puffy after lifting? I have NEVER experienced this. I only feel puffy after eating too much. I always feel great after lifting (until the soreness starts of course). I don't think the soreness ever goes away if you are lifting heavy until failure, at least not at my age. Drinking lots of water and eating an…

Tea is caramel colored? I wonder why you can't drink caramel colored drinks. That sounds so odd to me! I drink a lot of tea steeped from tea bags with no sugar and I think it's pretty healthy. Maybe they mean processed drinks with artificial To the poster - please please log everything every day. It helped me so much! You…

Yes I gained about half my weight back. Yes I am back at it and remembering all the good habits I need to re-implement. How many of your good habits have you kept? I let all mine go unfortunately. Log your food for a couple "normal" days to see how much you are eating and that will tell you if you are heading backwards or…

I think listening to your body is most important, so do what works for you.

I think eating a staggered amount of calories is good.

You can microwave popcorn with no salt by using a lunch paper bag, some kernels, and a little vegetable oil. Butternut squash with brown sugar and pepper, whole grain pasta with roasted veggies, spices and olive oil, homemade hummus with low salt crackers, carrots, celery, cukes, and tomatoes, vinegar is a low salt but…

I bring a cooler with food on most vacations for myself - yogurt, fruit, hard boiled eggs. I also would pack snacks for the little ones - granola bars, nutrigrain bars, cereal and portable snacks such as nuts and dried edamame. Planning at night when the kids go to bed is the fun part. More structure leads to less melt…
