I had a super tasty looking bento today, but then I spent all afternoon out at a client (unplanned!) so I didn't get to eat it, I scarfed my snack bento for lunch as I ran out the door. Back in the fridge it went.

Thanks! It's my new HK bag, it fit both bento boxes and my yogurt breakfast. Lunch was tasty.

umm...<shuffles feet>...I know not of which you speak?? :* <walks away whistling...>

Ok! Finally got to make a bento again. Not too exciting but here's my snack bento and my lunch bento. Snack is an egg and strawberries, melba chips, laughing cow cheese and scottie dog licorice. Both snacks, 259 cals. Lunch is soba noodles with edamame and shrimp, top tier is strawberries, salad cucumber, sugar snap peas…

It's all downhill from here! :p

@sagj your bentos are so pretty!
-
I'm so picking up what you're setting down!

I almost got the Totoro one as well, but I have a soft spot for black cats (and I totally love KiKi's delivery service)

That's by far my favorite box! I have the round silicone but not the square one...hmm I may have to hit amazon

There's no shame in bento. We've all been there :o

Sometimes that happens. I love chocolate, granola and marshmallow, but make a smore's and I'd rather eat an apple. For all our lurkers coming out of hiding...Welcome to your new obsession!!

There's a lot there to not like. Any specific part? I just can't like kimchi or kale, but I do like cod, and that cod looks tasty.

You really don't need to buy the fancy "bento" boxes, any old box will do. I started out with Lock Lock boxes and gladware. Unless you want to buy the fancy boxes... just a warning they get kind of addictive

I got my JList order, so a bunch of cute new bento boxes! Now for busy season to get over so I can go back to making lunches...
-
I know! Even when you can get an egg mold to come out well, it never really photgraphs well, there's got to be a trick to it.
-
You can also start with what you know. Many of us started out with "leftover" bentos. Really, bento is just about packing a lunch, so start out with what you feel comfortable. Due to this being my busy season, I've been behind on my bento making, but most of my stuff is kind of heat and pack.

One of the girls in the thread here is a paleo eater (I think that's what she is, or maybe it was gluten free, I forget) she had mentioned them and I purchased them on amazon. They are basically a vegetable fruit roll up that you use in place of flour tortilla shells. I have a ton of small containers, just nothing that fit…

<- giggles! Yeah, I thought they were going to stay chewy. Glad they didn't, it was pretty good, and an interesting wrap. I don't care much for tortilla wraps on sandwiches as they are always kind of raw flour tasting, but this was fun. I'm going to have to get creative with my next round! eta: I don't have any dietary…

I gave it a go! Here's turkey, havarti & avocado wrapped in a carrot gem wrap, bolthouse farms yogurt ranch dressing, a salad cucumber and a raspberry fig bar. It's actually pretty good, i was a bit worried when i made the rolls, as the wrap was really like a fruit roll up, but overnight they softened and just kind of…

Thanks @kramrn77 if i see them in the store, i'll give them a whirl! On a side note, my carrot gem wraps came in yesterday that @cindytw introduced us to. I think i'll have time tonight to bento something with them for lunch tomorrow! Turkey and avocado maybe?
-
@kramrn77 that rice roller looks tasty! If I like rice cakes, would I like those? I spy them over on amazon.com.... I love poofy foods that take up a lot of volume for small calories.

Sadly, yes.

I use eggs that are at least a week old, poke a hole in the bottom prior to cooking, peel as hot as you can handle (i use yellow dish gloves because i'm a baby) stuff in the wet mold and drop the mold in icewater for a "while". I actually leave them in the molds in the fridge until I'm ready for them. My method of cooking…

I had a chance to make a bento for today (pizza at work, so i wanted something with me). Nothing special, pork & leek dumplings (i've decided I'm not a fan of leek, but I'll make it through the bag), edamame, brown rice & green beans.
-
@Alliwan is that bacon raw? The chicken looks really tasty.
-
The worst part about an undercooked egg? Not knowing until it's too late to do anything about it. I've eaten many a soft egg.
-
No idea, but my guess would be refrigerated? Here's where I found that : http://www.newgemfoods.com/where-to-buy

I just googled those, they sound both strange and intriguing! If I ever see them, I'll give them a try! Oh, looks like I can get something called Origami wraps at Costco, and the gem wraps on Amazon. Any particular flavor to try? Carrot & barbeque both look intriguing.

My hump day just started! I can't believe you can sleep if you're out of soy sauce :o That udon dish looks amazing though.
