Actually, macros ARE important to me. Maybe it's because diabetes runs in my family. I need to be under 40% carbs or I can't lose no matter what my calories. 35% is better. That is NOT low carb, it means I've just upped my protein.

Exercise is critical for maintenance so that's great. If you're hitting your calorie goals, you might try the Whole30 eating plan. It does NOT involve dropping calories - you're actually not even supposed to log. I did on my doctor's recommendation for stomach problem. It's basically an elimination diet: no grains, dairy,…

I have like 1/4 cup of ice cream every night. I also will have a square of chocolate (35 calories). For me, the better the quality, the less I have to eat to satisfy myself. I also find dropping sugar in my coffee and tea actually really helps.

I lost weight for several months after I went to 'maintenance'. I had first upped by 250 calories, then (when I was still losing) upped another 250, which should have been maintenance. I slowed down. Eventually (I've been doing this 6 years), I had to drop down another 250. I don't know if that's because my logging is…

I drink martinis. Slowly.

I did a few months ago. Even when I was hungry I put food in my mouth and my stomach would close. I'm almost 60 and had never experienced that before. My doctor put my on a whole30 diet, which my husband went on with me. The food was delicious and things turned around very quickly. I also know my parents and mother-in-law…

As others say, this is the wrong forum for you. And as others have said, this is a lifestyle change not a diet. I've been logging six years. I'm almost 60 and this is the firsts weight loss effort I have ever made. I was never overweight, but my only regret is I didn't do it 5 years earlier before my weight crept up.

I calculate by the week. I hit my calorie goals most days - I'm hungry when I work out a lot and less when I am sedentary. I usually eat over at least once a week. But I ALWAYS hit my weekly goal. I've maintained within 5 pounds of my original goal for 6 years.

I'm a wimp. I walk 3.5 miles most days and always do 30 minutes of walking with elevated heart rate.

I’ve been eating boiled eggs. Good peanut or almond butter is not expensive at Trader Joe’s or Costco (those are cheap sources for nuts). I put them on celery or apples. Chicken with a bbq sauce or rub may be tasty. If you’re okay with tuna, try egg or chicken salad as well. I have been doing the whole 30 diet - which is…

Thank you. Whatever was wrong, the weight is just falling off with the change in macros. My husband has lost 16 pounds now.

I had that problem. I'm sorry, I don't think your scale is incorrect. It made no sense to me either. I upped my protein and dropped my carbs and the weight dropped again. I did not change my calories or my exercise. I had been maintaining 5 years at that point.

I eat what I want and make sure I only eat when I'm hungry. I try hard to eat delicious food, because I need less good food to feel satisfied. I make sure my calories are under my goal for the week. To me, a splurge is taking a second helping of something luscious when I'm not hungry and know I'll have to make it up later.…

I had luck loosing unexplained weight by upping my protein and dropping my carbs while maintaining the same calories and exercise. I’d been struggling with it for months but when I switched up the weight fell right off. Carbs tend to encourage you body to retain water, especially if you’re gaining muscle.

I think if you focus on what you’re doing your partner will think you are the most beautiful woman in the world. Everyone looks both silly and beautiful in bed. Second, everyone has a double chin when they look down. It’s how we bend. I bet you don’t notice it on others. That said, this may be how you are built. We all…

Be assured that you can’t have gained 10 pounds in fat in four weeks. The broken ribs and other swelling have likely made you hold a lot of water. Please focus on healing. It takes a lot of energy to rebuild that tissue and bone. If you want to stay fit, a PT may be able to teach you some sitting lower body exercises while…

1-2 palm sized portions of protein per meal and lots of veg, potatoes, yams, avocados, nuts etc. Before this routine my macros were around 40% carbs, 15% protein, and 45% fat. After this routine it's 30% carbs, 30% protein, 40% fat.

I had similar problems after six years - gained 5 pounds for no reason and was slowly moving up on calories where I shouldn't have been. Because I was having other health issues, my doctor put me on the Whole30 plan. It's not really meant for weight loss, it's a paleo-style elimination diet you go on for 30 days to reduce…

I plan on eating moderate amounts of delicious food the rest of my life, continuing exercising, and continuing logging. I kind of like logging (and it usually tells me I should eat more, not less). I need to exercise to stay strong. The higher quality food I eat the less I want of it.

It takes a while. I gained 50 pounds with each pregnancy, nursed forever. It was steady steady steady until 7 months. Then the fat started melting off. I wouldn't keep weight on. From ages 1-3 (both nursed that long) I could eat ANYTHING and was at my skinniest adult weight ever. Be patient with yourself. You just made a…

Finished the Whole30 yesterday. Calories and exercise did not change. However, my macros changed and I dropped the five things Whole30 makes you change: no alcohol, dairy, sweeteners, legumes, or grain. It's essentially an elimination diet like you'd do to check for sensitivities. I lost 10 pounds in a month and wasn't…

I'm one of the people in the National Weight Loss Study. That's where those numbers come from that says that most people regain all the weight they lost. To get into the study you have to have lost at least 30 pounds and have maintained that loss for a year. For that successful group of folk, 65% regained most of their…

I always track it because I hit my goals by the week not the day. I typically go over Friday and/or Saturday but I'm always under for the week by almost 1000 calories. But some weeks I have to watch it to make sure I hit the mark. If I didn't track I wouldn't do that.

I just filled out my National Weight Loss study yearly survey and I have been maintaining for five years. During that time I have very much enjoyed eating and have only gained back 5 of the 38 pounds I had lost (BMI 23). We have been so enjoying the Whole 30 program (just finished today) that my husband and I are going to…

Congratulations!

It's really easy if you're eating healthy already. I lost six pounds. My husband's lost 8 in the same two weeks. And I'm not even watching calories (though am logging) and I feel very very satisfied. My husband wants to stay on a less strict version after the 30 days (so we can eat out). But this essentially an eating…

I had a similar issue at 5 years. (You can read my post on the post.). I would be concerned because I did have a hard time taking that small amount of weight off - even after I cut calories and even though it had worked before. A couple of things that have worked for me: Up your exercise. Maintainers need to basically…

The most important thing is obviously to take care of yourself and heal. But exercise (and food) help with that. After surgery my father had a lot of aerobic exercises he did on the couch. He did leg and hold lifts. He did a lot of exhausting exercises using just his arms. I am sure your physical therapist can work with…
