Anyway, I hope you have a lovely hike tomorrow, Suzy! Are you still involved with that hiking group? Let us know what the class is like. I think your background (modern, tap, jazz) will probably better for the class. It's great that there's a mix of ages! I liked the over 55s class because it was nice being with other…

I'm trying to make a plan and thinking of going back to this: http://www.nosdiet.com/ . (Basically "no snacks, no sweets, no seconds, except on S days. S days = Saturdays, Sundays, Sick days and Special days). It's how I started my weight loss years ago, and it worked very well. I think now that I am lighter I might have…

Lol! Oh how I hate that realisation that clothes are getting tighter. And the dilemma over whether to buy a size up just so you can look decent, or to refuse to in the hope that the tight clothes will be a reminder not to eat! Going for the latter option at the moment, but a bit worried that my trousers are going to burst!…

Well, I've been to the dance class, so it's your turn now, Suzy! Lol! I feel the same about the gym, still have a membership going, but dance is so much more fun. Unfortunately more expensive. I did both of the over 55s classes that were on, tap and ballet. I enjoyed the ballet more, so have bought the shoes for that.…

Lubrication definitely helps! I wasn't a bad dancer in my youth. I even like to say I did a tiny bit "professionally" (i.e. I got paid a few quid) in my teens. But I don't know if it's age or lack of practice, but I'm absolutely terrible now! My "social dancing" hasn't moved on since the '80s. I don't even know what you're…

The major work on my house is finished - still have some other stuff to arrange. Everything is now back in the house in boxes, but I can't remember where it all went, and trying to use it as an opportunity to declutter as well! I've got used to the new medication, thanks, Gail! I definitely have major letting go issues. I…

Happy Thanksgiving when it comes to those who are celebrating it! Enjoy seeing your son, Suzy! That's so nice of you to help out your ex brother in law, Snoozie. What a sad situation for him. I would be no good at butt-kicking, as I'm not doing at all well myself. I had a change of medication which didn't agree with me, so…

Oh my goodness, that southern food sounds amazing! I think it's a great idea to have smaller portions rather than not eat it or order something different. I hope you have a lovely celebration. I'm with you both on the exercise - yes, I think it encourages me to eat more, and no, I don't think it actually burns that many…

I started off with Tanita body fat scales. I changed a few years ago to Omron scales, the type which have a piece which you hold in your hands (something like this https://www.omron-healthcare.co.uk/digital-scales/BF511_Blue.html). I thought this might give a better idea of body fat %, but the big selling point with these…

Oh wow, massive congratulations! That's absolutely amazing! To think that you are now lighter than you have been for almost 30 years! It does show the value of just sticking at it despite the ups and downs. I'm so pleased for you! You are setting a good example for me too. I have "only" had the excess weight for about 15…

Beautiful pictures, Suzy! You look so young! I love the waterfull, absolutely stunning :) x I'm laughing at you filling in your blood request form, Snoozie! I have been tempted in the past, but never had the nerve!

No, nothing like that, just pulse and BP, which I could check at home anyway. They do check cholesterol, but only total cholesterol, not HDL or LDL. They also check kidney function, as I have kidney disease. Actually, I don't think an ECG would be much use if I wasn't having an episode at the time! But yes, I always wonder…

Wow, sounds like your Italy holiday did you a power of good, judging by your results! That's fantastic! Apart from the thyroid, but I suppose that's something they can keep an eye on and treat if necessary. Wish you could have swapped out the sweating for some unexplained weight loss, though -j/k! :) I hope the neck XRay…

I personally find it useful to weigh daily. As much as anything, it's a reminder - I'm sure if I changed to weekly, I'd end up forgetting. It's easier to have it as part of a morning routine, along with taking my medication, brushing my teeth, etc!

I'm showing my age (and probably my nationality!), but the things I remember are - herrings in oatmeal, fried - potatoes in oatmeal with butter - salty porridge - oranges with sugar - shelling peas - stovies - tablet - treacle toffee - Arbroath smokies - mutton pies - raspberries and brambles - Tudor crisps -…

Wow, I'm really impressed by you fixing the washing machine! Those things are a mystery to me. But I do think there's a huge sense of satisfaction when you manage to do something like that. I also commend your restraint at the bazaar. So difficult. I always want to try a bit of everything. Oh, one thing that was good about…

I could go on forever, as I've been maintaining for a good few years now and have tried all sorts! I've found keeping to meal times can be helpful, along with portion control. I've done three meals a day, two meals a day, one meal a day, and sometimes no meals (intermittent fasting) - all work, as long as I'm aware that if…

Love the owls! Are they carved into the wood? Great idea of going somewhere new to walk. There a couple of nature reserves near me that I haven't visited yet, keep meaning to! It's great that you're back at pickleball. I did get fancy new scales in the end. What a palaver! They cost a fortune and it took hours, and I do…

No, I don't think it's necessary to log forever, but it's necessary (for me, at least!) to do something. I've tried various methods and generally prefer non-logging methods of calorie control. I think this is just a personal preference. I find MFP has become more and more cumbersome, particularly if you don't tend to eat…

Happy Thanksgiving, Snoozie! Good luck with the Juardiance, Gail. I hope you escape the side effects ... I haven't heard of it and hadn't seen those adverts, but you really made me laugh! Your weekend sounds really lovely, Suzy! Nice to do something different for a change - and I bet you got lots of gentle exercise just…

Doesn't heavy exercise sometimes make you retain a little water, or am I imagining that? 2lb does sound like fluctuation. Well done on the massive hike! I hope you see the loss you deserve soon. Yes, Snoozie, I do think there's a bit of stress eating, for the reasons you say. I feel unsettled with the house. When the work…

Thank you for sharing the photos, Snoozie! It looks amazing! It sounds like you had a great and very active time! I'm glad you didn't think about "dieting" when you were away. It's a once in a lifetime experience and Italian food is so good. I think that all the walking and hauling luggage around probably balanced it out.…

Thanks Suzy! My hand is getting better, and I can use it more now, so no more excuses not to cook - lol!
-
Wow, that's beautiful, Snooozie! I can't wait to hear all about it! Sleep well :) Glad you're getting good hiking weather, Suzy! We've had a hotter than usual summer, and I'm quite enjoying the cool, wet weather at the moment! Thanks for asking about the house - yes, all going well with some blips, kind of limbo at the…

Snooozie, I hope you have a wonderful time! I agree about not logging in. It will be an experience that you don't get very often, so make the most of it! Well done on the weight loss, Gail! And the reappearing bones! Yes, it's always a struggle. Suzy, I can't believe you go hiking in that heat! It always impresses me what…

What terrible news, Milove. I'm so sorry. Thinking of you and your family. x x

I bet that some degree of osteopenia is really common in us "older" women. I don't think post-menopausal hormone levels support bone and muscle well. On the bright side, when it comes to bone, I'm sure it's considered better to be carrying a little extra weight than be underweight! And weight-bearing exercise is meant to…

Sorry, I'm catching up again! So much going on here! Your meal sounds delicous. I have tried to eat "heart healthy" food since being diagnosed several years ago now, so a lot of the food you are including sounds very familiar! The only thing I'm not so good on is fish - I love it, but most of the fish you get in…

That bridge looks exciting! You are so adventurous! I'm glad you had such a great hike. It sounds very hard!

Have a lovely hike, Suzy! I honestly prefer walking in cloudy rather than sunny weather. Enjoy!
