Yes they do make a huge difference. Plus remember you only want to put so many miles on them when running....then I use my old shoes for yard work, etc.

Couch to 5k is a good program to use, however, don't get discouraged if you can't do it right away. Start at your own pace and go slow...you will get there little by little.
-
Good luck and hope you reach your goal of the marathon.

Its alright for you, however, your legs need to rest at some point. Thats when to fix in weights, etc.

Me taken after finishing a 5k race

Congrats...the best part is you did it at your own pace. Keep the the hard work, before you know it you will be running a 5k race.

I have this problem only on the eliptical...I have tried relacing shoes, but no help. It must have to do with circulation or something. Good question.

Congrats, keep up the hard work

You look great, congrats on your accomplishments. I totally agree with cutting the soda's and fast food out. Very rarely now do I have either, sometimes they just look so darn good though.

One day won't kill you. Just learn from it and move on.

You can eat it, just will have to adjust your calorie intake. One cookie once ina while won't hurt, just don't do it everyday...wasted calories.

Water is very important, I never heard you should drink half your weight, but that could be a good idea. I would think it depends on how active you are. Good points made though

You have a great point. I think you need to push along and do what you feel in comfortable. Its not healthy to eat just 500 calories a day, while you are burning 1000 calories a day, just ot look good for the summer. You hit the nail on the head when you said this is a lifetime change, not for 3 or 4 months. Hang in there…

I have four kids and have done the cheerleading, band, and other sports. It does get very busy during those seasons and you hope your son gets committed to the sport. We would usually eat a snack before practice and then a small snack after they get home, because he will be hungry. Like I said it can be very time consuming…

You should count everything in the salad...it adds calories, however, they are good ones...

If you are going on very long runs, 6 or more miles, stage a water bottle somewhere along the way if you don't want to carry it. As far as going to the bathroom, I usually go before I ran, then most of the time will be ok during the run. If not, a wooded area is always nice.....good luck

People are only cheating themselves if they don't log everything. I understand you might not be able to log daily, however, don't just skip your bad days. I'm new at this website but think it will help by keeping me honest.

As anything, you can eat it in moderation. I eat whole wheat bread all the time and love it.
