Congratulations on losing 35 pounds! That's significant! It is believable that you're dosage would need to go down based on the weight loss, but if you were just checked 2 weeks ago, I wouldn't suspect that all of those symptoms are based on your weight loss if they were just normal 2 weeks ago and you've had these…

I see no reason why you should feel out of place for celebrating a tradition outside of your culture. Be thankful for the company and invitation and help enjoy their celebration. Do you feel you have nothing to be thankful for? Thanksgiving to most of us it simply about celebrating a great meal with great company and…

I don't quite fit the group's typical criteria, but since I was invited to join the group I will pipe in! My name is Lauren. I'm from New Jersey and just got married in October. A little about me: I'm 24, my family is the most important part of my life, even if I have no children of my own yet. I am here mostly for health…

I have hashimoto's as well. Because it is an auto-immune disease there will be some good days and some bad days, but it sounds like you've been living with that for some time anyway and were only just diagnosed. I've heard the same about gluten free diets and hashimotos. I tend to feel better with a low-carb diet, which…

Thank you to everyone for sharing your stories! I'm not over 50, but I'd love to share you stories with my mom for motivation. She's 61 and keeps telling me that she can't lose the weight due to age. She was one of those lucky people that never had to worry about her weight until menopause when she developed Hashimoto's.…

I don't think eating seasonal food would have any major impacts for your diet, but I think it is a great idea to eat seasonal produce. Other countries may not have the same guidelines and may be using chemicals on your produce that have been banned in your country. It's also cheaper to eat what is in season. From the…

I honestly don't get the allure. I played FFXI on release in NA (2003) and then tried WoW shortly after release in 2004 because FFXI was "tedious" after awhile. Maybe the problem was it really was buggy beyond belief on release, but I never really got into it. I even tried playing it again several times because I had…

I understand and I think everyone here has felt the same way! I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's when I was 15 (probably had it longer). I'm 24 and sometimes it is just soooo frustrating to not be normal. It's really frustrating when you make choices and have others judge you because "you're young and don't need to worry…

I typically make enough food for leftovers the next day, but I also make a batch of low carb soups and freeze them in single serving containers for when I need a quick lunch. Also, tuna salad and low-carb wraps are good alternatives.

Not sure what type of eating plan you follow, so this might be too much for you, but I loooove kale with cream and bacon. It's at least something different to try if it fits in your eating plan. 1) Cook bacon. Drain and set aside. 2) Saute onions and garlic in olive oil or butter. 3) Add Kale and chicken stock or water.…

Looks yummy! Thanks for sharing, Clare. :flowerforyou:

Thanks everyone! I'll be experimenting with some different options and if anything turns out to be tasty, I'll post the recipes for you all to enjoy!

I personally don't drink mio or log my water since I drink plenty of it, but if I did, I would probably log it as water. This is a heavily debated topic on this site and many people will only log water. However, unless something is a diuretic/causes dehydration, your body is going to magically know that it isn't solely…

Thanks! I like all the options and nice to see I'm where I should be.

It may make your road more difficult when you don't have the support, but that doesn't mean it is impossible! You still hold the power to say no. My family and friends have not been very supportive and there are days when I cave. What I do is focus on the long-term. I log on to MFP everyday and log my food. I own up to the…

They are soooo close to getting it...then they completely miss the mark. It's nice to see someone promoting ketosis, but that isn't it. What really scares me about this program is that it may end up giving ketosis a bad name if people end up thinking you have to eat less than 800 calories to be in ketosis. I hope Optifast…

Looks delicious! I'll have to try it out. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Laura! I also love the outdoors hiking, kayaking and being active! I had a few rough years and had gotten so busy that those active parts of my life also got pushed to the side so I'm also looking to get back into the swing and being that active person again! Feel free to add me as a friend!

It can be cheaper if you shop smart by stocking up on bulk items that you use all the time - things like chicken, rice, meats, etc. In general, the savings from big box stores comes from how they aren't paying someone to take them off the truck and unbox them and put them on the shelves in the individual packages. The…

It really depends on what works best for you, your height, and your activity level. Generally speaking the more active you are, the more protein you will need to repair your muscle tissue. For me, I shoot to keep my carbs under 100 grams (20%), 30-35% protein or 109grams to 135 grams), and the rest good, healthy fats.…

I don't have any tips, but I'm also interested in what people have to say because I have the same problem, but with my left wrist. (I broke it years ago, and I guess I always favored it since then and just never noticed until I started doing weight training.)

Thank you for posting it! I wish you well dealing with your nodule and considerations going into a thyroidectomy! I'm sure our apprehension is not well founded. I'm one of those people that has to weigh the pros and cons of everything before I say, ok, let's do this, lol. Best of luck! :flowerforyou:

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that you've had to go through that! I hope that maybe one day it won't be as noticeable for you. That is exactly why I was waiting until after my wedding! I have pretty pale skin too and a very long, slender neck so it'll be right there for everyone to see. If it is something need then I'll live…

Those of you that have had a full thyroidectomy, what was your recovery like and the scar? Surgery has been recommended to me by several doctors. I have hashimoto's and have a large goiter with no nodule, but some nodular type tissue that they're 'watching.' I've been trying to control it and the symptoms I have with…

Thanks for the tips. I'll try to see if I can find something in between the counter height and the bench. I'm using the weight equipment I have at home so no Smith Machine, but thanks for the type. I'll see if I can work something out that is in between and just keep working at it.

It'll get easier the more you continue you workout until you reach new stages and work new muscles. For the time being, take some tylenol or advil and make sure you keep moving. Stretching your muscles will actually help to relieve some of the pain. Also make sure on lifting days that you're getting enough protein!

I put mine in my coffee in the morning. I buy chocolate protein powder. I stir it with my cream first then add in the coffee and stir again. Only two times have I not stirred enough that it got a little lumpy. I love it in my coffee.

Stop the thyroid madness has a list of goitrogenic foods to eat in moderation if you're hypothyroid. (Of course, most of them are foods that I love!) http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/goitrogens/ Heating most of the foods helps to break down the goitrogenic properties with the exception of soy products, which maintain…

I thought I’d add some more information to my original reply. After my first couple of workouts I was EXTREMELY sore. I did some research to see what I could do to aid in my recovery because I quickly realized I could not be incapacitated Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday every week. Although I liked that I was seeing…
