Ah, well the picture's not great, but you get the idea...

Today's bento. Edamame & jasmine rice/forbidden rice & pork dumplings. I'm getting close to finishing my freezer stash, so I think the next round of dumplings will be home made (fingers crossed, ha!). Total cals 458. Oh, and I totally rocked my star shaped egg. If I remember, I'll take a picture of my snack bento when I…

Just to add an opinion to the peanut gallery. I don't wash unless I'm making sushi. I don't really notice a difference either way, but all my cookbooks say it HAS to be done, so I do. I also use the Nishiki brand rice. It's a California short (and medium) grain rice.

Today's bento. Shrimp, edamame, mini peppers & jasmine rice mixed with forbidden rice. Kinda turned the whole thing purple when I thought I'd get pretty speckled rice, but it tastes good and that's what matters. Total 400 cals.

Amazon.com can be your friend! The only Daiso as far as I know is in San Francisco, bit of a haul from Chicago. I bought most of my high quality stuff from Amazon, but I've also found stuff at places like Meijer. Someone else on here said The Container Store had stuff too. Anything can be a bento container, even gladware,…

Finally back at bento!! Today is leftover taco night. Sirloin steak in chipotle garlic sauce, avocado, cheese & sour cream with some strawberries (aww, my picture always looks nicer on my phone than it shows here). Snack bento is a bunny egg, carrots & cherries.
-
How sweet! I on the other hand, hadn't even gotten that far. I made my bento stash yesterday, cooked rice, boiled eggs, etc. I was going to assemble a bento this morning and when my alarm went off, so did husband's. He's like, oh yeah, forgot to tell you I need to get up early this morning. So, threw my day out of whack,…

I made them the night before, but make sure you leave any dressing off, they will melt. I don't remember who used them regularly, but she did say they have to sit before you eat them.

Okay, Today's box! On the left is shrimp and mushrooms sauteed in sesame oil and soy sauce, underneath is some steamed rice, on the left, is grapes, carrots & sugar snap peas with a pot of italian dressing for dipping. Total cals: 393. The picture doesn't look as appetizing as it does IRL, my kitchen must have terrible…

Blasphemy!! Okay, maybe not. The box looks tasty though :star:

I squee'd a little at those kitties! No shame here :sunglasses:

Good luck with the move! I'm pretty sure the jar of sprinkles in my pantry came with the house. Seems to be one of those things that no one ever remembers buying, but we all have. Here's today's bento. Pork dumplings and an apricot & a half (its all that would fit), rice with smoked sesame seeds and edamame. Snack bento…

I think you did awesome! You'll have to let us know if you enjoyed eating them
-
Wow, that box looks crazy delish!

We always called that kind "dots" or "non-pareils" sprinkles are the long shaped ones (some people call them "jimmies"?) Weird how we all call them different things. That said, fairy bread sounds like a mouthful of diabetes.
-
Oh, wow. That's just...wow. Sounds like it would taste, um, weird?
-
Hmm, cream cheese and sprinkles? Not in the Midwestern US as far as I know. Regular old sliced bread?
-
We welcome all newcomers! Grab a tupperware, or as @mangrothian said, get a dragon box and come join us
-
Wow! Awesome stuff, new stuff always gets me excited about bento. The cute factor is half the reason I tried this out in the first place. Sure there's portion control, and new foods to try, but the box was my #1 reason.

Challenge Won! 9 was my man, 10 made me cry multiple times, and I thought 11 was hard to choke down. I'm way behind as I could only take him in small doses, but agreed River Song is amazing! If I can find myself some time, I may attempt a kyaraben bento just for funzies.
-
I did have a bit of a squee at the lined up cheez its. A bento after my own heart  @LosingItForGood13 Welcome!
-
I love dorky artwork! It took me a while to notice the hand in the upper right corner  Oh, and no bento today, because...lazyness.
-
Oh man, everyone's eggs are looking so tasty and perfectly cooked! I'm out of eggs at the moment, but I normally eat at least one hard boiled egg a day. So, here's today's bento. I cooked a turkey breast on Sunday, so today is turkey breast, rice w/ furikake, corn, mushrooms, carrots and two hershey kisses. Husband's box…

Here's today's bento. Rice with smoked sesame seeds, straw mushrooms, shrimp and edamae. All in my new box, and since it came with chopsticks, I'm going to give them a go again. This ought to be entertaining.

@Narcissora @aSearch4Me I second the dry cereal thing. I generally eat my cereal without milk. Putting milk in it just mooshes the flavors together and makes everything soggy. Never considered putting it in a bento though...
-
Our first serious bentoing man? Your food looks incredible
-
Yeah, we call it Frank's here too. I've been to Philly, and they just call it "cheesesteak" and it's Amazing! We found this hole in the wall place that was under a parking garage or something. There was no one in there, and we (pack of idiots we are) told them we're from Chicago and had never had a "real" Philly…
-
I agree with @mangrothian I pack a two tier snack bento for my morning and afternoon snack along with my lunch one. I don't always get a chance to eat it (like today) and I end up staaarving.
-
@narcissora I love those little cocktail ryes, I never even thought of using those! Here's today's standard bento. Dumplings, carrots & italian dressing, rice with furikake seasoning w/ edamame. The little pink pot has three nonpareils in there for dessert.
