I've had the same thing happen to me. What changed it for me was getting new shoes. I knew my stride of a bit off and talked to the guy at the shoe store. He recommended a certain kind and they helped! No more pain in my shins.

I guess you could say I'm on week 3. I started, got the respiratory crap, so started over again. However, I have modified it a bit. I'm running every day, M-F. The walk times I have modified a bit. I only walk a minute then run again. Just looked up Week 3, so we'll see how it goes in the morning. I'm not sure if I'll…

I think it happens to everyone at one time or other. I've been on this journey for a long time. First time I lost 110 lbs. When I reached goal, all I heard was "Now you can eat normal". AGGGGGGG They don't get it and never will. I've explained til I'm blue in the face - it's like talking to a wall. They don't want to put…

1) Where you are at in your running program (i.e. Week/Day)? W1D2 (again!) 2) What days do you do your running? M - T - Th or F 3) Why you are doing the program? I have always wanted to do a 5K. Plus lose some more weight! Oh, it helps relieve stress! 4) Overall fitness goal? Get healthy! OK - and look good! ...and the fun…

Hi! It's great that your daughter likes exercise with you! My daughter is 15. She'll go with me some, but not much. On the other hand, she like to run outside and can leave me standing. So...... Make sure you have good shoes. When I started the first time, my feet and calves hurt. I knew my shoes were old, but... ended up…

Hi Everyone! I started C25K about a month ago. Did week 1 then got the upper respiratory crap that's going around. So, no gym for about 2 1/2 weeks. Tried, but almost passed out since I couldn't breath! So, started week one over again. I'm kinda modifying it a bit. This week I've run mon & tues - off today - will run thur…

You can do it! Just remember one day at a time. It can be overwhelming, it's a lot of information to process. Start with the little things. Don't try to do it all at once. That is a sure set-up for failure. I've lost over 110 lbs and kept all but 30 pounds off for about 2 1/2 years. What I tell people is this - pick one…

I hear people complain about the "sounds" of the gym. It's a freakin gym! If you don't like it go to the "other gym" or stay home. I don't lift heavy enough yet to grunt (just starting out -again), but that's my goal. The only time I've every been annoyed, is there is this older gentleman that grunts with every rep. Not…

I was using a weight program off of bodybuilding.com. I'm getting ready to start again this week. They have a lot of different ones you can pick from. It really made a difference when I was using weights.

I hated the comments when I got close to goal the first time (over 110 lb lost) - "Now you can eat what you want" Now you can eat normal" "Now......... fill in the blank". Never, ever. I also know Now - my normal isn't the same as theirs. Now - I'm not the one huffing and puffing from just walking. Now - I'm not the one…

Feel free to add me as friend. I know how you feel. I've lost over 110, kept it off for almost 2 years. Major stress - divorce - have gained 30 back. So, trying to get that off plus a little more. It is a never ending process. But..... it is so worth it! Until recently, I was at the gym 5 to 6 days a week. Got sick and…

Congrats on the weight loss! Like you I lost a lot of weight, then mine was divorce instead of marriage. I have yo-yoed for a year. I'm ready to get the 30 pounds back off and more! Have you done any weight training? It helps a lot.

I used to workout at home. Weighing over 250 pounds I was too embarrassed to go to the gym. Started with the Beachbody programs - Slim-n-Six, then Chalene Extreme (2 rounds), P90X (2 rounds) then bought Turbo Fire. At the time I was married - hubby decided we needed to join the gym. So we did, bought 3 memberships for the…

I know I'm not alone, but people don't ever talk about having a food addiction and unless you do, you don't understand it. I once tried to explain it tot my ex. He just didn't get it. It will always be a part of my life. I've lost over 100 lbs. Gained some back and seem to be stuck now. I know how to lose weight, it's just…

Another good Beachbody program is Slim 'n 6. That was the first one I did. No jumping at all if I remember right.

I set mine to 45% protein, 35% carb, 25% fat. There are other websites that can help you figure it out. Bodybuilding.com - in the forums - has a good one.

I've lost over 100 lbs and yes you can do it without exercise. I hated to exercise. The only thing I did was walk my dog. But, as I lost weight I felt better and started walking. That's all I did for a long time. But now I love to exercise. I'm at the gym almost everyday. I feel like something is missing without it. When…

I only have one. Want more, but deciding what I want is the problem. I know I want something to symbolize my weight loss 100+ pounds, just don't know what. Second problem is I have psoriasis - gotta get is cleared up before I do anything.

Right now there isn't anything. I'm just getting back into the swing of things, so not tempting myself right now. However, before I went stupid and gained some weight back, I love chocolate! So that would be my splurge. I still fit it into my calories/macros. I also buy it in the prepackaged little squares. Makes portion…

You sound like me. I know exactly where you're coming from. I'm the same way. I lost 110+ pounds about 3 years ago. Divorce = stress eating. I finally have my head back in the game. Just remember this - You are worth it! No food you eat will ever make you feel better in the long run. You have to start looking at food as…

Well, that's an easy one for me. Ex decided he was tired of working on the marriage and "couldn't do it anymore". So he filed for divorce.
-
Yep! Once reached goal the general comment was "now you can eat what you want". NOT! They just don't get it, that this is a lifetime thing for me. I stopped trying to explain things to people - It's like beating your head against the wall. They either don't want to get it or realy don't get it.

I agree, get involved. I've lost over 100 pounds. I've always logged on here, but used a different site for support. I've maintained for almost 2 years. Life happens - stopped being involved in the forums, support system gone. Stress hit hard (divorce) = 30 pounds gained. So, I'm back! I know it is vital to have a support…

Hi Everyone! I'm Renee, from Texas. I've been on MFP for a while now. Used it when I lost my weight (110 lbs). Long story short - now single (divorce final for a year). I didn't get on the message boards before. The divorce kinda threw me for a loop, in the last 4 months I've gained about 30 pounds. Holidays were hard. So,…

Me too!!! I need all the support I can get! Especially since the people around me aren't very supportive.
-
I understand all too completely. Mine isn't facebook though, it people around me. Only a few understand "the body building thing" and very few understand the weight loss thing at all. Most people just don't get it, don't want to get or really don't understand. I used to weigh over 250 pounds. They all think once I got to…

Many, many good posts. But this one hit home for me. I was where you are not too long ago. I'd walk out of the gym at night thinking "Why am I doing this? What is the reason?" For me it's easy to slip back into the "fat thinking". It was time to do some soul searching and get back to it. As others have said, it isn't a…
