Here are a three of my favorite low-calorie recipes. All three are super easy, super satisfying, and under or close to 300 calories. Butternut and Acorn Squash Soup http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Butternut-and-Acorn-Squash-Soup/Detail.aspx Garden Vegetable Soup (For even cheaper and easier, I replace some of the fresh…

My Wii Fit suggested a healthy BMI/weight for me based on my height, weight, age, and gender. However, I also took a quick look around the internet and verified it with my doctor. I, too have wondered if I'll actually stop when I get to my goal or if I'll try for another 5 pounds. I would love to say I'd lost 30 pounds,…

I, too, have been considering getting a HRM. However, I'm more interested in one of the wrist models. (I'd like to be able to wear it to work, and the chest straps seems like it could lead to awkward questions.) Are the wrist HRMs as accurate as the chest ones? And which one would you recommend?

My general rule when I cook is that I'm going to cook once. If my husband doesn't like what I cook, he knows where the deli meat is. That being said, we sit down together at the beginning of the week and discuss our meals for the week together. This is my husband's chance to voice his opinion and have some input on the…

While we're talking about running shoes, have any of you guys had any experience with Somnio running shoes? http://www.somniorunning.com/home I get terrible blisters on my insteps, and I'm considering these customs as an option. Other suggestions would also be quite welcome!

I appear to be seeing the same glitch. Weird.

I used to have some suna pants back when I was in a ballet company. I wore them ONLY for the first twenty minutes or so of class, to help my muscles get nice and loose and stretchy. Once in a while I'd wear them longer, only if I had an injury that needed to stay loose, but never for the whole class. Personally, I would…

Because my husband has high cholesterol we use olive oil for everything except baking sweets. To be frankly honest, I can't really taste a difference!
-
I like to eat them if I need to eat something RIGHT before a run, because it gives me energy without sitting heavy in my stomach. I also like to mash them up and put them in my morning oatmeal with some almond butter. The natural sweetness of the banana means I don't need to add any additional sugar, and it keeps me…

I, too, have exercise induced asthma, and I run between 3-5 miles every day. For me, there are two big things to remember: 1) Start out slow. Your lungs will get stronger with time, if you don't try to push them too hard. 2) Listen to your body! When I run I make sure I always have my inhaler with me, and if I start to…

I have not tried Hydroxycut myself, however, a quick look around Google revealed that it's essentially a caffeine pill. The way it works is by jacking you up on so much caffeine (more the two cups of coffee, apparently,) that suddenly running on the treadmill doesn't sound so exhausting. Not only does this sound unhealthy,…

I like the kind that go over and around the backs of my ears. You can get them at Walmart for like, $15. I had the same problem when I first started running, and these fixed it!

I have not tried it myself, but a quick Google of "fastin reviews" gave me these: http://www.dietresearch.com/diet-reviews/fastin/ http://www.dietspotlight.com/fastin-review/ Doesn't sound like a good idea to me, but I've never been keen on the idea of diet pills to begin with, so take it for what it's worth.

Paula Deen makes me want to vomit. My husband and I went to her restaurant in Savannah during our honeymoon, and everything was literally drowning in grease. It was disgusting. (And this was in my pre-health food days!) Honestly, we should have saved our money and stayed home and eaten a stick of butter. Gross. I happened…

I've always been a person who's able to make myself get up (even if I really don't want to,) so I don't have any good tips. However, my dad, who was an early morning runner, used to sleep in his workout clothes. That way, all he had to do was get out of bed, throw on his shoes, and run our the door. He used to say that he…

I feel your pain. I strained a tendon in my right leg last week, which means I'm forbidden from any kind of skiing or snow shoeing. Which wouldn't be a big deal, because I can still run, except that we're in the middle of a huge blizzard! So no running for me until everyone in town gets out and shovels their sidewalks.…

Mine stems from my husband's nickname for me. When we were first dating he started calling me Stephanie Monster. (Monster like a Sesame Street monster, not like Godzilla super ***** monster.) He said it was because I'm so animated and full of life. From that came the "rawr," which is a little way that we sweet talk to each…

At the mall in Albany they have a little place that sells all kinds of candy and gummies. It's set up in the middle of the walkway, just bin after bin of every type of gummy imaginable with inviting scoops for the grabbing. My husband literally has to drag me away to keep me from embarrassing myself. I guess what I'm…

Here are two of my favorites: Butternut and Acorn Squash Soup http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Butternut-and-Acorn-Squash-Soup/Detail.aspx Hearty Seafood Stew http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/hearty-seafood-stew/cff87f4d-c824-44c1-86d9-c56f40e05ccb Both are filling, super yummy, and under 300 calories. Good luck! Stephanie

Story of my life. I usually try to make sure I've got some calories to spare so that I can give myself a little snack. My favorite late-night snack is Chocolate Cheerios, because they're chocolatey, crunchy, and if I eat them one or two at a time I can make them last a long time. Would it be better if I didn't snack at…

Pull down your big red Betty Crocker Cookbook. (What, you don't have one? Go get one. Now. Right now. You'll thank me.) Try their Hearty Seafood Stew. It is beyond delicious. Super hearty, low-calorie, and because all the seafood is going into a stew you can get away with buying some of the cheaper fish fillets and shrimp.…

As others have said, it doesn't really do enough to be my sole form of exercise. I have to Wii Fit for 1.5 hours to get the same burn as running for 25 minutes! That being said, it's a great tool to have in your pocket. I like it because it takes away all excuses. If it's dumping down rain or dark outside or I'm out of…

I used to be a daily weigher. I thought it was keeping me on the straight and narrow, but it was actually making me obsessive. I was letting my entire day be either made or ruined by what that scale said. Now I weigh myself once a week, and it's worked much better for me. Sure, it gets frustrating when it feels like I…

Welcome! I've been on MFP for almost two months, and it's made all the difference in the world. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you can accomplish when you have all the right tools AND the drive! Let's rock it out and kick some *kitten* together! Best, Stephanie

The other thing I have to remind myself is that what the Wii Fit or MFP say I did or ate is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is what happened in my reality. The food that actually went in my mouth, the work my body actually did. These other things are only tools to help me get an accurate picture of what that…

My December goal: I want to reach my goal weight (145 lbs) by the New Year while ALSO enjoying the holidays. I plan to achieve this by kicking my exercise up a notch on days that I know I won't necessarily be able to stick to my healthy diet and keep drink, drink, DRINKING water!

Welcome! I joined this site almost two months ago, and it's made all the difference in the world! I think you'll be presently surprised at what you can accomplish when you've got all the tools AND the drive to better yourself. Rock it out and kick some *kitten*! Stephanie

I used to be a once-a-day weigher, and like you, my mood was dictated by whether I'd lost or gained. The problem is that your body weight naturally fluctuates by as much as two pounds during the day. I was finding myself getting depressed by weight gains that may or may not have actually had anything to do with my exercise…

Welcome! I'm 5 pounds away from my 25 pound weight-loss goal, and MFP made all the difference in the world for me! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to see what you're capable of. Let's kick some *kitten* together!

I won't say I ENJOY it, per say. It hurts, and nothing that hurts is fun. Oh, and that "runner's high"? Bull****. But I can usually get myself into a good enough mental place to get into a pretty good groove. That's where I'm going along, and I'm thinking about things and enjoying my music and the pain is kind-of pushed to…
