  • I am currently trying to find a good gym. I mostly want it just for a nice pool to swim in as I have a gym at work. Lost my pool access when i graduated from UH and am in need of a new place to swim. Do any of you know if a masters or similiar swimming group meets at any 24 hour fitness locations in galleria or west…
  • I love black coffee. it is an acquired test for sure, but if you drink it for a weeks you learn to love it. And then it 2 calories per cup of tasty! :-)
  • I bike. MS150 is a great cause and provides a reason for you to train weekly which keeps you motivated. If anyone ever cares to join, let me know! I ususally end up biking george bush park for easy quick days and going more west or northwest for longer more challening rides.
  • Good idea, but think we should push this back since i doubt many will get the details on time and such prior to tomorrow.
  • any more details on this? What time and such? and even hard RSVP's?
  • I plan to be there, 80% sure. What time are you thinking
  • Hello all! My name is Jon, moved down here from Colorado to the Houston westchase area about 5 years ago and started putting on some texas weight. Last year the result of a big push to finish my masters at UH while working left my body about 20lbs heavier than my previously highest weight. I joined MFP about a month after…
  • If i am free i will be there! :-)
  • Welcome! Both to MFP and your new liftestyle! :-) I will add you for sure and provide as much advice and support as I can! I am always looking for good new friends, so anyone feel free to add me! :-)
  • Speaking on behalf of the public, go out and flaunt it! You look amazing! :-)
  • Great comment! Measurements are much more important than weight! My weight goes up and down about 5lbs throughout the day, my measurements dont. Much better tracker.
  • I am a science nerd so have to add a note on one of the best things for you to eat with it, rather than just taste! Cottage Cheese and Blackberries = A Sharper Mind Dairy products (and fortified breakfast cereals) are a good source of vitamin B12 which works in conjunction with the folate in berries to break down…
  • The biggest loser is extreme cases with very heavy medical watch and if you follow-up a lot of them actually put it all back on. Unless you are over 400 or 500 lbs, i wouldnt expect the same results. Losing 1lb a week is the most healthy, safest, and best for long term results. I would recommend making that your target.…
  • I am not suprised you gained wieght on the diet you were doing. The body goes into freak out mode when you dont give it enough calories (such as only 600) and stores as many as it can in case it needs it for a life or death situation (dont run from bears much anymore, but the ol' body hasnt realized that yet). You want to…
  • Just keep rolling! You are doing awesome. The only myth is if you eat less calories than you consume you will lose wieght. You are already doing the two biggest things right most people dont! - Net smart calories not just net calories (if you eat 50 pixie sticks in a day you may still be under your calorie limit, but wont…
  • Truth is, everything else being the same, it is harder to lose wieght in your late 20's than early 20's. Many people have already hit the reason right on the head so wont discuss the reason further. Being in the same boat (27) I can tell you how i started viewing it though. It is harder than if i had did it in my early…
  • One trick you can do if your gym has a T.V. is go at the same time as one of your favorite shows and allow yourself ONLY to watch the show while working out. The other way of doing this is to watch an episode or two of a show from netflix on your phone (if you can) per workout, again that you can only watch at the gym. I…
  • I think your breakfast is probably fine as is. I would see if you can sneak a quick snack at work between breakfast and lunch. Just a small healthy snack could go a long way. If you think about it you havent eaten for 10 or more hours prior to breakfast and then 1pm when you have your second meal what you had for breakfast…
