Eat something light the morning of your race. At least an hour or 2 before race time. Things to try, Peanut butter toast, oatmeal or a banana. As for water and anything else. I've been to many races and there are always headphones. Even though the rules state not to use them. Everyone does it. I choose not to cuz I like to hear the cheers from the people watching (for 1/2's and fulls). Are you doing the Cleveland marathon?
