My WW scale works fine. Once or twice it's thrown a funny number at me, but I just zero it out and get an accurate reading. I have noticed that if my feet are hanging over or I don't position myself in the center it will be off though. Also make sure it is on a flat surface. I also don't leave it on the floor, It is…

Wow, your before and after on FB is amazing! You sure got my vote :) Good luck!

I was never a breakfast eater, and the thought of eggs in the morning or solid food in general turns my tummy! What works for me is a protein shake. I do a scoop of protein powder, a cup of unsweetened almond milk and sometimes a teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa and a pack of splenda to sweeten it up (I use the flavor free…

Hi Pennell12, No problems here, I work a couple tablespoons of ground flaxseed into my daily diet and drink lots of water. I also make sure to have some low carb veggies like cauliflower, broccoli, etc every day. If you stick to meat and cheese I could see trouble a-brewin though!! :P

You might open your food diary so people could see what exactly you are eating for your low carb diet. 5 days isn't a lot of time, but generally you should experience a pretty significant weight loss in the first couple of weeks. Since you are so new to low carb have you considered following a plan to help you understand…

Have to agree with the above posters, sounds like you're doing great with what you've been doing. I'm not an exercise person either, I still have to force myself after months and months, but I just try to look forward to the great way I feel from the workout rather than the annoyance of the workout itself. Do not try Alli.…

You might want to try a little guidance through South Beach, Atkins, or one of the other many low carb nutrition plans. Any used book store will have a whole section of low carb diet books, and it will help give you some structure if low carb is new to you. I follow South Beach because I need a little more variety and…

I am doing South Beach too, on day 12 now, and went through the same thing. Although I am tracking carbs and calories on myfitnesspal I haven't been worrying too much about the lack of appetite and calories. One thing I've done to help get some extra calories is making protein shakes with some cottage cheese, flaxseed,…

I've found making smoothies is an easy treat. I use almond milk or coconut almond milk (unsweetened) and toss in a teaspoon of sugar free jello powder and some cottage cheese for a cheesecake tasting smoothie. Mmm. Or a couple teaspons of unsweetened cocoa powder and your artificial/alternative sweetener of choice for a…

I don't eat almond butter, but I do eat a little peanut butter. The most creative thing I've done with it was adding it to a protein shake, spread on celery, and smeared on top of some cottage cheese/flaxmeal no flour pancakes I made. Wondering if maybe a little pan sauce to go with some chicken might be good? Worth a try!…

My secret motivation that I wouldn't say to anyone in person is that I want to leave the "Plus size" section of the clothing stores FOREVER. Been there since a teenager, tired of dressing like an old lady! lol

When I was a teenager and a "bad" eater, I had a job at Burger King. I was a total fast food eater at the time. I'll tell you what, after 2 days of working there I could barely choke down a plain grilled chicken sandwich (the only thing that seemed halfway appealing) and just thinking about a Whopper brought through my gag…

I'm not sure what type of low carb diet you follow, but this blog is great for South Beach. I've made quite a few recipes from here: http://www.kalynskitchen.com/2006/09/south-beach-diet-information-posts-on.html I highly recommend the Hungarian Pot Roast (a crock pot recipe) and the Pesto Chicken (cooks up in 20 min).…

I think on the Food Network website I found a nifty little recipe for Chicken pizza by Elle Krueger. It basically consists of a chicken breast (you might pound it out to be flatter) and then topping with a no sugar spaghetti sauce (Ragu makes a decent one) or make your own by whipping up some crushed tomatoes and Italian…

Asparagus is good, but not entirely raw. Just par boil for 1-2 minutes and dump in ice water to chill. Then refrigerate and snack as you will!

I add a couple of tablespoons of ground/milled flaxseed to my fruit smoothies. Great way to get some fiber and omega 3's and it makes my tummy happy :) Also, if you find your bananas are starting to get too ripe, just peel and freeze in chunks and toss into the smoothie frozen, they make them extra creamy.

My mom used to make this as a salad with dinner. The sweet/salty combo make it addicting. Put some shredded/chopped lettuce on the bottom of a bowl. Add a 1/2 cup scoop of cottage cheese. Add one canned pear half (no sugar added!) and a sprinkle of low fat cheddar cheese on top (1-2 TBS). Enjoy! The cheddar on top might…

The only substitute for butter... is BUTTER. Everything in moderation, just be sure you pay attention to how much you are using and account for it in your food journal to keep you from slathering it on everything. mmm.. butter

There are many different shapes and sizes of "baby" carrots because they are basically shaved/trimmed full sized carrots that weren't pretty enough for the full sized market. I shop at Fred Meyer and even there you can select a larger finger sized, and two different smaller varieties of these so called "baby" carrots. So…

It takes something like 3500 extra calories to gain 1 lb, so don't worry about the 69 calories!! Just don't do it 50 more times in the week. Maybe a few jumping jacks to take care of the guilt? :P
-
I either gain a pound or two of water weight, or stay the same weight for a few days before and during my cycle. It used to make me upset, but now I just skip my weigh in for that week. Usually skipping that one weekly weigh in means a several pound loss to celebrate and feel more substantial than that usual 1 -1.5 weight…

Just sub 1 cup of some type of milk; dairy, soy, almond, rice instead of the yogurt and then a couple ice cubes with a quarter cup of your fruit. I add in a tablespoon of ground flaxseed for a little boost too.

Honey Mustard Salmon 3 tbs honey 3 tbs dijon mustard (I use Grey Poupon, but any good mustard) 1 squeeze lemon Salt Pepper 4 Salmon Filets (about 6 oz each) Salt and pepper salmon filets Marinate salmon for about 15 min in the mixture then bake at 400 degrees for 15 min or until cooked to your personal taste. I spoon the…

Sloppy Joes with ground turkey! I use the Super Sloppy Joes recipe from Rachel Ray and just omit the sugar for a couple packs of Splenda or brown sugar Splenda for sweetness. Serve on half a whole wheat bun and add in some homemade oven fries or sweet potato fries. Great if you have kiddos too.

Use the recipe builder on this site and plan your dinners a few days ahead so you know what to expect and don't get caught last minute with no dinner. I tend to browse different websites that have healthy/low cal dinner ideas and customize them if I don't like an ingredient. As you find recipes just bookmark them or keep a…

I feel sick when I take vitamins if I take them in the morning or on an empty stomach. Once I switched to taking my vitamins after dinner I didn't have any trouble. Maybe experiment taking them on a full stomach or a different time of day when the body is better able to process them.

Adding veggies into food is a great way to get over the plain taste. Add a chopped up red/yellow/orange pepper to a turkey sloppy joe mix, or a cup of sliced carrots into a low fat chili (they taste amazing). Veggie based soups also are a good way to get in veggies with lots of flavor. I also found that roasting veggies in…
