Can you open your food diary? Are you really measuring, or just eyeing the amounts and guessing? I too eat a fair amount of hummus, but a serving size for most brands are 2 tbsp (which is pretty tiny compared to what I would normally scoop out and eat) I was a fairly carb heavy vegetarian for years, then about a year ago…

I went vegan last May, after years of vegetarian. I ate a pretty carb heavy diet, and it showed. Activity wise, I train to do at least one race a month, any from 5k-1/2 marathon distances. Made the choice to cut back on the junk vegan foods, and started using the happy herbivore meal plans and cook books for meal planning,…

I used to run/walk, but blew out an ankle joint and ended the running part. So, since October, I've only been speed waking. I usually try to train on tues, weds, Friday and a long mile day on Sunday. I do 5k-1/2 marathons, so my miles change based on what distance I'm ramping up for. The week days are usually 3-5 miles,…

Healthy and realistic is 1-2 pounds a week. So August is about 19 weeks out? 19-38 would be doable in that time frame. Add more exercise and you'll end up more towards the higher end. But I would do like 1400-1450 calories a day. 1200 is pretty restrictive, hard to keep up with out some H'angry days, and more likely…

It's weird, I didn't really feel over weight, (but the scale, bmi, and tight jeans told me so) and kind of feel like I should have more (or less!) To show. Still curvy where I'd like it to be less, but I know if I keep making the better choices food wise, it will keep coming off. I did measure before hand, and I'm dropping…

Also 5'4", heaviest was 168 in December, currently at 148. No magic idea for belly pudge, it's slowly coming off. (I pack weight in the thighs, belly and butt). I was at 1200 calories a day, but started to slow in the loss, so bumped up to 1450, and the scale started moving again. I'm vegan, and do a lot of speed walking,…

Which brand did you try? For me, I tried several types before I found one's I liked. There are some brands that don't have you defrost them (mush factor). Having not eaten a real burger in over 20 years, I'm not expecting it to taste like cow. Just looking for a filling for my burger bun :)

I've dropped 15 since Jan. Following the happy herbivore weekly meal plans. And I still get rice and potatoes in there once and a while :)

So did you use 1 and 2/3 cups of oats in your recipe, or did you use less than 1/2 a cup when you made it? (.44'ish of a cup would be your 1 and 2/3 of a serving size, but that seems to not be how you would do a recipe. Typically it's cups of stuff, not a serving size)

I make my oatmeal plain, then add in things. Usually frozen berries and some Apple sauce. Or banana and 1 tbsp. Vegan chocolate chips. Or frozen cherries and some vanilla. Maybe chopped apple and peanut butter. Blueberries and walnuts are good too. I try to keep my oats and mix ins around 300 calories' ish. (I used to be a…

1/4 cup of dry is about 150 calories. My oats don't quite double once cooked (so little under 1/2 cup cooked). Granted its early, but if my math is right, you've got 1.66 cups of oats in your recipe. Divide by .25 (1/4 cup serving size) and then multiple by 150 calories. That equals 996 calories for the whole recipe.…

Recipe says it makes 5 jars, would assume that means 5 servings?

1/4 cup dry is 150 by itself, with out add ins.

I ramp down some ( so my long runs are 7-8 miles) until I need to start up increasing the miles for the next one. My body thanks me for the slight decrease!

There are LOTS of run/walkers, jalkers (that's what my friends call me) and walkers out there at races. If you race isn't new, go look at last year's results to get an idea on what the pace for the later finishers was. You might be surprised to see people finishing over the limit (not that you need to worry about that! But…

If you are really worried about your pace, and your race isn't brand new this year, go look at last year's results. When I first started running, I was worried I'd be last, or even picked up by the clean up car. Never happened!!! Ended up kind of in the later part of mid pack. Seeing that my races keep the course open for…

Losing, track food daily, weigh Friday mornings, and measure on the last Friday of the month.

Time to maybe 're-look at you food choices. You shouldn't feel like "All I can have is salad, since I'm on a diet" being unhappy with your food choices is going to line you up for failure in the long run. I'm vegan, and I don't live off of salads. If I'm know I'm going out to eat, I do a few things. First, I check the…
