  • Thanks, and congrats on you 20 lb. loss. I have managed to log my food for several days straight now and it is opening my eyes to some mistakes I am making. I am hoping to get through these holidays without really blowing it.
  • Sounds great but 1/2 honey??? 1/2 what - I am assuming 1/2 cup, is that right?
  • I wish I had your problem. If I am bored, sick, depressed, by myself etc. I find myself looking for a snack. I mostly snack on healthy stuff - fruit, nuts etc.; however, they are full of calories and in the case of nuts - fat; but I am a living example that you can get fat eating right if you eat too much. I would LOVE to…
  • Try adding some protein - egg, peanut butter, slice of ham etc. Breakfast is a time to get in some calories because you have all day to work them off. Curbing the hunger is one of my main problems also, but eating too few a calories leads to bingeing and usually when I binge, it is not on healthy stuff. Strive to get a…
  • It is great that you are restarting before you put it ALL back on plus some like a lot of us. I too am restarting, but I didn't start back soon enough like you are doing. Good going, we all lose and gain, but we need to learn your lesson, start back before you gain it all back.
  • I would like in on this one if it is not to late to join. My weight as of July 26 is 159.8 and I am 5'2" so I need to lose approximately 30 pounds. I need to learn how to keep myself from bingeing after doing well for several days. It seems I find myself craving everything and grabbing everything after several days of…
  • Love it - a great poem and very inspiring - way to go - I needed that!!
  • That is awesome!!! Being able to reward yourself for weight loss with something besides food. That shows your lifestyle change is for the good; even in the face of your family eating something you yourself probably love. Keep up the good work and when that money jar gets full, treat yourself with something YOU want. You go…

  • I use Barilla brand multi-grain pasta and so far my family has not rejected it. I know what you mean, some of the wheat pastas do not taste good but Barilla makes a good multi-grain pasta. This recipe sounds great.
  • There are some cookbooks out now about pureeing your vegetables and mixing them in other foods or sauces. Jerry Steinfields wife has one out and I think it is called deceptively different. It is the way she gets her kids to eat vegetables without knowing it.
  • To keep the calories down so I CAN lose, I eat lots of fruit and vegetables and try to stay away from white carbs as much as possible. Making a big pot of vegetable soup helps me -- especially when I realize I have eaten too many calories for the day. A big bowl of homemade vegetable soup is only 50 calories. I find eating…
  • Congratulations on your 10 lbs. lost and also congratulations on sticking to it rather than going out with the girls for unhealthy choices. Remind yourself - "it's just food and I can have that another time". Also, "nothing tastes as good as thin feels". I had a set back last week with gaining a whole pound (July 4th…

  • I always told my kids to "enjoy being single, you have the rest of your life to be married". I totally agree with tabsoda's reply. I would also add "Choose to rise...Don't Settle...and go for your dreams!!! And most of all let God lead you in everything you do". Believe me, having someone in your life does not mean you…
  • I too have problems getting the weight and inches off, but remember, if you quit, the pounds come back even quicker and you will end up gaining more. (Been there done that and don't want to do it again!) Just keep plugging away and be thankful you are not gaining. Our bodies have to adjust to what we are doing.
  • Water aerobics, in my opinion, is one of the best exercises you can do. It is easy on the joints. The water resistance gives you a great workout without being so hard on the joints. Good luck and hope you enjoy it.
